We used to have a hole drilled in the end of our fork tines with a temporary tow ball , great for shifting trailers and a good stop for stopping the lifting sling slipping off.
Gday, it’s a time consuming job swapping engines and I’m keen to see what’s wrong with the old motor, thanks Craig for all the content you’ve created and all the best for your new adventure mate, cheers
It’s good how you show a little of the tedious stuff, the time lapses of the less interesting stuff we’ve seen before. Always enjoy seeing you communicate with the guys, clearly a lot of mutual respect in the workshop.
rod and greg you guys just wanted to practise some so you knew what you were doing this time. good job fellas, she's like brand new, sort of . i think it is better than a new one. 👍😁 and i thank Craig for all the great footage, best of luck into your next venture.
Thanks for all off the hard work you guys do for us so we can see how it all worksThanks Craig for all off you hard work all the best and I hope we get to see what went wrong with the engine
Deffinetly keen to see what went wrong. It's great doing a job with a mate on something that's not fully your trade but that extra help makes it so much easier and enjoyable
Great episode and it would be awesome to see a what-went-wrong ep regarding the motor. And all the best Craig, hope things go well. You’ve obviously been an asset 👍👍
Hi Rocket, should have a old engine giveaway? The old motor from the 79 to the best comment? Would turn it into a coffee table with pictures of your Toyota
Thanks for the vid guys. Would love to see a tear-down vid of the old engine plus some more detail on the new motor. time to pull in and out, cost, delivery time frames, things to look out for ie: pics of injectors etc. Can see myself going through the same process at some stage. thanks again for the vids.
Great work, looked a snug fit to say the least. Tear down vid would be great. With the work that's been done in total, don't think she'll be seeing the tracks again 😁
Arrh that's how it goes , when I saw the flogging the 79 on that Kimberlies trip I was concerned probably would have popped the heads off. No matter great content she will be better than ever. The location of the starter motor on the v8 is ridiculous. Enjoyed the content yeah definitely a what went wrong with old engine ,probably won't sleep hoping my LC V8 doesn't have similar issues 😂
I would have thought you could have left the wiring on the engine and simply disconnected it from the computer and fed the harness through the fire wall, used this method Toyota Celia and others, mabey you can't on that model 4x4. Great job fellows.
Another great video guys! I really like your style and am happy to finally see another video on the 79. Like most Comments here in keen to see a “what went wrong” on the old motor. More importantly, I can’t wait to see this thing back on the road. Have you missed it Rod?
Really looking forward to a pull down of the old engine. And good luck Craig, saw you in so many videos including that one of when half a tree fell on your 4wd when camping and almost killed you and your daughter 😮. Hope to see you Craig on another channel 😊
Absolutely pull the old engine apart. Please don't just scrap the engine, it's going to be worth rebuilding for such a minor issue. Farwell Craig, hope you have a great time at what every you're doing next.
Repower with Bmw M57 tt straight 6,a mild tune,250kw and 700nm,and can get a 1000nm with reliability..Nice clean shop, and the boss is doing some work..!
Very keen to know what went wrong with the old one. Question: what source did you use for all the torque specs. I’m interested in knowing an accurate source as any misprint/mis transfer of info to digital could spell disaster? Nice job guys.
Quite right we thought about that but the engine was totally dusted so far down on compression to do a rebuild in the workshop wasn’t viable. That’s why we decided to just get a crate motor reload.
Bloody easy with a forklift. Wish I had one. Definitely interested to see what went wrong with the old engine. Also, where did you source your new engine ? Good luck Craig. Only here once . Follow your dreams mate. 👍
@@bogged2theeyeballs695 They are cheaper to buy than recon, not sure if it's the amount of machine time the V8 consumes as well as the diesel engine parts. How much that motor has cost Toyota in lost sales may never be known.
Rocket, Wot u doing with those new injectors in the bung engine? If you would like to off load them my old 79 has a home for them 👍😁 kennym Yeh, bring on the wtf happened to my 1vd episode ….
If only most people were as articulate as rod, considering in every video he looks like he’s literally rolled out of bed and pressed record haha. Nice work. Sorry to hear, but the abuse this thing has copped it’s done well.

Good vidoe Rod do a strip down i suspect it it got dusted or did a piston cant wait to see what went wrong
Yep, I would like to see what went wrong with the old engine
Definately would love to see a tear down video of what went wrong. It'll be interesting!

Yes please, as a 79 series dual cab owner I'm very interested to know what went wrong and perhaps if you could indicate how things came about.
Always a mad viewing boys keep up the great work and is there going to be a tickle on the new engine ?

Good old Towmotor grenade💣
Yes, what went wrong?
It'll be interesting to see what happened to the original engine.
can i ask what the somg is called that is played over the time lapse of engine being pulled out
Be good to see what happened to the old engine
Should have done a turbo upgrade while you’re at it.
Why didn’t ya just pull the cab off the chassis Rocket Rod hahah? Or maybe it wasn’t possible with the big canopy?
Keen as to see a what went wrong
Dropping the car to the floor is ok with a hoist. Had enough hassle with my old 1HZ in the 80 to never tackle the V8!
What happened to the boat anchor ? 😂
Please do a what went wrong on the old engine
Scavange Oil Pump. Can be diagnosed and repaired without taking out the Engine. Good thing you blokes only do Transmissions

@@gregbayliss4737 I see
great video. caint wait to see the other engine tear down.
say catchy time lapse music? who is the artist and song ? thanks
Think it’s something that’s copyright free, didn’t come up with anything on Shazam but I did try for ya
It is called Casino by Rex Banner
@Chasp_0 yeh i tried that too but shazam didn't work.. thanks
@@WholesaleAutomatics awesome thanks so much cheers
Ofcause want to see what went wrong :)
Tear down!
Bye Craig. Best wishes
Thanks Colin
Love it 👍🏻
Do the strip down episode thanks guys 👍😎
Bloody easy with a forklift. Wish I had one. Definitely interested to see what went wrong with the old engine. Also, where did you source your new engine ?
Good luck Craig. Only here once . Follow your dreams mate. 👍
The new long motor was sourced from Croydon Toyota here in Victoria but we had to wait a few months for it to become available.
@@WholesaleAutomatics Wow. A brand spanker, not a full reco engine. That would have come with an eye-watering price tag.
Thanks for the reply.

Hey guys, it's been awhile since your last post.
What's going on us viewers were hoping for a post once a week
Is the new engine another vdj?
Yes a brand new replacement VDJ long motor.
Rocket,
Wot u doing with those new injectors in the bung engine? If you would like to off load them my old 79 has a home for them 👍😁
kennym
Yeh, bring on the wtf happened to my 1vd episode ….
What went wrong? I guess piston nd cylinder failure
Are you ever going to head out with 4WD 24-7 guy’s again Rocket??
When are we going to get the what went wrong?
Next video to come out hopefully.
First time watcher, why replace the engine if its just the turbo?
Turbo is fine, it's being overloaded with oil pressure from the engine, and we are also down 50% of compression on all cylinders.
@@WholesaleAutomatics oh OK, compression test was not mentioned in the video and YT didn't show me any sister videos to this one.
I’m guessing number 4 cylinder is crook.
If only most people were as articulate as rod, considering in every video he looks like he’s literally rolled out of bed and pressed record haha.
Nice work. Sorry to hear, but the abuse this thing has copped it’s done well.
