    Great review. The Ridgeline is an excellent midsize truck; the best midsize IMO. I owned a '08 and absolutely loved it. I currently own a '21 and love it too. They tow my 2500 lbs boat and camping gear very well!

    I got an 07 ridgeline. I cannot be happier with its performance. Haven’t had any kind of issues with it whatsoever. I’ve of course done general maintenance oil change with a good synthetic oil every 4000 miles and at 100,000 miles I put a timing belt in and since I had the front end apart, I went ahead and changed the water pump, even though it didn’t need it. I just recently passed 200,000 miless. I’m gonna go ahead and put another time and water pump on.

      Make sure to have them throw plugs and a valve lash adjustment and it will be golden, after I did it to my pilot at 200k it drove like a dream, felt like a new motor, but a couple deer took it out at 224k and it was still getting 19.5 combined city/highway

    Great video, I just watched it as I was driving my 07 ridgeline with 177,000 miles on it while towing a covered trailer loaded with a mechanical bull setup in it with the total weight being at right about the max of 5k. Pretty much all highway for about an hour and fifteen minutes, with no real issues whatsoever. She definitely worked a bit harder than her normal everyday routine requires, but other than guzzling gas she performed very respectably for a maxed out haul.

    PLEASE Remember....It is not about the trucks ability to "Tow" or pull the trailer. Engines can do it, but you need to worry about the axles, brakes, and the trailer driving you. That is where the accidents happen, when the trailer drives the truck (brakes are under powered for the weight, wind blows and trailer acts like a fin, swerve/turn becomes wobbles you cant recover from because trailer is too long or heavy).

    I hate to say I've gone over the tow rating with my '06 before when moving pavers, tile, and lumber before (when I had nothing else because my K1500 was down and out). I'd say the main things where the ridgeline lacks for max towing is engine power, braking, and the macpherson struts make the rear a little soft leading to wag the dog issues over about 40mph. The 6 cylinder is nice, and usually handles the job well enough, but I've definitely hit situations where I've had to drop it to first gear just to get it up a hill. That was with a 1000lb trailer, with 3400lb of lumber, and 1000lbs of pavers in the trailer, and another 1000lbs of pavers in the bed. Even with much smaller loads though, the rear struts tend to be really soft.
    Now for the ridgeline bragging bit... They handle the mud and sand really well. I've even pulled an F250 4x4 out of the mud with it, and driven up muddy hills where other trucks couldn't get the traction to make it up. They are great vehicles.

    Jack up the front end and shake each tire 12 & 6, 9 & 3 o'clock position. It could be a control arm ball joint or tie rod. If you have moment on any bolts or noise when moving the tire have someone look on the other side to see where it is coming from. Worst case scenario it's your rack and pinion clunking. Whatever you do make sure you use jack stands and wheel chocks as needed. Looking forward to your update.

    If you tow your boat regularly, i'd advise pulling the boat tight to the roller. I had a boat the was a bit back end heavy and it would bounce if i didn't get it pulled tight to the roller, after a while it bounces and beats on the bow and can hurt your fiberglass.

    Did well pulling it. As far as acceleration, you weren’t even really getting on it, so it wasn’t working terribly hard.
    Honestly, if I were towing that type of weight often, it would probably not be in a midsize. You don’t see many trucks pulling that sort of weight anyway.
    Always liked the Gen 1. Currently have a 2021 with the 9 speed. Getting ready to move 5,000lbs worth of car on a U-Haul and may film it too since everyone says they can’t tow anything.

    • @703Speed
      @703Speed  2 года назад +1

      Yeah true, it did do pretty well. Just had the timing belt replaced after this video and have noticed it has a lot more of its power low end again, so it cruises a lot better now than it did believe the belt was replaced(for the second time). Very true, if I was towing this weight often I’d either get a GMC Sierra 6.2 or the 3.5L Ford F-150. I like the Gen 1 too, because it’s unique looking and also very reliable. I also love the G2.5 - the front end looks way better than the G2. I’d be interested to see how your truck pulls with the extra 30 hp u have as well as the 9 speed

    • @owequitit
      @owequitit Год назад

      @@703Speed never responded. Pulled the full 5,000lbs with no issues over multiple 6% desert mountain grades in AZ summer heat at the speed limit. The extra power and 9 speed made it a non-event. The engine sometimes works hard on big hills, but that is a function of its NA design and doesn’t hurt it.
