Getting ready to pull the trigger on getting these scales for this exact same stock Griptilian and to be honest I have always been somewhat apprehensive about taking apart my pocket knives, especially the big names like Spyderco and Benchmade. Your video was thorough, simple to follow, and dare I say peaceful? Thank you for a great disassembly demonstration! Now all I need to do is decide on what color combination of scales and backspacer I want!!
I just installed the flat earth colored scales with a black backspacer on a Cabela’s D2 black blade Griptilian. It looks fantastic and is now my favorite knife.
Odd the Griptilian doesn't yet have a -3 (CF/S90V) version and a -4 (Alu/k390 iirc) for the Bugout. As not everyone has a TORX set or is planning to swap out the original scales...willing to add almost another $100 to the knife just by adding scales :)
Well I took it apart again and reinstalled the scales and it works fine now. I reversed the orientation of the pivot pin and that seemed to do the trick.
I got my benchmade griptillian in 154cm on sale for $80 new at cabelas. I love it but don’t like the plastic scales. I thing ill cerakote the blade black and use these scales. Thanks for the great video!
I would imagine they will scuff after awhile just like the emissary and 940. My emissary took a long time to scuff up though and it was all part of the appeal. It gave the knife some character. Then I lost it and I am super pissed...
The pivot pin is one of the most piss-poorly designed things I've ever seen in my life. My knife is now ruined, as I can't get it back in no matter what I try.

All the amazing prizes and these great upgrades make this gaw truly epic.
So true, brother and good luck!!! I can use a real edc knife like this one so I can get rid of my wife's steak knife that I carry, lol.

I’m considering these for my Griptilian. How’s the handling? Is it slippery without the texturing?

I'm having an awful time getting the pivot pin in. It's like it doesn't fit in the hole. do I need to sand it down with file sandpaper?
Do they make these for the mini? I didn't like them at first but they have really grown on me
This is just what I was looking for! thanks!
Mine is tight, won’t open freely. I can back the pivot screw out till it’s sticking out and it’s still tight.

How much weight does this add?
Is this gun metal gray or black? Thanks
Could you use blue loctite on all the screws or would that in some way be bad for the aluminum?
You probably figured it out already but I think it would be fine

only if they offered scales for other models, im a big fan of the s30v steel maybe on a freek mini Id be all over it !
How scratch and wear resistant are they?
They will scratch and scuff for sure.

Sorry i just rewatched and they are gray
Your link is broken

Ugh if I just had a cnc I could make such better scales these are so plain.
