Honestly it's kinda my goal rn. I'm running a budget system that cost me about $250 or so in total and my windshield came with a crack in it when I got the car so it needs a new one anyway. I feel like blowing it out would mean I finally have a system worth bragging about, at least a little. I think I need more power though
I'd be more worried about my hearing sitting in those. Even with hearing protection that noise will go through your cheek bones and damage your inner ear. I worked beside a rock crusher for a few years with full hearing protection and still damaged my hearing.
I love bass, but I dont like bass when its ridiculous like these cars. One 12" sub with like 500w RMS is good and perfect for me and wont destroy my ears, hopefully.
Sound reproduction, including frequencies lower than human hearing, is anything to do with intelligence? IMAX must have been started by a fool then, same with all the Cathedral organs, some with 64ft pipes that reach as low as 8hz...all fools? Intellectual ability, okay let's talk about some of the smartest minds created some of the worst devices.... such as thr nuclear bomb.... Yep, even intellects can be morons.
Two questions. When you build these systems for competitions do you also buy multiple windshields and rear glass for just in case? And after that kind of vibration do you have to go and retighten all the interior screws?
Nope, believe it or not, windshields are pretty strong, mine was cracked to all hell and held up at 151db. But when you're hitting 160+ thats when people start going with thick bulletproof glass. Also yes, sometimes things has to get tightened back down or replaced.
Low frequencies don't do near as much damage as high frequencies..like power saw type noise kills my eardrums also my drum kit hurts my ears worse than a 155+db vehicle
Partly correct. The ear canal is almost like a snail shell and it curves around. The outer most part handles high frequencies noise and the most inner the low notes. As you age the outer part does a little hence why adults don’t hear the mosquito noise. But you also need to view the ear canal as a bunch of trees. If those Trees are blown over they are dead forever. If bent they may return some hearing. This is why explosions and also extreme bass can cause permanent hearing loss and the shock wave knocks over the trees and the bent trees that spring back will never be 100% functional more like 80%. This can also accelerate natural hearing loss by the damage. This is how we explain to miners that hearing protection is important and does not mean your a punk.
Being partially deaf in your 40's is a real pain, people think your ignoring them & also because you dont reply half the time people think your being ignorant, because of that, it can become really unsociable, especially at the pub etc. It aint fun later in life.
Bet you could learn how hard it is to damage your hearing with bass, it's not the loudness of the frequency with bass, the only way to damage tour hearing with bass is by actually creating enough air pressure to damage your drum, unlike with frequencies between 2KHz and 5KHz. Some education wouldn't go a mias?... Ps, rhetorical....
Paying thousands of dollars to destroy your vehicle. It’s a fun way to do it. I’m sure most of the guys competing have beaters they put systems in, not their daily’s.
I don't understand why they don't put a nice piece of clear lexan in they make lexan thick enough to be cut to shape and installed exactly like a windshield is on a car so that way it looks natural and not riveted in like on a racecar and you won't worry about breaking windshields and if you put clear pull offs on it which is films that stack on in multi layers to protect it from getting scratches and dirty and you just pull one layer of the film off when you need to when it gets to dirty or scratched up from cleaning and beyond cleaning that top layer that's what I did on my comp speaker/ show truck that also makes 1800 rear wheel horsepower on small tore slicks
I was building crazy systems similar to these back in the 90's. I shoehorned 4 Fosgate Punch 15's into the back of a Dodge Daytona. My friends made fun of me for wearing safety glasses when i tested it... not knowing I had already had to replace the rear glass once.
On new years eve one midnight.... Instead of setting off fireworks, why not turn up the bass! That would be a really good idea. Instead, I would have the speakers not in the car, but outside the car. That would be amazing. It would really carry.
The mirror shaking can crack it. If it is in a small vehicle. Edit: Video at 4 min proves this. Windshield is cracked right where the mirror would be before it gives way. Once it is weak don't take much.
The only question I ask is why? With windshields costing as much as $4K to replace, I certainly wouldn't be doing that.
