Should be changing all the rubber mounts at the minimum
Best time to do it with it out
Agree...400 bucks well spent.. made a big difference to our GQ handling and ride quality.
Thanks mate, after hearing all the suggestions to change them I think I will
While the injector pump is super accessible id highly suggest removing it and getting all new seals put in it. Ususlly once one seal starts leaking others will start leaking. Would be worth it for peace of mind while you're going to all of this effort. Loving the rebuild boys
Thanks mate !
Go rankin diesel for this mate he does a really nice job hes in baysey
Yes agreed mine starting leaking diesel
Man the music 😂 You fellas dropping an engine on a bare chassis or throwing the ring into mount doom? Love it
Great work boys. Good info that everyone can understand and make use of. Cheers lads. You're killing it.
Thanks Jon ! We really appreciate the support!
Episode getting better than ever .. cannot wait for next upload love the built boys
Thanks keil! Means alot!
Love your shorts, real outback Aussie 🇦🇺 something to make ppl subscribe.
It's been a while, and I still love your content, especially th one.
I would use genuine O rings on the injector pump. Those O ring set get sets get you out of trouble but are not a long-term solution. But still very inspiring video.
Slowly getting there boys. Gotta love having all the equipment to do a project like this. 👍
Thanks mate! We are very lucky, makes it so much easier!
Nice progress gents. It's starting to come along nicely. 👍
I'm more worried about the condition of your shorts than your engine and gear box mounts exposing those nuts to the elements could be detrimental 🤣🤣😆
Noice work boys!!
The build is coming along sick!
Can’t wait to see it finished and off on its first adventure.
Thanks mate!
Good work fella’s, as for the gearbox & engine mounts. I could see that engine mount was already worn out & gearbox mounts starting to split. While she’s all apart definitely worth while swapping them out. Keep it up boys!!
Thanks mate, yeah I think all these comments have convince me to change them!
Loving the content boys keep at it 🤙
Thanks Liam!
Another top video fellas can't wait for the next one.
Thanks Chris!!
even though they look alright i’d recommend changing the gearbox and engine mounts, it’s not an enjoyable job with the body on. get a racebred passenger mount as the left always brakes from torque steer, and then you have piece of mind they’ll last another 25 years. same with body mounts, just make sure you buy genuine
so many small jobs would be nice to do while there's easy access haha, I think id just go nuts and do every seal/wear part that I can think of
G'day Aussies Arvos, what happened to Liam's shorts? Definitely garage shorts haha.
Awesome video, thank you for the great content, I'm looking forward to the finished product. Will Liam paint his cab? If so, I'd recommend dark red raptor coat.
Hahahah! i know right, thanks mate!
Really great progress here. Interesting to see how much higher (I think) the engine sits in the coil chassis than the other one. Is this higher off the ground (maybe) or just above the rails and cross pieces. Is the engine / drive angle the same? You show the shaft differences, which is cool to see. Lovin' the project. Nice!!
I believe drive angle would be the same, not 100% sure though!
I really admire how precise you are like the break and diff spring for example. You could have just left it. But you made the adjustment and you a proper job with keeping it to a clean and strong standard.
You could have half arsed so many things but you took the extra time and I really like that and your build especially it feels more relatable to those out there who don’t have a whack of cash on hand to just buy everything it has heart to this build.
Thanks mate!
Great to see the Patrol coming together.
Brilliant work Liam and Patrick
Thanks Alex!
I had a Landcruiser ute on which I had a piggyback camper which needed a water tank so I buought a plastic tank & put it between the chassis and the tray. Now might be a good time to do so if you want to fit one.
This was a great episode, simpke straight to yhe point no flufing around.
Makes me want to give building a GU a go.
Super keen to see it when its done guys keep it up.
Thanks mate!
Great teaching guys. Learning so much very informative
Thanks Neil!
yes lads, love to see it
"this is where its going to live, till it goes to the tip" 😂
Favourite shorts mate 😂
Ahh, that engine installation music lads! The edge of my seat may never recover the ordeal! 😀😀😀
Thanks mate :)
Is there any reason you didn’t change the engine?
TD42 whilst slow, is reliable and healthy and even pretty good on fuel. Didn’t want to have to put 10’s of thousands for a new engine, supporting mods and engineering costs!
I noticed it's running the early GQ type gearbox with PTO cover. I have a complete PTO winch assembly to suit, shafts, control cable, supports. 10,000 LB, Powerauto winch head with 50m of dyneema rope. Can't sell it, nobody wants.
Thanks for the content fellas. Cheers
👍Great episode boys, look forward to the next episode.
Thanks mate!
Should think about doing injector pump and replacing the engine and gearbox mounts as it so much easier to replace at this stage.
Stunning job lads, you fellas nailed it.
Cheers theorislav!
The shorts situation is getting a little wild! Great work guys!
Hahaha! Thanks mate!
Need a shorts swap to go with it :D
Good job on the music
Great work. Loving the videos mate
Thanks Jonathan!
McGuire's aluminium wheel cleaner in the purple bottle is perfect for de-staining the inlet manifolds/gearbox etc its also the strongest degreaser I've ever used haha
Coming along nicely lads good shit
Great stuff, clever dudes
Great work ! fascinating to see ! Go the Patrol! 🛻🤙📹😎
Nice work guys she's comin along nicely 😎
Cheers Jay!
Flush you brake lines with metho, did my 105 series a while back and was surprised at the gunk that came out. Ended up fitting new callipers all round and a new master cylinder. Was only going to put new drilled and slotted rotors but hey where’s the fun in that🥸
Haha the music, love it 😅
U need to brace your rear coil towers otherwise you will bend them as they are highly known for it
Fairly sure they did this earlier in the build
Rear towers are already braced with the Blackhawk bracing. Differently style to other bracing so not as easy to see it’s been done!
coming along well!
Love the dramatic music 😂
🤣🤣 cheers , couldn't help myself
Canttt wait for the finale product mate
im just amazed you guy havent been age resticted with the state of Liams shorts!5
🤣🤣 i know right!!
Sundays are a bloody W.
Nice job bravo !!!!!
Just wondering what process you had to go through with VicRoads to make sure you could get the new build roadworthed and registered?
As of this point nothing has happened with vic roads. However based on the requirements for a chassis swap certification at vic roads I have already talked with an engineer who will provide a VASS certificate (engineers certificate). Then should be as simple as filling out some paperwork!
Yeah rule of thumb if your car says it’s empty there’s at least 20 L left well that’s what I’ve experienced in so many cars
It would have been much easier to change your fuel pump to boost compensator pump. It would still be ok with your factory 10mm
Great work.
Thanks Darren!
Drain your oil first then take filters off, no oil spillage ;)
The filters have anti drain back valves, there is still oil in the filters even if you drain the oil first.
My 105 cruiser has this nifty catch tray with a drain tube under the filter, makes changing the filter a zero mess job.
Hey lads have you sourced a steering column yet at all?
Leafy and coilcabs are different ran into the problem whilst doing .y old cab swap
Have sourced the lower shaft section but not a whole new column. I was hoping I could just replace the lower section!
@@jonesy1130 hopefully you can just do the lower, I never even thought of that when doing mine ahah
@@Wroeys4x4 update... looks like I have to replace the whole thing. Pulled it out and it seems GQ column is different design to GU and is single piece instead of two.
@Jonesy buggar always something
Where’s the superior suspension sponsorship? ;))
easy as... If only it was that easy every time
If those busted arse old shorts are NOT at the Sydney National 4x4 Show, I'll be most disappointed in you young fella!!
😂🤣😂🤣
🤣🤣
Let’s do gum guys !!!❤
🤣😁😁
Don't have a front diff your wrecking?
Yep we've got a front GQ diff
Message us on Instagram
I don't have insta lol I'm after the pin that holds on the panhard rod if they are the same as gu?
Good to see your efforts are starting to pay off slowly but shortly✔️✔️✔️ should be awesome in the End👍👍
We can't wait! Cheers :)
@@AussieArvos 👍
2:48 they’re literally splitting 🤦♂️ you’re going through all this effort just do them
Progress is exceptional so far...very few snags.
Speaking of brakes, would now be a good time to install ABS on the vehicle?
Although the diffs do have provisions for ABS. I won’t be using it in the build as I believe there has to be a bit of engineering/testing for it work properly
@@jonesy1130 Fair enough - its probably touch and go with the "engineering" as it is.
lets goooo
Need and new shorts ?
👍👍
What do you fellas do for a job outside of RUclips?
I believe Liam said in an old video that he goes to a university studying land surveying. 🤔
I mean no hate but u could atleast buy shorts that don't look like they have been through a war
🤣🤣
Get ya self done new shorts bro. Lol.
Someone has to say it.. that dramatic music was cringe and annoying. The rest was sweet
You should get a mits alloy tray
Making a 2 day job into a 12 month project.
Get some new shorts mate
Love the video but hate the clickbait. Makes it feel tacky and I don't want to click the videos because of it
Yewww
First
Stupid editing, made me cry when the engine was being removed and transplanted. 😂
Nice one fellas!
