- Contrary to the name of the game, you don't need to be tactical or fully "kitted out" with your plate carrier to play in The Tactical Games. In fact, it's actually best to run as minimal of a setup as possible to make the weight and plate carrier requirement.
In this video I cover the plate carriers I have experience with & additional considerations on what to use for plates.
thanks for the beta! I'm just starting out and this is what I needed to know as someone 50+ it will make training a lot easier.
Good info. Jacked rabbit for the win. Just ran them in Meridian 2023 in a slickster. One movement called the weave would have been much more difficult with ridged plates. The little things makes the difference. Kelly N.
Very informative. Building my kit and this really helps.
Glad it was helpful!
THANK YOU! As a hopeful to get into the sport and go in 2024. This is such a great video. You off handed my used some terms I am not familiar with as I do not have a MIL nor LEO background. For us beginners and new to the sport. Please explain all terms.
Is the Tactical Games plate carrier that you reference the same as the Foundation Series plate carrier on the Tactical Games website? It's the only one I see? Thanks in advance.
Yes, you'll be happy with that option. The Javlin Concepts carrier I reference in this video is no longer made.
Great video! I've heard people mention the Jacked Rabbit plates but never looked into them. They look like a winner and I'm probably going to buy some and use in my Javline Concepts plate carrier. 😀 I currently have the Rogue Echo plates and those things bounce like there's no tomorrow. Do the Jacked Rabbit plates stay in place in the Javlin carrier? Thanks!
They do, they are a full profile fit & firm enough to not bounce around. These things pretty much hug your body once you have the carrier adjusted.
@@actiongunner Thanks! I bought a pair right after your video. Hope to have them in time for the SC team event. Let's go!!!
There's a carrier on the market that you fill with sand but to make weight it ends up being bulky. Do you think using a steel bearing in the $40 sand carrier would work? If so, what size bearing? 1mm, 1.2, 1.8 etc ?
Possibly - but you'll have to play around with it. I would just use something like zinc plated shot for shotshells, maybe #6 or #8 size. What I suspect you'll run into problems with is the amount of dead space in left in the carrier after filling it with the appropriate weight in shot - if it's too loose it'll be bouncing around on you quite a bit.
Also, I'm not familiar with the carrier but make sure it's an actual plate carrier for the tac games. I believe the sand training vests are no-go if that's what you're referring to.
How often do you have to run mags on the front? For working out, I used the Go-Ruck weight vest which is basically a slick plate carrier with the rogue cast plates. Was curious if I get by with a slick carrier and put extra mags on the belt.
If you can fit 3 on the belt comfortably, you'll be fine 90% of the time. It is somewhat common to need 4 rifle mags but I've never had an issue stowing the 4th in a rear pocket. It is rare to need all 5 mags, but don't be surprised when they spring it on you.
I plan on keeping the Javlin plate carrier slick for this season, but will always have the placard ready with pouches just in case.
What is the name of the krptek shirt that you are wearing ?
Quick question for the "Jacked Rabbit Flexible Trainer Plates (Pair)" what weight would you get them? mix 7lbs and 5lbs? or all same weight?
I have 2x 7lbs & that brings my total weight to just over 15lbs on the Javlin.
