I didn’t really understand the show much, but I throughly enjoyed watching it, it had a cool intro, with a funky song, it brings back memories, along with the music that the Monkees had, R.I.P to those who sadly passed away, 🙏🏾. You are never forgotten. I don’t know how many of the remaining Monkees are still with us, I believe there are just two of them now?
Damn this just brought back so many memories of me in the 80s as a 8 year old kid watching this, Mr Ed, I dream of Janie and bewitched. That's when life was so great and care free
Aaaah mate it's the 1980s it's the summer holidays and it's a daily dose of these 4 brilliant men then off out all day on our Grifter bikes or play on our ATARI and Commodore 64s. Mate we had it good
Matey ! The Comm😮dre 64 or less sent Men to the Moon ! Isn't that a laugh ? Now we have pocket sized touch screen smart phones with way m😮re computing power !
Me too. I.used to watch this on Nick and had no idea they were actually a thing. I thought it was the show and that was it. Turns out a friend of my dad's used to be in love with the monkees
I was a little girl during the original run of their show. A few of their songs became hits on the radio as well and as I got older I learned to appreciate and love most of their more obscure songs. I remember most of my little friends had a crush on Davy Jones, but I loved Mickey Dolenz because he was the funny one.
Remember when TV was happy to show repeats of something brilliant from 30 years ago? That's how I was born in 1980 and grew up in the late 80s / early 90s watching The Monkees, The Munsters, The Addams Family, Car 54 Where Are You?, The Beverley Hillbillies, etc. Brilliant shows. We didn't care that most of them were black and white - black and white was normal back then - all the best films were black and white. Who cared? It was the scripts and actors who mattered, not how many pixels or colours they could fit in. The storytelling. The vibrancy of the characters. The harsh reality of the war films. It was a great time - we knew back then that films and TV shows were giving us an "impression", and that not every shot was a perfect reflection of the reality the Director intended. We knew the dog fights were edited together from old wartime films, edited together to convey a story. We knew it was a model of the Titanic sinking. We knew Doctor Who's TARDIS was in a studio in Lime Grove. But we enjoyed them because of the MESSAGE and the STORY. We didn't need to see everything perfectly rendered as if we were in the eye of the writer... But these days the message has changed to "If it's not pixel perfect, everyone hates it." Newsflash: Modern films are just CGI trash made with AI scripts and most people over the age of 35 are sick of it. Give us Aliens, not Alien: Romulus. Give us Terminator, not Terminator: Dark Fate. Give us films made by filmmakers, not moneymakers.
We have now lost Mike Nesmith along with Peter Tork and Davey Jones. Only Mickey Dolenz is the sole survivor of the group and will carry on the tradition. May the rest of them RIP.
I always used to wonder where and how they filmed the bed scene in the introduction...seemed to be a bit like Monty Python, like somewhere in downtown London or wherever, and the British people are so polite that they just ignore the whole thing.
For a (very) brief period in their career the Who tried to reinvent themselves as the British Monkees! Check out the videos for "call me Lightning" and "Happy Jack"...
1n 1967 I was five, and did not understand their humor. Now forty six years later I see them as entertainment for teens of that era. Just like Gilligans island, only way more silly.
When the show was in syndication this intro was used for both seasons. Growing up in the 70's this was all I ever saw. I never saw the first season intro until I got the DVDS!
RIP Peter and Davy. I love this show.
Rip Michael too
💔🥺
And now Mike. Mickey is the only one alive now.
❤️ the monkeys TV show& their super great music
Only one left is Mickey.
I wasn't born for the original run but my sisters and I watched this every night when it was on Nickelodeon back in the late 80s.
This song has been eternally stuck in my head ever since I heard in on tv a single time when I was 4 years old.
RIP Mike. Thank you for being such a huge influence on my musical and pop culture taste. You will be missed.
You said that really well.
This was a Saturday morning mainstay at my house. Space Ghost, Jonny Quest, and all the rest.

I loved this as a kid. I only saw reruns during the 80’s, but from what I remember it was a fun & enjoyable show. I need to look up some reruns.
I'm a child of the 80s and born 36 years ago as i was 4 watching this on Nick and Nick introduced me to the monkees

Maaaan I use to luv this show!!
Ricardo p.lucas, os monkkes tudo de bom. Brasil.
Looking at the opening credits it gives the vibe of being a proto-version of Jackass.
'And so you better get ready
We may be coming to your toooowwwwn' ❤ Xx
We have now lost Mike Nesmith along with Peter Tork and Davey Jones. Only Mickey Dolenz is the sole survivor of the group and will carry on the tradition. May the rest of them RIP.
Adored with guys and so upset to hear about Davy and now Peter so tragic xxx
0:27 why’s Peter getting pushed around in a tub?? Lol
Just something they did during one of the music intervals in the show.
I Love that ending.👍🏾
Kurt cobain used to love this when he was a kid.
They were also a major influence on The Beatles.
Repressed monkee memories from being a kid watching this in the 80s 😎
It always cracked me up when they would introduce their names in the intro. The faces were too much!
R.I.P. Peter Tork
Damn, I was just getting ready to watch a Monkees episode and then it cut out.
I really want Micky’s Poncho!! Very Hippie 😍✌️🌻.
RIP to the 3 members of the monkees
Season 2 opener. RIP Michael, Davy and Peter😢
I can't believe they all died in less than a decade barring Mickey Dolenz. Even The Beatles still have Paul and Ringo....
And may God rest Davy Jones' soul.
RIP Peter
What episode was 0:19 The top hat and tails.
I always used to wonder where and how they filmed the bed scene in the introduction...seemed to be a bit like Monty Python, like somewhere in downtown London or wherever, and the British people are so polite that they just ignore the whole thing.
if it was NYC the drivers (ie cabbies) would have been laying on their horns and giving them the finger.
I've often wondered if this would have been the product, more or less, had The Beatles chosen to do a television show modeled ofter HELP.
What episode was 0:14
Childhood right here
I love those handsome guys am so sorry too of them
Alas, we never knew how great you were, until it was too late.
Alas poor Urique, We knew you not.
For a (very) brief period in their career the Who tried to reinvent themselves as the British Monkees! Check out the videos for "call me Lightning" and "Happy Jack"...
RIP Peter Tork
RIP Davy Jones!!
For that record, The Monkees aired from Sept 12, 1966-Aug 19, 1968.
RIP, Mike
Forgot about how they got the names wrong in the intro, that's pretty funny
That confused me so much. Like "Man they have a lot of Peters...and they all look the same?"
R.I.P. peter tork
Pretty soon this song and tv show will be like Dagwood Bumsted and the show Blonde etc, Forgotten….sad.
They walked so Big Time Rush could run
I used to say Hey Hey Where The Beatles, and people say were Bugging Around.
During the Peter bit Peter started crying like a Caillou.
I think ME TV airs this during the spring
RIP Michael
Only Mickey left. These tv part of my childhood
RIP Mike.
"Ah, you know Davy Jones passed away recently."
-Tom Barrett, Brighton-Cromwell ("These go to 11.")

1n 1967 I was five, and did not understand their humor. Now forty six years later I see them as entertainment for teens of that era. Just like Gilligans island, only way more silly.
