    I did the same color scheme on the 302....306 actually I'm building now. Good stuff. I'm about to go do these very jobs to mine now. I snagged the McLeod Street Clutch Master Kit - 10.5" - 10 Spline kit from LMR. The pressure plate assembly is so pretty you hate to cover it up. LOL

    My brain was gunna explode from me looking up what clutch will fit my 351w to t5 setup and looking if clutches were interchangable. All I got was different friction materials blah blah blah. I saw its a 10 spline and a similar setup to mine and it worked. Thank you

      haha - I've been there on similar problems / hope your build works out and good luck!

    Just a heads up 50oz is on newer 302 blocks older ones need a 28oz

    • @TacoJoe
      @TacoJoe  3 года назад

      well said / I think the older 28oz cranks are tougher too / when ford changed the firing order, I "think" they lightened the crank casting - might have been a EPA play to reduce reciprocating mass/etc - baseless speculation on my part though :) / I'm sure there are some experts out there that know the reason for the change / thanks for the comment!

    What size clutch ? What year t5 what year motor ? Did you have to shim the trans ?

    Nice video. My rear main leaks on my 1990 F250 351W. I figured since I'm replacing that I'd put a new clutch on it. I picked up a Luk HD clutch kit. Anything else I should replace while I'm in there?

    • @TacoJoe
      @TacoJoe  8 лет назад +2

      I think its a good idea to replace the clutch / they are cheap - if the clutch kit doesn't come with a flywheel, you maybe want to pick one up too (or resurface/grind the existing wheel) / on a driver, this step isn't always required / but if its discolored or it looks like it got oil burned/embedded to it, you "could" have some slip. I've done it both way and never had an issue (If i was reusing, I just cleaned it up good with brake cleaner).
      Clutch kit should have a throwout bearing so I think you are all set. Good luck!

      Karl Peterson thanks, was thinking about replacing the oil pan gasket also

      I'd like to put a Ford 289 in a Ford Model A and use a T5 transmission. Which year Ford Mustang should I look for to find a good T5 and bell housing that will fit the small block Ford? Suggestions appreciated.

    I'm envious of your engine dolly. Do you have dimensions so I can build one for myself? I'm using a 5.0 efi from a '87 Mercury Grand Marquis. Thanks.

    • @TacoJoe
      @TacoJoe  4 года назад +1

      I don't have dimensions handy, but all that really matters is the block bolt hole spacing on each side - ie - if you cut the 2X4's / 2X6's / etc. and drill/bolt into place, the rest is pretty straightforward - just measure/cut as you go - you are just matching the engine mount spacing / I'll see if I can get some measurements for you / thanks for the comment-

    I’m buying a 95 mustang gt in two weeks that has the t5. I just pulled the 351w out of my 89 f150 to rebuild the bottom end. What am I gonna have to get for the mustang t5 to bolt up and be operational with my 351w? A list of everything I need would be very much appreciated and if it helps anything the truck has a bw t18 4 speed so I know I have to get all different things for it to bolt up. All I know of that I have to change is the bell housing and motor mounts but anything else I might need please let me know.

      Hi Brad - not sure I'll be a lot of help here / best bet is likely to check the F150 forums for some input. High level though: I think it can be done and good luck with your conversion!

    hi tell me Windsor 351 ford econoline '94 automatic transmission can be swapped for manual transmission?

    • @TacoJoe
      @TacoJoe  2 года назад

      Check which ford trans you have and then google overall length and determine the length of your new 5 speed (ie- T5 / TKO / TKX / etc)- you'll need a bellhousing too - lots of options for you and in the end, a configuration will bolt up - your goal is to swap without having too cut/rebalance the driveshaft. Sorry if this isn't a lot of help but big picture: It can be done once you get get some of the model numbers / measurements. Thanks for the comment!

    Is there a top and bottom to the pressure plate?

    • @TacoJoe
      @TacoJoe  3 года назад

      they only go on one way / spring side and clutch side / the dowels on the flywheel only allow it on a certain way too, but I think they are symmetric - thanks for the comment!

    I just replace my transmission in my 302 Windsor but it shifting kind of hard do you know how I can fix that bro

    • @TacoJoe
      @TacoJoe  3 года назад +1

      Check your input shaft / did you use the same bell housing? If the input runout is greater than .015" (I think that's the ford spec), you could have issues. .015" is pretty big too / you likely can get it closer. If everything is lined up it could be a number of things from worn synros to shift linkage. Big picture: You can fix it, you just need to troubleshoot and I bet you can get things figured out. Good luck!

    I have a 95 f150 with 5.8L 2 Wheel Drive, and i have t5 transmisión for a 2000 mustang gt. Do you think my Drive shaft will Fit in my t5 transmisión?

    • @TacoJoe
      @TacoJoe  5 лет назад +2

      The ford t5 has a 28 spline output shaft so that’s what you’ll want to check on the slip yoke. If it doesn’t fit, there are slip yokes available which you can buy that mate to your driveshaft. Either way though, I think you need to shorten the driveshaft.

    Will a T5 from a 93 GT hold up behind a 351w roller motor?

    • @TacoJoe
      @TacoJoe  11 месяцев назад +1

      Might be pushing it / I think T5s are rated for 330 ft/lbs and a mild 351w usually makes 400 ft/lbs easy. It will work just fine….until you drop the clutch and the car hooks - then - BOOM. Bottom line: T5 is a great transmission for a driver but if plan to bracket race/drag with a 351w- might want something a little beefier / thanks for the comment!

    What fly wheel and clutch kit did you use ? Do you have a build sheet ?

    • @TacoJoe
      @TacoJoe  4 года назад

      Hi Craig / I honestly don't remember and i'll have to look / pretty sure i got everything from summit. Flywheel was OEM Ford and the clutch was nothing special (street performance / etc) - been working great so far. Check out the summit racing website and search clutches for your motor-flywheel / there are a lot of options -and- make sure you understand the balance of your crankshaft so you get the right flywheel / thanks for the comment
