I have a 2023, and i wanted the fin drive. The pedal system is big, and bulky, I had my old Hobie 180 drive, and it does fit, with 3 washers on each side. I love the storage, adj seat, transducer plate, which is protected. I use a wilderness systems crate/cooler. That came with 4 rod holders, and mount options. Love the. Open deck space, deck padding included. I run my new J2 Bixpy pp-768 on the vibe gravity rudder, I plug the deck with the cassette, and teather my fins, and they're apprx 8 lbs. I can walk, stand, push pole around. I'm 5ft 7 156 lbs. It's a solid vessel. It's like a solo skiff. And the threads in the tank well for the boondox system. 💯 😎

I got this when it first came out and they had a pedal drive option (to go backwards) and they called it a dual drive kayak, but the pedal drive system was a bad design for the kayak where it would vibrate when pedaling too hard and you had to unscrew some of the bolts to even remove the pedals when getting to shore. I left reviews on hoodoo's website but they would just delete them every time which was dishonest but otherwise the base kayak was fine. I got rid of it and got an old town sportsman pdl 120 and 3 years later still use it. Cheers.

Did the pedal drive come with the kayak or do you have to buy them separately?

What did you do to adjust the turning? I am dealing with the same issue.

I had to adjust the knots on the rudder until they were tight enough to be able to get full movement

instead of knots ya can use small zip ties..a lot easier to remove to adjust tension on rudder cables.. hoodoo actually has a upgrade kit now on the cables ..

Any updates on the hoodoo? Worth looking at?

I think it's great after taking out 15 to 20 times it's durable, steers pretty well, very stable however it is very heavy so I would highly recommend getting a sturdy cart for it. But for the price, I think this kayak is great for small lakes. I have not taken it out on big lakes or anything but I'm sure it would do good.

I just got one. I was really impressed with the quality and how thick the plastic is on the hull. I've been in just about every pedal kayak under the sun, and Hoodoo is the best value in the market in my eyes. The hull on the impulse feels like the hulls used in much higher end kayaks.
