    Thanks for the video Lyle,
I just changed my belts after watching your video and 90 minutes was right on the money.
I left mine in the vertical position and worked off of a 6ft step ladder. "I" had the belts changed faster than "I" could have indicated the head if I had done it horizontally.
Once again you have proven yourself as a wonderful asset to the RUclips community.
    Thank you.

Mr. Cain, you might list a few of those colorful expletives. It is my understanding that vocabulary enhancement exercises go a long way in getting machines repaired . . .
Love your videos. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your knowledge with us.

Mr Pete, I really enjoy your videos but I found this one too brief and would have liked to have seen more of the teardown and reassembly to understand the problems you can come up against. Cheers

G'day from Australia. I certainly enjoy your tutorials, learn heaps. Sir, I heard you mention before running your mill after maintenance, that you would turn on the phase converter and then power up the motor. Can I assume that you are using single phase and stepping it up to 440V 3 phase? Did you ever consider making a transition peice and running a single phase motor....... the reason I ask is because I am looking at purchasing a used Bridgeport S1J head which over here runs on 415V 3 phase to 240V single phase and the only difference being the single phase motor will be a bit bigger in size. I would really appreciate your comment, or anyone else's for that matter. Keep up the videos, love them, regards, Gordon

      +Gordon Agent Thanks for watching-my phase converter changes to 3ph 220 v.
It works great so I'm fine with it.--though there is a power loss, but I have never noticed it.. You can also use a VFD

I would have liked to see you take the motor off. I just got through installing a power draw bar on mine and now it seems to be squeaking a bit more. I drilled 3 holes in the pulley cover to mount the PDB, so I'm thinking maybe some chips are still in there ? I blew it out as best I could but maybe something else is going on ? It still seems a lot more quiet than yours though.

I'm surprised that the BP uses a timing belt for it's spindle, yet it's able to achieve 5 micron runout. How is this possible? The timing belt adds so much chatter and nuisances, I assume the BP has some complex bearing system which locks the spindle from any slight deviations as it spins.

Never cut old belts, save them for back ups. Before you do anything lower spindle, this lowers spline, in return you can jus lift head off and reinstall without taking the flange off timing cog. Smoother, faster, and u don't have to wrestle timing belts.

    Hello,
I have the same bridgeport mill cutter in my workshop, but I have a problem: this timing belt had failed during operation, and when I was going to replace it I find out that de dimensions of the width belt and separation between the tooth does not match with any standard timing belt, for instance: H or XH profile or T profile. My question is, where can I purchase this timing belt for replace it in the mill cutter for continue with my work.
    Thank you
    Greetings from Costa Rica

Denis, soy Erlin de Honduras. Estoy buscando las especificaciones de esta banda también. Compré una nueva y no cuadra con los dientes que tiene la mía (67 dientes). ¿De casualidad tienes información acerca de ella?

in the video at 1:03 you can see a view of the spindle pulley hub, is there a way to remove the steel ring on the bottom of the hub in order to use a file to clean up the end gear slots? thanks

+Norm Staley Its a long time since I filmed this & I forgot. You need to find a parts diagram & see how its put together

even though the gear or cog or whatever its called didnt look damaged I thought I would dress the edges a little because I was having trouble with it jumping out of gear under a load while milling, but after looking into the problem a little more I discovered that one of the springs that puts pressure on that gear is damaged and may have even been causing the teeth to not fully engage, working on that repair now, trying to find a supplier for the spring thanks for the reply, been nice talking to you

Helpful tip if your timing belt isnt broke when removing the upper housing its easier to remove if you cut the belt. I did this when I changed both of my belts. if your just changing the v belt you have to remove the plate off the rear pulley to remove the top.
