I don't mean to envy her or anything but I can't help but noticing that living in a healthy society with a supportive family and overall encouraging environment can affect your academic life in a good way.
Obviously. But all those things don't necessarily mean automatic academic success such as Ruby's. I mean Ruby's own sister is just normal at school. But yes, of course it is extremely helpful if you have support.
Obviously, but a lot of rich privileged people still don't do well academically, despite all the private schools and the best education. The cast of made in chelsea went to Eton, and they still can tell the difference between 'they're and 'their'.
Burgundy Also you comment this on almost every video she posts...
Living in a rich middle class family also helps i.e. ruby
i'm sure i've seen this comment before. are you spamming it or
I don’t think it’s the cost of everything that makes people jealous or surprised, it’s that your parents bought you such adorable personalised gifts without having to ask you. My parents will always just ask me or give me money - the fact that they pay so much attention to what you care about is something special
saffysaffyrocks exactly what I thought!
Exactly... it’s really sad my mom doesn’t have anything in common with me and we do nothing together. She doesn’t have a slight idea of what I want, except “pens” bc I’m a stationary and organizing freak. I always have to give her an exact list of what I want then she literally asks me to find it online for her... so basically I’m buying my own presents with her money. It’s actually really sad that I’ve lived with her my whole life and she doesn’t even know what I like. She doesn’t even know how to buy basic teenage girl things, when I try to have fun and get a surprise she gives me stuff for five year olds. So, every holiday I am opening presents that I know exactly what they are and I bought them.
Sophia V hello dear. you are very, very lucky that you have a mother who is financially able and cares enough to buy you gifts at all. there are many people in this world who would give anything to be in your place and even have a mum at all - let alone one who puts in effort even if it is to buy “stuff for five year olds.” she cares about you, love! please be grateful because there are not many people who are able to say that about their mum. much love.
Sophia V loll i didn’t even get a present
call me gert thank you... I was just having a bad day... :)
_imagine being so british that you receive tea as a gift_
Angxlica I’m not even that British im from wales and I would love to receive iced tea 😂 ☕️
I do I bloody love tea ☕️

What I got for my Birthday:
A hangover
Perfect gift 😅
Mood
Me
i got school textbooks for the next year 🤟
Megan Plant what I got for my birthday:
a depressive episode
I honestly do not know why this is in my recommend but I’m not complaining. Although this video does kind of “show off” privilege, this young woman is so incredibly polite and appreciative. I mean, come on, I’ve never seen someone so thankful for tea and a label maker. You go girl! You’re definitely unique in comparison to other people your age but this is refreshing to see to say the least.
Thank you for this comment .
Honestly I don’t think she’s too privileged, obviously more than some but I don’t understand why she’s getting so much hate when she’s so grateful and polite, and then there’s kids on RUclips who get like three iPhones and designer clothes and no one calls them upper class or ungrateful. It’s rlly annoying ngl
Cool Rat Playing Piano totally agree!!! She's just always the nicest, hard-working, and appreciates everything in life. It's disheartening to see so many people hating on her being nice and tbh the most grateful
Cool Rat Playing Piano
Just to correct you. Other kids on RUclips get a lot of hate for even 20€ gifts.
To me she doesn’t seem to have gotten much hate for her WHAT I GOT FOR MY BIRTHDAY, but regular or people with different passions on RUclips get a lot of hate because some people call them out to show off their presents. Honestly the video idea is simply entertaining and interesting, plus some fans personally ask for it.
At the end of the day they are all showing and explaining, I never saw any of them (not even the ones with biggest presents) acting like they were luckier.
Matrix - The original. Ok
If Hermione had an RUclips channel...

Just because she likes studying? 🤷🏻♀️
She doesn't really resemble Hermione to be honest
Have you ever considered acting/narrating audiobooks? I could totally see you recording a children's book or starring in a historical drama.
i was thinking about this too!
She did narrate one chapter of The Night Circus.
like, really
she has a podcast entitled The Wooden Spoon (Not sure)
I could see her in call the midwife as an incredibly shy but headstrong midwife or nun 🤷🏻♀️
she deserves all of these presents. she studies so hard and probably goes through a lot of stress. not saying parents should reward studying, i just think she honestly deserves all of the things she got.
jas !!!
I kind of feel like parents should reward studying, but by helping to pay for things like university. That, is really helpful.
oh honey. no one deserves this level of spoiling. i feel bad for this girl.. she’s so sheltered
rachel :o you sound like a hater. lol. she deserves it.
rachel :o you sound jealous
@@helpme2732 I sense jealousy in its worst form.
She couldn’t be more British
Layzer I’m british and know no one that is anything like her (not criticising her just saying)
most british people are like Vicky pollard. Ruby is the stereotypical britsh person people think of however, the reality is most often like Vicky pollard of Janice battersby .
Enid Blyton ‘lashings of ginger beer’ British from the 1950s.
No lmao she really isn’t
You mean English - Britain encompasses more than just English peeps.
I’m not rich or anything but growing up my parents would save for a while to give me a lot on my birthday, I got around the same amount of things she got. Stop calling a young girl spoiled if you don’t know her situation, even if her parents are well off why shouldn’t they celebrate the birth of their beautiful daughter who is extremely well mannered and study’s hard! She seems very silent and kind. Everyone is so mean.
Thank you
The only reason someone would be mean here is envy. Ironically...when someone is privileged AND kind it can hurt someone who was underprivileged or who came from poverty much more than a rich person who is spoiled or awful. Because they see sort of what they dreamt about for themselves and never had the same opportunities to experience. There are kids who were in foster care, or dire poverty, or experienced abuse and a lot of those things keep people from succeeding as quickly or at all as they increase the risk for major depressive disorders and anxiety on top of the setbacks caused by being poor or being treated badly.
Consistent and lasting adverse life experiences, especially while growing up often cause...complications. With confidence or feeling "good enough" or feeling accepted or loved. While the nastiness is of course wrong since Ruby is lovely...my guess is that her life seems idyllic to many AND she is awesome and it causes people who were not given the same stability or consistent kindness by family a stab of emotional pain. Again, what I believe. It does not excuse the behaviour at ALL but it explains it a bit more.
And because Ruby is again...awesome...deep down they know they should not be attacking her so it can create bitterness. I would say to everyone who has a hard life or lots of losses or little support from family...really cast your attention on what you love and can improve because you deserve to be happy! My little adopted cat (she is 16) is my angel and helps me. Work or volunteer with animals, volunteer to help underprivileged kids with various support groups, and do things that are beautiful but which are not by their nature elitist...my favourites are going to the library, visiting the provincial parks in BC, going hiking, visiting museums and galleries on donation night, and learning how to draw or sketch. I also love watching old 90s films and comedies which I rent from the libraries. Take care, everyone.
❤️
This is the most upper class video I’ve ever seen
thats the funniest thing ever
😂😂
Polly Belcher Good one! Has anyone ever told you that you should be a comedian? 😑
Laurel Owen many times, I might even pursue a career in it *hint sarcasm
Polly Belcher 😭😭
She isn’t upperclass, or pretentious. She’s just classy and mannered unlike a lot of you in these comments. 😕 This my opinion. Don’t get butthurt over it.
If you didn’t know, the comments are about how she sounds and looks like an upperclass, but of course we all know she isn’t. I don’t understand how being upperclass is bad? And how calling someone upperclass is rude either.
Sapphiresoul It’s totally not! And that’s not what I meant at all! All I was trying to express was how a lot of the comments WERE putting a negative connotation on being upperclass, and associating it with being snooty. I think she was quite great full fo pr everything she got and really enjoyed this video. And yes, obviously I knew what the comments were talking about? I’m not blind :)
Idk why everyone is so mad she’s upper class like not every British RUclipsr has to be lower class and from London like there’s different types of people living in England. Yes she got a lot and she’s clearly wealthy but it dosent man she can’t share life and that when she is she’s showing off?.? Also she clearly has a vintage style and she can embrace that if she wants to, I think its gorgeous.
Eloise Nightcore I don’t think anyone’s mad. I just think their pointing out that she is unlike most British people.
People just find it incredible that she is a walking talking English stereotype. No ones really is hating they’re more amazed.
i’m sorry, it irritates people how sheltered upper class kids can be. she is obviously showing off. no one can relate to her and that’s why we dislike her- i mean she probably doesn’t even know what racism is lmao
@@helpme2732 She is very educated, so I wouldn't doubt her knowledge of social issues. Also, you openly admitted to disliking somebody purely based on their social status, yet you would be the first to complain if something similar where to happen in reverse order. Furthermore, I find your need for "relatable" content concerning, since we should all strive to surround ourselves with differing perspectives. Of all the stereotypes one might have of those wealthier than us, whether it may be fancy cars, excessive consumerism or a hate for the lower classes, did you have to pick an innocent girl making study-videos and going to tea-parties with her family?
rachel :o how can you tell that from one video? Would it be fair for me to say all working class kids are lazy and dumb? I don’t think so.
If i suggested to my mum she get me a birthday basket of gifts I think she’d boot me out of the car imagine 😂

People are so awful, commenting about how they can tell she’s rich, or that she’s privileged etc. She’s so appreciative and humble about the gifts she received and she definitely deserves them, so please just be happy for her! That dress you wore to the Ritz is absolutely beautiful! I wish I could pull off that style.

I've always wanted a typewriter. I love the aesthetic and antiquity of them and it's quite a classy way to write.
i’ve got one and let me say there’s nothing classy about fiddling around with dusty bits of metal and having ink covered fingers !!!

It’s one thing to receive an amazing set of expensive gifts but imagine your parents knowing what you like. My parents love me but if I asked them to name one thing I like they wouldn’t know where to begin.
Since I was little, I've always tested my parents to see how much they know me and how much I know them. I will randomly ask if they now my favorite color, food, tea, show, etc. and I'll do the same for them. I'm an only child so I guess I'm lucky I've always had their attention and that they know me so well.
You might be more wrong than you think.

This video called me poor in every single language 😊
Preach
Dang I just commented this oops
It was only her birthday present! She didn't buy them herself.. I don't get why this video made you feel poor lol
I suggest the issue is with yourself. I'm an average bloke on the street. Wealth and money, NOT ONCE, entered my mind. Because guess what, I don't give a shit if someone is rich or poor, so long as they are good, kind people. Which she is. And which, sadly on here, many people are not.
I love how appreciative she is of these, she deserves all these beautiful things.💘💘I’m hoping she never changes because I think we can all agree she is the epitome of politeness and productivity 🙏🙏
Lol. I would've legit gotten just the socks and pens 😂 maybe that face roller too xD
Simply Sookie jade rollers are surprisingly expensive
My parents don’t bother getting me socks unless I need them. We all know they are just going to go missing the next wash. 🤣
Ilaria Franchi they’re supposed to ‘depuff’ ur face or something and make ur skin softer ??
I love how grateful she is so it makes me less angry that she has such a perfect life.
You know absolutely NOTHING about her life. You don't know the struggles she and her family may have been through. Because you 'assume' she's rich, she must have had a perfect life. Why would it make you angry if someone's had a good life?? This is the problem with the world today. It thinks money will make you happy, protect you from pain.
such lovely gifts, your family knows you so well :) btw, Lamy has these refillable cartridges, which you might like! you can refill them with an ink pot. Plus you don't have to throw away the empty plastic ones :)

Kind of jealous my family isn’t rich enough to do this, but I’m still grateful for the things I do get
if you were truly grateful for what you do get you wouldn't be jealous
Dragon Fly don’t come on here and tell me I’m not grateful of everything my family does for me thank you. I’m jealous because we would have a much easier life if we had more money.
@@beepboop9976 but you said you were jealous because of the presents she got, how would getting expensive presents make your life easier?

So glad you got these beautiful presents, which are a small expression of the love and care your friends and family have for you. I got really exited about the writing machine. When I was 10 I became obsessed with them and scrolled through all online second hand shops...without success. Then I got really ill and one evening one of my best friends and her parents came to visit me and her dad gave me his old oxford red writing machine which he had got second himself (he found it in a street with a note that said “help yourself”). It’s the most touching thing someone has ever done! I kept everything that was in the box: old essays and papers that belonged to the original owner and my friend’s dad. I love the authenticity and knowing that I am one of the long line of owners that have written on it!

I love watching Ruby's videos because they are so sweet and I also love all of those gifts, but at the same time this really makes me realise how much my family is nowhere near middle class... I have some a lot of friends from pretty poor backgrounds so I always thought we were well off and I definitely feel privileged and usually get something nice for my birthday, but this completely opened my eyes to the size of the gap between the classes, seeing it come out in everyday life like this is fascinating.

Hi Ruby. To me, you are such a MASSIVE inspiration and you remind me to be myself no matter what anyone else thinks. I will be going to vet school next year and I was wondering could you do a video about not drinking at uni and not really liking going out partying? Thank you and Happy belated Birthday 😀
I would love to see that video too. i don't like going out and partying and because of that my first year at uni was traumatising and lonely so I'd love to see how Ruby dealt with it.
Don’t isolate yourself too much. Vets seem to be very social like Medics. You can still socialise without going bonkers?
do you need a whole video for this? go to the non-drinking events in Freshers, talk to people about what societies are generally more tame, and go out without drinking and excuse yourself when things get rowdy 🤪

The amount of hate she is getting is disgusting. She works extremely hard and is an inspiration to so many people, why can’t people just respect and be happy for her? Ok, but can we talk for a moment about how beautiful all of your clothes are?
your parents are really thoughtful, I love that!
*Wow cant relate lmao.*
But hey go you!
Just wanted to say that I have a lot of respect for you... like you being yourself and just....being real, thats very rare but very amazing
Happy belated birthday Ruby 😊 Love all the fab presents you received! I too love old department stores (I live near what used to be the oldest in the world, called Austin's in Derry, northern Ireland but it shut down a few years ago 😔) so I loved the Fortnum and Mason picnic hamper. Could you do a video on how you would pack for a picnic? Would love to see! Thanks and have a great summer 😊
Yes BUCKET LIST FAMILY❤️
And wow you get incredibly many presents, that‘s crazy! I get 3-4 items (like a book or a pen or a hairtie) and then one thing to do (like a ticket for a concert or whatever) for my birthday every year and I thought that‘s already a lot! And I live in Switzerland, which literally is one of the wealthiest countries on earth!
