thank you Mr. Comentator ... best adivece I ever heard There is no right or wrong in Pickleball and if you have a special skill set, you can do things that are different from everyone else that is completely fine
I understand in isolation that statement seems kind of odd, but he talk's about players with special skillsets a lot. Just saying pickleball is like a solved cookbook in terms of strategy and shot choice. If you have a special skillset, or a uniquely skilled shot.. that kind of tosses all that out the window.
@@Aegizreal Great point! I totally get what you're saying about strategy being like a 'cookbook'-there are definitely foundational strategies and shot choices that are effective for most players. However, I think the commentator’s point might be more about how skilled players can sometimes break those ‘rules’ or norms. If you have a highly developed skill set, like a unique shot or a different way of reading the game, it can create opportunities that don’t always align with conventional wisdom. In other words, while strategy and shot choice are critical, the beauty of pickleball (and sports in general) is that creativity and individual flair can still make a big impact. It’s a balance between mastering the fundamentals and finding ways to innovate within them.”
I'm so glad I got to watch it here. I was there but missed the action. It's such a privilege to have Michael serve to me a few times in Las Vegas. You are such a great follower of Jesus, and I know you can go far. I'll try to follow along ❤.

@@XPWiZARDYT and @arautus: Quang Duong beat Michael Loyd a few weeks ago in Vegas for Quang first single title of his career. Don't forget that Quang was in the semi-final matches in all three events, singles, doubles, and mixed doubles. Probably got tired from all those matches. Ofcourse Loyd won fair and square, but I suspected fartigue had something to do with the outcome.

Not really. What happened was Michael called the ball out, the score went to 7-2. But Q challenged the call. After video review, the call was overruled, that's why there's a side out and the score stayed 6-2.
I think the side out scoring rule needs to be changed for single's game, because server clearly got the advantage if big serves can be made consistently. Since it's very hard to make consistent high-quality returns facing such big serves, the third shot can easily be a winner. My suggestion is just like table tennis, players make 2 consecutive serves and then become receiver. This will make single's game more equal for both sides.
@@AidenFletcher18....that's impossible. You can't score a point unless you're serving. Unless you mean the returner is more likely to win the rally. Or you're talking about rally scoring.
@@AidenFletcher18 I think big serve or not really matters. If you can't serve big, then you may lose the advantage as a server. If you can, like Quang Duong, Fed Staksrud, Ben Johns, Michael Loyd, then you can easily win a couple of points in a streak. Bottom line is, if each player makes 2 serves in turn, it won't jeopardize anything.
Lloyd on an absolute tear. Good to see new blood on the courts. I'm inclined to think its a fluke but we'll see if he has staying power. Single pickleball is pretty brutal and it seems like he's playing at the right place, trying to make every shot a decisive winner. Unfortunately that makes it look more and more like tennis so eventually I may just stop watching singles. Seems like eventually it will come down to strength and mechanics once the meta is established.
Perhaps these commentators should learn not to talk when a point in play --- and they do not have to comment after everything - occasional silence please

Abuse builds character
Quang is definitely a better player but Michael played out of his mind today. I am betting my money on Fed today.
He didn't look like the better player
Better, yet loses, makes sense....

Play 3 semifinal matches may drain QD energy
By the way, I think the video quality has improved. Seems like the on-screen elements are more crisp, at least. A welcome change.
How can you not root for this Guy? Go ML.
There need to be line judges at pro events. How can you take the sport seriously if the players are responsible for making the calls?
Golfers keep their own score…
They can challenge and I believe they do have video replays.

Mathematically it’s still not true. A majority of points are still being won by the returners
