    Wow, I rarely watch playthrough but this one I watched it till the end. You did such an excellent job at explaining the game. Also your pace is really good as it keeps the audience attention, while your voice tone is quite relaxing. Great video, thanks :)

    One thing I wish was specified on the board and/or player aid is that military has a max of 2 recruit per turn. It mentions it in the rule book but not on the board/aid. This really jacked up my first game because everyone was paying 60 money at the end to put 12 military out and spending another 10 to move most of them to adjacent places and it was insane.
    Completely different game if you know you can only recruit a max of 2.

    Lighter Civ game that appeals to the TM crowd and can be played in a reasonable amount of time. Looks like a winner to me.

    Just wanted to let you know this was a very helpful and professionally produced play through/ rules overview - one that helped me decide to back this game on KS. Happy to subscribe to your channel - keep up the great work!

      It sounds like they are significantly shrinking the player boards for the production version of the game.

    There should be a symbol for one time only effects as well as ongoing or end game.

    • @JonGetsGames
      @JonGetsGames  3 года назад

      That would be good, I hope they add something like that for the final version. I believe they have quite a bit of finishing touches to do on the iconography still.

    I am surprised to find i am attracted to this game a bit more than I expected. WHile not a run out and back (so far) the KS, its on my list to get at some point in retail.
    The board is indeed big, and i think they might be able to separate the actions areas to a separate board, giving more flexibility for fitting onto a variety of tables. The player boards are well laid out, but could be shrunk quite a bit with no loss of clarity or functionality.
    As for the art, i like it. its simple and and seems to fit the genre well and above all, its clear and easy to read. ALso, this is a prototype, so there is ample time for the artwork to get in the way of the game play.

    • @dbf1dware
      @dbf1dware 11 месяцев назад

      In the newer version of the game, they did indeed shrink the player boards. Much more efficient. Overall, the art looks better and it all seems a bit more compact -- although still quite large as far as total table space.

    At 54:16 According to the rule book, you are allowed to recruit and move with the same military action.

    • @JonGetsGames
      @JonGetsGames  Год назад

      Huh, perhaps that rule changed from when I got this prototype to the final version.

  • @tychay

    Strategically, I would have gone for the Diplomacy tech over building military units when none are built. If you had the requirements, it would have been cheaper (10 coin at most vs. 20 coin), wouldn't have lost you any military units in first scoring (because you had none effectively saving you 10 coin), and would have allowed you to push the opponent military from turkey to greece netting you an outright win there (net extra 6 points). The only minus I see is it would have flipped an extra tech card advancing a game timer.

    • @JonGetsGames
      @JonGetsGames  3 года назад +1

      Interesting insight. I was mostly focused on showing a variety of play vs playing super well and I think you have some good points here.

  • @JJ_TheGreat
    @JJ_TheGreat 3 года назад

    45:30 But we wouldn’t gain any points either (since subtracting a negative number is a positive)?

    • @JonGetsGames
      @JonGetsGames  3 года назад +1

      That's correct, I could have been more specific there. You only lose points, never gain points, from unrest.

  • @JJ_TheGreat
    @JJ_TheGreat 3 года назад

    32:18 Huh? What do you mean by this? You just spent some time to tell us the reason that they went with Tyranny was because that was the only Government type for which they had the component for. They were looking at the Theocracy, but didn’t have at least one of the required component.

    • @ormstunga7878
      @ormstunga7878 3 года назад +1

      They all needed that black ”tag” government component. Tyranny instead needed the red ”tag” military component. Which kind off makes sence.

    Hmm. I like the idea of this, and I'm always fond of civilization building games, but I do have to say this doesn't look as exciting as I was hoping. I agree that it is oversized, and honestly I really don't like the art, it is a huge turn off for me.

      I agree, This game don't seem to value the amount of money it cost ... A lot of minis, many token rewards, a clear way of victory is to develop population ... A friend back it so I'll try it in a year (or more 😁). Thanks Jon good job 👍

  • @kristijan1985
    @kristijan1985 3 года назад

    I was excited about this game but now after the campaign started I am not anymore.. This looks like an overproduced family game, not thematic, art is pretty bad, especially the leader cards, and pretty similar to Terraforming Mars as people say and that's a huge minus for me. Terraforming Mars is a way overrated game in my opinion.. it is not very bad but it is just okayish to me, I am willing to play because other people want to play it but would rather play something else all the time.. My wallet is happy :)
