    Not just wrist, a lot of power can also come from tensing your fingers at the right time to flick the racket really quickly. It's how they make drives look so fast even though their movements seem minimal, power in the fingers and the speed you can tense them is underrated.

      There are two reasons. First of all the angel you watch is brobably provided by the bwf bird eye camera, the picture becomes 2D in that angel so it is hard to see the athletes speed. The second reasn is that their shot quality is so refined that they limit their opponents' cjoice of shot, and by anticipating mentally they become more effortless.

    • @grml0815

      On top of Yichen's reasons, I'd add another: I strongly believe that masters of many different crafts do make it _look_ easy when they perform, whereas they actually deliver the most difficult results to achieve.

      there are several reasons, but to add to the ones the others have provided, I believe the video is sped up a bit. if you pay attention to the audience, you see people walk, drinking water etc. Normal people dont walk and drink water or move that fast. the low framing rate of the video also adds to the illusion

      I you watch this video ruclips.net/video/p5Xp4SdjHUk/видео.html&ab_channel=ShuttleAmazing, Pete Gade moved much slower, hit not as hard and did only basic shots. However, the quality of shots is at another level comparing to the young player.

    The main reason of professional competition looks more relax are
    1: all players need to prevent injury during matches, any injury will lose chance of championship.
    2: they have daily match during the 5 days competition which is huge exhaust of stamina.
    3: BWF has an regulations says All player ranked 1 to 15 have to attend at least 10 BWF international competitions to secure a round 64 position. if you miss out, you will lost your priority. So all top players are almost in competition every month.
    Take Axelsen in Tokyo championship 2022 as an example:
    22 Aug: Round of 64,
    23 Aug: Round of 32,
    25 Aug: Round of 16,
    26 Aug: quarter-final.
    27 Aug: semi-final.
    28 Aug: final.

    Salute for white shirt athlete, he got an ankle sprained (I guess) at 4:30.
    then he was no longer able to hit full smash anymore.
    Lost in second game, then won in third game, very impressive.
    His opponent may not noticed an injury or got distracted by high speed game.
    Otherwise, he could deploy another more advantage strategy.
    However, it was high quality match indeed.

    • @icedlatt3
      @icedlatt3 Год назад +2

      That was a near sprain, but definitely not one. Or else he wouldn't have been able to maintain such a high level of play and speed to continue the match. I've experienced this several times. It's very likely he was able to realize the misstep as he was still transitioning his weight from the other leg, and he reacted in time to avoid fully pronating his right foot, which would have sprained him. If you watch it slowly, in that single motion of changing direction, he essentially took 2 steps with his right foot. He probably overstretched the ankle further than the normal comfortable range of motion, so it would have been a bit sore for a time after the misstep, but it would have gone away later on, probably.

    단식은 큰스윙을한다면 상대방에게 미리 알려주게 된다
    손목을 많이 사용하는 이유는 스윙크기를 작게 빠르게해서 상대방을 속이기 위함이다
    단식은 공 속도가 엄청나다
    단식선수는 공을보고 움직이는게 아니고
    본인이 넘긴 공의 거리와 상대방이 따라가면서 만들어지는 동작에서 확률적으로 준비하게된다
    자세히 본다면 치는 사람과 받는 사람의 방향이 같아지는게 보일것이다
    술취해서 이래저래요래 적었다
    선수들이 치는 공을 보고 따라가는 사람은 없다

    it doesnt matter how many times people say 'wrist', the wrist is never used in badminton. the snapping action is from pronation or supination, which is an action of the forehand. the wrist is slightly cocked and does not move during this action. again, there is no movement of the wrist that generates power in badminton. zero. great match. thanks for sharing

    • @devnarayanpan4503

      Yes! You are right this is a myth of using the wrist

    • @markoligaya560
      @markoligaya560 2 года назад

      I slightly disagree, as a player that mostly uses net play, I always use my wrist especially if the shuttle is already a bit low. I also use my wrist if I get tricked a bit when the shuttle moves to the back, if you don't use your wrist it will most likely be a high clear but that would put you at a disadvantage, by using the wrist you can lower its trajectory within the net in order to have better time collecting yourself. Low backhand shots uses wrists and cross net play as well as cross in but in a normal drives and normal defenses, your statement would be correct.

    • @markoligaya560
      @markoligaya560 2 года назад

      This is just based on my experience playing the sport and I mean nothing but respect because your statement is right in everyway.

      Looking at just the arm, the wrist flexion contribution ~30% (and that is without the wrist flexing fully down like you see in beginners) and the shoulder contribute ~50% to the racket speed at point of contact for overhead shots. Pronation only contribute about 10%. The forearm looks like it is rotating, but it doesn't rotate much relative to the upper arm. It is actually the shoulder rotation which rotates the whole arm. Pronation is for control rather than power.
