    Important point. For players who aren‘t that good equipped with external devices: the Montage, its little brother MODX and many other contemporary synths have assignable filter knobs onboard. In addition, one can not only use the cutoff filter as a morphing factor but also the attack/decay/sustain parameters or the volume of parts of the patch. That means that you can also change a continous pad into a percussive pad by simply turning a knob. Especially the super knob on Montage and MODX is a great tool in this aspect.

    Love it, I used to do that on my bass, low to high filtering on a sweepable foot pedal.

    Watching this, over and over, I think "Where the Streets Have No Name". That beautiful synth opening has changed our worship. Ironically, Brian Eno, the architect of that sound, is an atheist. But that doesn't stop beautiful things from coming out of his brain. Really enjoyed this video.

    Interesting. I use the same method when using pads in Worship. I have the Yamaha MO6 en often play this massive pad sound, built up from 3 different pads (analog pad, strings and choir) and turn Cutoff to low to create this deep pad sound. Then I can use my sliders tot change the sound. When we get to a chorus I dial it up to even sometimes this 'fat' synth sound. Very nice to hear you use the same basics in the Jesus Culture music.

      Take a listen to these pads, Peter. I just heard a song that has the most awesome worship pads I have ever heard and it is played from a Roland Fantom X8. I have never, ever heard a more beautiful sound in my life, bro. Just wondering if you can get that on your keyboard (Xa). Here is the video and the sounds begin at 59:58 and throughout the song. Do you think it's possible with the Montage? Thanks!

    Interesting, I. Saw (and heard) the little Montage 8 a couple of months ago and fell in love with it. After finding the price, fell "out of love". LOL! Awesome pad sounds, for sure. And do love the first sound you had. Breathtaking. Thank you for sharing!

    you guys should post links to the gear he is using in the about this video section. I think it would be useful and you could generate some sales from those who are interested in buying the gear they see in the video. Just an idea! :)

    Is that a sampled strings patch or a synth?
    Just curious. I have my pads set up the same way in reason. I use the mod wheel to sweep the LPF.

    why every church starts using montage now?

    • @IamtheKingsman
      @IamtheKingsman 7 лет назад +2

      Rinaldo Jonathan Not every church. Near us, Calvary Chapel uses a Nord Stage 3, while I use a Yamaha PSR S770. My Yammie has several hundred patches that came with it, I've downloaded, or created on my own. The Montage is an incredible instrument, but doesn't have some features that I need. The S770, on the other hand, though containing most of the features of the Tyros 1-4, doesn't have some of the features found on the Montage that make it unique. One of my issues is that I also do gigs for rest homes, senior centers, parties and weddings. Frankly, a Montage wouldn't fit in my car. If the group I'm playing for is a reasonably small room,I probably wouldn't need a monitor and amps since my S770 has a very good sound system built in. I've also got A USB stick that I've programmed with thousands of styles, voices, pads, that extend the range of my keyboard to cover just about anything from a gentle pad to roaring shredded guitars, or great swelling orchestras. However, both of these keyboards have their place. If you want to have something that goes beyond either the Montage of the S770, take a good look at Peter Bartmanns playing the Genos. Honestly, I'd love to have one, but the $5500 it costs is totally out of my reach. God has given me just what I need though, and I praise Him for it.

    WARNING: I am new to synths.
    I noticed in an older video Ian was using a Livid CNTRL:R instead of the DS1, which is shown in this video. Here is the link to the older video: ruclips.net/video/1E1AX9FTo8s/видео.html . Since the DS1 appears to have fewer buttons, I am curious what the advantage the DS1 has over the CNTRL:R. The only thing I can think of is the DS1 has 5 knobs per channel instead of 3. In other words, the DS1 has more adjustability at the cost of having fewer buttons. I think.....
    Any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

    What is the controller on the keyboard

    • @AudioReplica2023
      @AudioReplica2023 7 лет назад

      thats a Livid midi controller. Used to control parameters inside ableton software. But to do what he is doing you can even use a simple midi controller that have knobs and faders. You could even assigned your keyboard knobs (if is possible) to do that no need of a controller.

    • @RinaldoJonathan

      you can even use the cheap korg nanokontrol.

  • @dongarberg4047
    @dongarberg4047 6 лет назад

    Even better, learn subtractive synthesis from something old (or new) and analog, and build sounds from scratch. Toning down a bright preset pad with cutoff frequency isn't really that much different than just grabbing a preset. One small synth tweak does not an original sound make! :-)
