Thanks for the quick video upload. My MNTD miner flat lined last night and I was able to pick up a Sandisk 128gb High Endurance card and it is back to syncing :D
I did this, but used the 128GB Samsung Pro Endurance card in my goldspot. Works like a champ. The 128 card was a tad above 20 bucks on amazon. Overkill, but no more space issues.

Bro, I am so fed up with my hotspot and having 0 support. It’s been issue after issue. The helium network is absolute garbage. Anyway, thanks for all of the great content and specifically this video. I guess this is my next step.
Sorry to hear that! I am finding anything I do, I have to wait a week on. Make the change, move it, upgrade it, wait a week to see the results.
I did this exactly and now my miner shows up with bluetooth but wont connect, in the video you say NOT to "format" it after it flashes but someone else is telling me you have to right click the drive and format it to "exfat" BEFORE you flash it with balena etcher?
Since I have two of the older Rak v2's I'm going order two new min SD that are 64G and load up the firmware. The one at my apartment has had some issues so it prob needs to upgrade, but the one at my dads been running strong, though I'll prob do the upgrade any way. My BOBCAT is up next batch for delivory and they come with 64G all ready. Going to put that one at my sisters to going to be intersting to see how it works out too.
Pro tip for using Balena Etcher: I have a Mac Mini and use a dock that has an SSD in it and ports for SD/Micro SD cards. I couldn't get the SD card to show up in the list of targets to install the MNT .img file. Found out that the file can't already be on the the hard drive you are assigning it to. Moved the .img file to my desktop and off of the dock SSD. Then went back and it was selectable in Balena Etcher. Even though the dock ssd and SD card are two different drives it was getting confused.

Please look also to the Memory type. SLC, MLC ,TLC or QLC, this because of the maximum total read writes of every individual. If there are a lot off them you have the possibility of a degradation problem.. I wouldn't recommend QLC and TLC
I bought a couple Sandisk 128mb MicroSSD's and it automatically partitioned the drive once I flashed the zip. The drive only shows 8mb available out of 32mb. Is this going to be a problem once I plug it into the miner?
Hi, I might get this through stockx, the gold version but how would I know if it comes with the updated 64 GB card or do all the gold ones that were produced come with the stock 32gb and none come with updated 64gb card?
Upgraded to 256GB, Installed the most updated firmware, 2022.02.17, I know it's "beta". But the previous version didn't seem to help. But my miner doesn't seem to want to do anything. It says syncing, but that # keeps going up...

After upgrading the SD card, the miner would not connect/pair via bluetooth to the Helium App at all. Am I missing something? TIA

So I have the blackspot miner it has the 32gb got it onboarded miner says inactive ran diagnostics had incoming peer but no outbound also no block height so I went to upgrade put the 64gb sd card in and the hotspot was named something complety different ran diagnostics and it didn't show anything

Reconnecting to WiFi through the pairing mode is crucial.
My Gold is up and running and the diagnositcs are fine and shows active and pinging on the website, but the app on my phone says "needs attention" and "hotspot off line and not syncing". I never put the 64gb SD card into the miner... Is it required?

Hi, just tried to flash my brand new SanDisk microSDXC High Endurance Video 64 GB, but balenaEtcher ends with error after Verification Flash failed. I can see the files in there, but MNTD won't boot and bluetooth pair, it sais Hotspot Pairing Failed, Hotspot Miner is unable to respond to requests. Is the img file OK ?
Mine flashes, but when I scan for the miner's connection, it detects but says it's unable to connect and must reboot the miner.
Solved. I cloned original SD card to 64 cards in balenaEtcher, and it works.
Gues i have to change the sd card too. What is wierd with the standard antenna it works but not great the moment i add my 5,8 dbi it flatlines.
Would a larger micro sd card be an even better upgrade?
Is it worth upgrading to 128 or is 64 just fine?
I just bought the cards with the files already on them and they sent me new little stickers were whatever to go over slot

I know the new ones come with a intenal 64G drive as I'm waiting on mine and just looked it up. I'm prob in the next batch so hopefully will get it within the month....man been a long wait. I have two RAK's right now so this will add to my collection. I'll prob order and change out the SD on the Raks any way just to get them up to the 64G too.

It will sync so much faster if you port forward it right away. I have 7 helium miners including the 5g helium miner. Also I have a few big eth rigs. Message me if your interested it talking mining and thanks for the video as always.

Any ideas why it does not want to pair bluetooth after I change the SD card? If I put back the old one the bluetooth works fine....

@@fattidbits If I remember correctly I just connected it via ethernet cable and left it like that for the night.... The next day I maybe had to try a couple of times but it finally miraculously connected. I would advise to be patient, especially now regarding the recent update!
I lazily bought a 64 gb sd replacement, with everything flashed onto it, from Rak directly. Came with a black replacement cover for the back.

I received my gold rak miner with the upgrade kit. However, after it started flashing the card my computer said there was an issue and it rebooted my computer and it burned out my card.... so i am going to go with the 128gb sandisk extreme pro or western digital industrial and see how that works.
Never heard of that one. If you want to save the 64GB microSD have you tried reformatting it? I think the microSD in the upgrade kit is already flashed with the newer operating system.

How long did it take for the miner to RE-sync after putting the new card back into the miner?
It does a snapshot. So it was at 99.46% right after. Took a few hours and was done.
@@TheHobbyistMiner Mine started re-syncing three days ago at 99.6%. Today I'm at 99.85%. At my current pace, it will probably take another 24-36 hours. Wonder if I should just bite the bullet now and put the new card in. The card I have reads at 160MB/s and writes at 60MB/s.

I am having issues finding a miner actually in stock. I have two freedomfi reserved but its gonna be at least march before it even has a chance to get here. Any idea where to find something in stock?
I ebay'd my mntd, paid for itself in the first month even if it cost 300 more than the drop.

Not sure what I did wrong. Went to the website, flash the software into the new card but my hotspot has been offline for over 48 hours. Did we had to transfer any files from the old card into the new one ?

no unzip, at least in the US. At least for the MNTD, you don't need to.

If I just bought a gold mndt miner yesterday with the new drop, is that expected to have the new 64 GB or do I need to update it when I get it?
I believe all new ones will have them. But can't hurt to check.

I just got mine today.. it came with a little bag labeled "upgrade kit". It contained the micro SD card and adapter. I just did the upgrade few minutes ago.

not with the 128, it will allocate all of the free space.

The process of syncing is 0% after replaced the SD card 12 hrs ago, is anybody know what is going on with the Helium Network? or reason why?

Let us know how the 128 works. I saw on Reddit that going over the 64 could possibly cause issues as well.

I have been using a 128 for the last month or so and so far doing great. I followed a guide online that i found basically same steps. So far this one hasn't dropped off again since then. I did upgrade the antenna to a 5.8 and just putting it in the window i am getting around .20-.35 helium per day off it. Hoping to get it put on the roof to see how much it increases it then.
Are helium miners still backed up everywhere?

How about a video on getting these out of relayed mode
When light hotspots arrive (sometime this year 2022) you won't need to worry about relayed mode. In the meantime, spend some time learning how to fiddle with your router's control screens, find the internal iPv4 address for your router, set up a reservation for that in DHCP (so the router doesn't change the internal address of the router), and redirect port 44158 to that address. If that fails, GristleKing has a failsafe guide.
Unplug for 30 mins, then plug back in if this happens. Until you can get the SD card upgraded
I did this to all 3 of my miners so far and everything has worked out fine except when I go to sync using Bluetooth. All of them show errors and won’t sync but they still accumulate properly, so I don’t know if that’s normal or what. Any feedback?
did you figure this out? Mine will no longer sync to Bluetooth after doing all of this. annoying asf
@@clovisalves6520 one of them finally synced but all the damn rewards have gone down drastically once again, kind of annoying like you said. It doesn’t seem to matter if it syncs or not because it’s still gaining, but this isnt cut and dry…

No need. These devices have snapshots taken so syncing takes only a few hours and it starts off at like 99%

Sounds like an AntiVirus or Browser Issue.
When you use BalenaEtcher you can "Flash from URL" so you don't have to download yourself--just enter the URL. On a Mac this is useful since zip files automatically unpack in Mac OS.
helium block chain apps are pretty fked and never update info my miners are running fine but they just report wrong info. you have to connect to the miner and get the true info
Mite have to do this I had something similar about 2 weeks ago hasn't happened again though but I've also been thinking about upgrading to raspberry pi 4 8gb model too on my rak v2

Odd that you have to pull the SD card out with tweezers as most of those SD card slots are typically spring loaded

I wouldn't recommend this, after I plugged in my 128GB Samsung Evo SD CARD and followed these instructions it won't pair even after pressing the button. Switching back to The regular sd card.
I cloned my existing one. Take it out, create a drive image, burn that image to the larger SD card. By doing this you won't have to wait 2 days for the Blockchain to download / avoid 2 days of downtime.
what do you use to clone it? The same app etcher?
Ok I might have lied. The clone utility in balena kept the same size as the original. I had to take an extra step to extend the data partition in gparted. This requires downloading gparted, using balena to burn a bootable USB and then booting to it to resize the ext3 partition. There are easier ways to do this like Acronis disk manager but that was not free.
@@moriartydrwatson3468 i tryed with flashing but that didn't worked for me, it gived me error on payring bluetooth, so i must try your method , can i resize ext3 partition with partition magic in windows or i need linux ? and it will still need syncing a lot after this clone ? thanks !!!

They screwed us made us wait 6-9 months for the miners only for it come with a crappy SD card and work for a few months now we have to spend more money do tech work and still haven’t recoup the initial investment ..what a rip off. At this point I want to sell mine on ebay and be done.
The card quality itself isn't the issue. They were short sighted and cheap not to do the 64gb to begin with. I replaced mine a week ago with the 128 high endurance and my goldspot works better than ever now.
You didn't have to replace the card, your hotspot just fell behind the blockchain, if you had left it on it would of been fine. They don't all need a new sd card in your scenario

Rak & MNTD are the cheapest company in existance. Ship a new product that needs an upgrade... insane
well they should have used 64 gig and new ones are coming with them so they are correcting this but not sending everyone a free card is cheap
Need to update yourself on the sd card info. The evo is a horrible sd card. Those, both the Sandisk and Samsung read at 100MB and write at up to 60MB. You’re going to have the same problem as before. You need one that will write faster and has higher endurance than the evo. Sandisk extreme pro or western digital industrial. Both can write up to 90MB and the industrial can write up to 2000TBW.
I have a Rak V2 having issues. I have a Sandisk 128gb Extreme Plus, 170 read/90 write that I will be installing. Should this work?
