I was told by cgc customer service that the creases on my recently graded examples are “normal” and they wouldn’t do anything about it…. I’m baffled at that response 🤦♂️
I sent mine back, if this is normal I wont be sending in anymore to CGC or buying them off ebay. Me and my friend have about 50 ea we wanted to send in over the course of the next year and I have about 20 more I wanted to get signed at cons. Im sticks with CBCS for now on for signatures and waiting on PSA. Seems CGC is getting worse and worse ea year which is sad.
It's definitely not been all books at all but sometimes it does happen where they'll use a bad stack of case materials and the book will get damaged. It happened on my one and only order with CBCS also where one book was encapsulated wrong and another one had a label that was crooked as hell. I've submitted over 10,000 books in the last five years though and they've probably damaged three of them and paid for the book, every time. I'm not sure how PGX does anything though because I would never use them. I won't use CBCS again either since CGC does verified signatures now.
Same thing happened to me with a batch of prescreened 9.8s. I ended up with at least 2 with spine ticks, one of them pretty noticeable and is now definitely not a 9.8.
ya I had to take pics of them for my friend, since he wont be able to get them from me for a month, hes pissed as well cause after all the hunting he did for a mint transformers books only for them to have ticks now.
The inner sleeve is TOO Long. The books that move, move left and right. NOT top to bottom of the case. They don't move top to bottom because the book is too tight vertically. The plastic sleeve is too long and being bent when they put that into the outer case. It's that simple. CGC has a major legal issue coming their way.
One other explanation is that It could be the temperature difference affecting the slab when the item is shipped from your CGC to your home. Your comics are uncase in plastic that means, your comics will be bend when the plastic slab bends.
Love your channel, you’ve done some work for me in the past, when it comes to statues. So I trust your insight. I have yet to send in any of my books to CGC this past year, and I was, until I saw this video. Now I’m having second thoughts. I may ask my friend what’s going on with CGC since he does send a lot of his books to them. On top of that, this may be the issue. Let me ask you a question, when did you and your friend start to notice these creases when you had them returned back to you? Because I’ve noticed this past year there have been many comic conventions and this may be the problem with the company. They had so many orders from attending and being mailed in, they are now just rushing these orders to get them processed and delivered back to the customer. They usually get swamped during the summertime. And as stated, about this years’ comic conventions, there has been a lot. CGC usually deals with the bigger orders first, putting them ahead of everyone else, such as my friend who usually sends over 50 books a month! He never has(so far) issues with them. So I’m sure since he spends more for their work, they’ll take extra care of his items over ours. I’ve actually tested this theory out, when it comes to speedy delivery. I sent in 4 signed books weeks prior to when my friend did so. A month later, he received all his back! It took over 6 months for me to receive mine! Lastly, I’ve dealt with CBCS as well. I too have never had any issues with them. Like you, I think I’ll stick with them for the time being.
Thing is in 2023, I did some signed stuff at Baltimore con and I think during the summer of 2023 we sent in some books for basic grades, I had no issues with those books. So since then I havnt really sent in any, but we sent in this batch about a month or so ago and only mid way did all this come out bout warped inner wells. So it was way too late to stop them from grading y the time we found out. When I got the books in the other day when I was streaming I already herd about the warps and damages so live on the stream I went thru ea book and showed everyone. So noticed right away and even if I didnt know about the damages I would have seen all this cause everytime I get my books in I always check the case, book etc. just to make sure no cracks or anything stuck inside like hairs. I think CGC between the scam, lawsuit and now this they are falling from grace.
Whoever is making the decisions lately at CGC needs to stop. They have been making changes but not the positive type of changes. It is baffling, utterly baffling. There is a right way and a wrong way, it is that simple.
ya to me cgi has fallen from grace, I no longer trust them for slabbing my books now. Waiting for PSA to see if they take over for my box collection ones, but sticking with CBCS for signatures for now
@@VinceVellCUSTOMS ty for the reply. Honestly, the CBCS cases have been proven to be superior. The “value” difference between CGC and CBCS is so superficial but so many people go the CGC route just because it is the norm, or they find it financially worth it. CGC and CBBS slabs have been deconstructed on camera and posted on RUclips. CBCS HAS been proven to have better quality. They have a crimp that holds the inner sleeve in place which connects to the label which helps to prevent tampering. Night and day difference if a person cares about quality over speculated value. It is a whole thing, and it goes on and on 😂 sorry for rambling. Excited to see how PSA does. Heard their slabs are chunkier.
ya I saw a video of the new slabs at SDCC, but they went around asking for feedback and the rumor is they will cut down the size to what everyone else has and possible redo the labels.
My 2 theories is that because of recent scandal they went too far in trying to secure their slabs and there is no venting or little (this may have been the issue with rings. The other is less likely improper inner wells.
Sorry to hear this is still happening, don't know what up with CGC. I can tell you Vince you are not the first collector to notice this. I would definitely contact CGC back and ask for a refund.
ya im going to contact them tomorrow and see whats going on, my friend is pissed cause took him about a year to hunt down some mint books to send in. but then again its the hunt going to cons and comic stores that makes it like the old days of finding grails, but only for them to be trashed.
with my books I doubt thats the case, these books are not worth the hassle and or risk for something thats worth like $5-10 a book. We know they are not worth a lot, but it's the sentimental value to us of hunting mint books and sending in for displays etc. Now isnt why they have a lawsuit against them for switching out books or something? Between the lawsuit, re holder scam and now this, its not looking good.
Well CGC is the go to and nets you the best return on selling, while CBCS is a rival it doesn't get as much as a resell value. But to me they both have their ups and down. While smaller ones like PGX no one really uses. Sadly the hobby has become all about value more than what you love. So end of the day you pick which one you like the most and then slab for display or resell. But PSA is coming out soon with comic grading and they are the top for cards, so they could take over the industry since CGC has nothing but issues from a lawsuit, scammed cracking open slabs and switching out books to now this. So for me what I do is just grade what I want for display purposes to build a nice set up cause I like the slab look.
i have some comics i'd love to send in but i hate hearing the horror stories. i have about 2-3 that are worth a couple hundred and werewolf by night #32 but was over a thousand when the moon knight show was on but i think the value dropped. i'd still want it graded though. someday.
Ya I get getting those graded, but as of now things seem to be a mess I would hold off. If your doing it for personal reason just for the love of having them and slabbed wait, but if your waiting for the value to maybe flip wait it out and see if they fix their issues or PSA or CBCS takes over teh game as the main slabbed company to use.

Dealers gonna be stuck with bent CGCs nobody will want to buy.
yup and now im sure people will have to post spines up close and sides and if the numbers starting with 431 etc will be bad hoodoo to own

I stay away from 9.8 grades now… cgc has lost the customers trust… what good are they now
Agree!
Its crazy! Im not sending anything in to CGC until they fix it. Im sending out to CBCS.
Same thing happened to me with a batch of prescreened 9.8s. I ended up with at least 2 with spine ticks, one of them pretty noticeable and is now definitely not a 9.8.

Are you certain Power Girl's knockers aren't bending those books?
Then it's a good crease I suppose. 8)

I just receive my spider Gwen back from CGC and sure enough it’s bent and has the exact same bent you showed on your video.
Ya seems it's the same spot on the other transformers books I have in the box as well when you hit specific lighting to see it.
that's now a 9.4 raw book lol
You probably caught Joe the grader on a bad day.
Seems he must be there all week long with other people getting him as well,

Possible but at this point they are ruined compared to how they were sent.

@@VinceVellCUSTOMS it is an MJ Comix livestream from yesterday. Lot of info on psa
ya im going to finish it today couldnt stay for the whole stream.

Man , cgc is a F scam and the doing the same thing with Pokemon cards
oh so now I need to go down the rabbit hole on the cards with them? are they bending those too?
You’re kidding me! No way!

CBCS new cases are tanks, and their new labels are better than their old ones. CGC quality control and grading has slipped since all the new hires.
