I was thinking that. I'm never envious of the gifts, but having a community who knows you and cares about you that deeply is so important and rare and beautiful. As much as I love to see it I am definitely envious of that.
I’m old enough to be your dad (if I had a kid at 16, which wouldn’t have been ideal for me). But I do have a 3 year old daughter. What you’re describing as feeling loved is exactly what I think many parents want their children to feel. It’s hard to understand before you’re a parent, but you live for your kid and if they’re watching this video I’m sure your parents are getting the warm and fuzzies inside.

Only because I imagine you’re not the only one that feels this way - the increase in responsibilities and the pressures that come with adulthood can be super daunting. I also feel like - as women especially - we’re thrown in at the deep end and expected to have so much figured out in our early 20s. Would love to have your perspective 💕

In many ways she's years ahead: she's done incredibly well academically, has already written an excellent short story, manages a successful RUclips account, engages with important social issues and released an academic planner which sold out immediately. These are very much adult achievements (even though many of these came before she was an 'adult'). Her relationship with 'growing up' is, I imagine, far more complex than being "obsessed with being a child". Growing up is daunting not by its nature but by the social expectations that comes with it (especially for women). I really don't blame her for feeling the way she does, she's certainly not alone.
Yes I'd like to see that and can relate somehow. Holly Gabrielle talked about that feeling in her videos recently, I'd love to see Ruby addressing the subject too, I think many of us feel this way !

Ruby, that copy of A Little Princess is 116 years old! 😳 As beautiful as it is, and as lovely as it feels you might consider wearing gloves when reading it so it stays so lovely! Your mum and dad did a great job finding you that gift! There are not many of those left today I am sure!
Librarians don’t wear gloves to handle old books (it could cause ripped pages), but I would recommend purchasing foam props when opening the book to ease pressure on the book spine.
Actually, professionals don't use gloves, since its easier to rip out pages with them. They recommend to just wash your hands really well, because of the oils, sweat and dirt.

The day went ok, and the typical fear of disappointment faded over the day, but when I watch these or go to any birthday party, I remember the candleless cake or the lack of attention everyone hates on their birthday. And even though childhood is in the past, I still have to wrap something for myself if I want to unwrap anything on D Day. IF ANY OF YOU who usually fell let down on their special day: - everything is expectations!! Learn it as soon as possible. - If no one cares, you care, so plan and buy yourself something meaningful and wrap it with beautiful paper. - plan only for yourself or with those you know you can count. - Covid hit and you're still here, so be grateful. Few days ago, I was just scrolling through RUclips videos for books to read in a lifetime and your video popped up. It was about 150 books you read last year. Since then, something changed inside of me and it was the curiosity for books. I don't know when it started or how long this is gonna last, but after watching your videos, I felt like reading books is the best thing people could ever do. I felt like we don't get to live everyone's life, but we get to learn to live our life from those stories. And, what could be more important than being able to live with the memories of those stories? Till now, I've ready 8 books already in last few days and the more I'm reading, the more curious I'm becoming. This is very important to me because I had never read a book before in my entire life. Such wonderful and thoughtful gifts. I have pearls too but didn’t get mine until 10 years ago to wear on my wedding day from an old family friend ( no longer with us) whom we called Aunty Margaret. I love wearing them but not as often as I should. My hubby also got me some Pearl earring ( children’s ones as my ears are small) about five years ago. The moments and experiences we have - the intangible gifts - mean a great deal, and more so the older we get. The accumulation of things is not nearly as important as the accumulation of signs that we are loved. Material possessions are merely a catalyst for memories, and nothing compared to the company of those we care about.

For my 21st, I was living away from home in NYC. My family surprised me by visiting and taking me to tea at the Plaza hotel (of Eloise fame!) then we took a carriage ride around Central Park in the snow. It was the most special birthday! I felt so grateful and so loved. ❤️
Also, a neighbor was recently giving away that same edition of A Little Princess for free! You best believe I scooped that up! Yours is in much better shape than mine though.

Wow, your copy of A Little Princess is so nice! I just had my birthday too. I got some candles and a hunting knife, but the best part was my mother walking through the woods to play at a stream with me, which she would never normally do.
Ruby! With the earrings - there are earring converters you can get that turn real earrings into clip ons - you just slide them into the contraption and clip them on. In Australia we have a shop called Lovisa that sells them, I also don't have my ears pierced but it's great being able to buy normal earrings and just convert them.
I think I get it why there were past comparison comments like "the girl got xxx for birthday, I only get xxx". It might have nothing to do with financial background and stuff. The way you sharing with us, of how you are so loved by your family, is precious. It's such a straightforward and honest attitude toward receiving people' love. Don't lose it, it is good to be grow and educate like this.
Those books are just beautiful you are so blessed to have such a loving family. Sadly for me my birthday is often forgotten so I make sure to treat myself.

Beautiful books make such amazing presents! I’ve bought this lovely Folio Society book for my favourite tutor who has been absolutely amazing this year supporting me through finals in a pandemic, and I can’t wait to give it to her! All of these presents are so lovely 💖💖💖

For my 21st, I was living away from home in NYC. My family surprised me by visiting and taking me to tea at the Plaza hotel (of Eloise fame!) then we took a carriage ride around Central Park in the snow. It was the most special birthday! I felt so grateful and so loved. ❤️
Also, a neighbor was recently giving away that same edition of A Little Princess for free! You best believe I scooped that up! Yours is in much better shape than mine though.

Wow, your copy of A Little Princess is so nice! I just had my birthday too. I got some candles and a hunting knife, but the best part was my mother walking through the woods to play at a stream with me, which she would never normally do.

Ruby! With the earrings - there are earring converters you can get that turn real earrings into clip ons - you just slide them into the contraption and clip them on. In Australia we have a shop called Lovisa that sells them, I also don't have my ears pierced but it's great being able to buy normal earrings and just convert them.
I think I get it why there were past comparison comments like "the girl got xxx for birthday, I only get xxx". It might have nothing to do with financial background and stuff. The way you sharing with us, of how you are so loved by your family, is precious. It's such a straightforward and honest attitude toward receiving people' love. Don't lose it, it is good to be grow and educate like this.
