4:28 Mario Kart 8 on Wii U actually sold 8.46 million copies. It was the best selling game on the Wii U… and even more wild is the fact that the game outsold Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Mario Kart: Double Dash, and the original Super Mario Kart despite the Wii U console itself only selling 13.56 million units.
If you combined both Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, you get a total of 70.43 million copies.

@@bennygbanger Oh I don't think so. The Mario Kart team hasn't put out an actual game since 2017 with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and ARMS. By the time Switch 2 comes out, they will have had at least 8 years to make a new game. A new Mario Kart doesn't normally take this long to make. We used to get new entries every 3 years or so (usually coinciding with new hardware).
It's much easier to go back to the drawing board and make something completely new when you've got all the time in the world and aren't rushed with strict deadlines. See: Super Mario Bros. Wonder

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is Nintendos golden laying goose, that thing just will not STOP selling.... they were smart to capatilize on it with the DLC add ons and also attaching that DLC content to their online subscription to drive more sales there as well. It's minimum effort, Maximum profit situation. As the classic meme goes "IT PRINTS MONEY!"
The funny thing is that isn’t even the latest Mario Party game that people seem to enjoy more (Superstars). So Mario Party sells extremely well overall.
I think they'll stealth release Mario and Sonic at the Paris Olympic Games in June, or make it their July title. It's so weird we haven't seen anything about it yet.

It definitely needs to be a full step and a big enough jump. Sure the games have been mostly great and successful, but the actual hardware itself and operating system and online infrastructure is just SO outdated. Hell in terms of online and community, the Switch was still a step backwards when compared to the Wii U.

i am strongly considering buying the next generation nintendo console. haven t owned one since n64. i m pretty confident that it s going to suck. i am cursed.
The Switch already has plenty of good games. Sure it doesn’t have high quality like PS5, but the games really make up for it. Also it should be backwards compatible. Best game to start with is Zelda Breathe of the Wild.

It HAS to be marketed as a completely new console. Totally agree that it has to be called the Switch 2. Don’t even mess around with calling it “Super Switch”. There can be no confusion about it the same way there was with the Wii U.
If the console looks similar, Nintendo will need to really make it obvious it’s a completely new console otherwise people will think it’s just another variation since there are already two variations of the original switch.
