    great video bud i have been eyeing the tactical games for a while not so much three gun, being military etc. it resembles alot of our combat match in the army

      It's a great community & much easier to jump into with minimal gear vs 3gun. They are just starting to publish the 2023 calendar now, but depending on where you're located a skirmish might be a good option as well.

    Just more excuses to buy more guns and build different styles. You will never find an exact setup for what you like

    Gotta ask, why bother with the SCSS if you aren't running suppressed? May as well run a A5 system, IMO has far more benefits than a SCSS. The only thing it really doesn't do is get rid of the spring noise.
    My "comp" rifle is a KE KP-15 with a SCSS. Upper is a P&W 13.9 with a suppressor. Just get a quality cover for the can and you won't get burnt.

    • @actiongunner
      @actiongunner  Год назад

      The lack of spring noise is nice but the cycling has a different feel with the SCS that I've grown accustomed to. The only benefits I can think of with the A5 is compatibility with sim bolt carriers & price - curious on your thoughts here.
      I've tried a number of covers for the suppressor and they work ok - part of the issue with this build is that it's buried under the hand guard & required a custom solution. There are definitely ways around it, but not worth it when there's truly no benefit to running a suppressor. The other draw back is getting gassed out when canting the rifle through ports or awkward shooting positions.

      @@actiongunner Personally I find the A5 system to be smoother than the SCS.
      As for suppressors. Mostly it is for hearing protection, my hearing isn't the greatest and even the best ear pro isn't perfect. I am absolutely happy to trade a few seconds off my time so I can still hear 50 years from now.
      I also just like teaching others about them, you would not believe how many people think they are illegal or wear out after 1000 rounds or other such myths.
      Gas can be an issue but an adjustable block and some RTV around the charging handle makes a huge difference.

    • @actiongunner
      @actiongunner  Год назад

      Sorry, I didn't catch that your last comment was held up in moderation for some reason. Interesting on the A5 - different strokes kind of thing I guess. I had put an SCS in one of the first rifles I built many years ago and that's all everything got going forward. It feels strange any time I'm working on a rifle without a captured spring now.
      I am a firm believer that everyone should own at least one suppressor, they do offer such a pleasant shooting experience & I'd probably hear a lot better today if we could have used them growing up while hunting. They are a little bit less of a hassle in TTG now that rifles are grounded at the firing line for most of the stages - but my list of cons is still heavy enough that I'm sticking with a traditional flash hider.

    The platform that you evolved to, what does something like that cost in terms of price range? Pricing and spec details?

    • @actiongunner
      @actiongunner  7 месяцев назад

      Around 2400 for this one (I was 2580 after mn sales tax). If you shop around or sub out components you can save a little money but will likely still be north of 2k with today's prices.
      13.5 light contour barrel, pinned 3 prong muzzle device (16" is a great length to go with now)
      GS9D Adjustable Gas block
      12.5 MLOK handguard
      Radian Ambi charging handle
      Forged receiver set with microfit pins
      BC3 BCG (I recommend going with a full mass carrier though)
      Drop in 3lb flat competition trigger
      JP Silent Capture Spring

    If there wasn’t the stupid NFA, what barrel length and gas system length would you go with? I’m thinking 12.5” with a longer gas system length might do well.

    • @actiongunner
      @actiongunner  Год назад +1

      I'd stay in the 12.5-13.5 range for sure, plenty of velocity for the games I play.

    • @LRRPFco52
      @LRRPFco52 Год назад +3

      @@actiongunner I’ve been eyeball-deep into ARs since the 1980s, and I’ve come to the conclusion that I don’t see any need for more than 12.5” for 5.56 especially. BC and projectile weights are so low that you really don’t get much performance from 16-20” like many people think. They’re 200yd guns mostly if you want mediocre energy-on-target.
      Step into 6.5 Grendel and it changes everything performance-wise. I shoot my 12” Grendel out to 800yds regularly, haven’t even used the highest BC bullets in it yet.

    • @Nuke-China
      @Nuke-China Год назад +2

      @@TAGsten Depending on body armor setup and shooting position, adjustable LOP is a must.
      Also having a fixed pistol grip sucks as well for people who want a more vertical angle.
      Also the idea behind removing as much weight from the lower and stock makes no sense -- the stock is one area you don't necessarily need or want to remove weight as it can act as a counter weight, making the rifle handle better overall.

    • @TAGsten
      @TAGsten Год назад +1

      @@Nuke-China
      The logic behind the KP15 is pretty simple, you are trading adaptability for simplicity and low weight. Everyone body is different and it might not suit everyone but its absolutely sufficient for the vast majority of people.
      I've shot mine in a plate carrier with 1.1" plate while wearing cold weather gear. I've also shot it in a tshirt. Several thousand rounds in competitions and training, I've never encountered a situation that I wasn't able handle. Not once have I thought to myself "damn I really wish I had a adjustable stock."
      Same goes for the grip. Its effectively a copy of a Magpul MOE, its perfectly good for the vast majority of people.
      Weight is weight, and balance is overrated. If you want better balance build a lighter upper or get stronger. I've done many competitions with my ~6.5lb "comp" gun but I've also run my ~12lb Block 2, I do about the same placement wise. Your physical ability and technical skills are far more important than the gun.

    You could just stayed with the first rifle and loose some body weight. The gun could only save two pounds at the most. You could probably loose 10 pounds without breaking a sweat.
