Recently received my copy of this game and rewatched your full playthrough. You do such a good job explaining the game as you go, and I really appreciate the notations in the closed captions regarding design changes since they match the published ruleset. Excited to play this soon, your video really helped me get up to speed!
Amazing play through! Love the camera angles and how clear the audio is. Backed this game after your concise 3 player version. Thanks and keep up the good work!!
This just came up on my suggested list and it was a really good playthrough. It did a really good job showing how the game plays and I can see how you want to lead or join caravans as often as you can. Hopefully my copy will arrive before the end of the year.
Man, Jon, as usual, your playthrough make games that I was not even considering backing to go to the first place in my to get list...Good job I suppose? My wallet doesn't like you but my happiness with good games does!
Enjoyable playthrough, I did back game between watching tutorial and this video, but I knew I will be interested in game, but this went over my expectations.
Watching your playthroughs are so valuable when it comes to making a decision about whether to back/buy a game - thanks for your hard work. Also, when did you use your crystal on the 'Oracle Die' space for the Raven companion? Must have been off-screen sometime between 24:44 - 27:17 :)
Question for perspective. This play through was made a year ago, and we just received it now. You have Klingon notes about design changes, but nothing about when those notes were made. I watched this today to learn the game on my table. The question is, do/did you update this to final rules? The same set we now have in our hands?
The only clarifications in here were added based on the ruleset that existed during the kickstarter campaign. So unfortunately this may well be out of date, I don't know how many changes they made (if any) during production.
it looks as though sometimes you are using the dice that pushes through the first slot (from wheel) to craft and sometimes using the dice that gets pushed off (movement) @ 27:40 you should have crafted a staff, not a weapon
Unfortunately I did make that mistake a couple times. I have notes in the Klingon subtitles about them, they do help make the playthrough more accurate when turned on.
Help me understand why any player would ever take a travel action using a shortcut? They have to spend three lanterns and choose last from the bonuses. They gain two bonuses, but will likely lose something from their wagon and end with a net gain of one bonus. Why would that ever be an advantage? Do bonus objectives really outweigh the loss of an item from your cart or losing an adventurer?
In the tutorial video it was stated that if you had 3 travellers and got another one you would have to discard one of the 3, but in one of the last turns the new one was chosen to discard.
Hello, When you move a die up using the left most option you seem to decide which dies value you use either the one you have moved up or the one that gets pushed up. Most of the time you use the one that gets moved but at about 27mins you use the one that gets pushed. What are the rules for what numbers are used? Also great videos as always, best reviewer for me by a long way!!
The rule is that you use the newly locked die for taking a good. This is explained at 2:50 in the tutorial video. That being said, I did screw this up at least once where I used the die that was pushed out and it sounds like perhaps this happened more than I caught. Do you happen to remember at what times you saw this come up? Glad you enjoyed it :)
@@JonGetsGames I know its old but I would love to see a quick run thru of Raiders of the North Sea with or without the 2 expansions in play!! As always great job!
The placing the die on the board only to take it back half a second later seems redundant and tedious. If the value on the die could do something or the die could be left there for some reason I'd see some point to it. Right now, its just a reminder to move the die off the caravan I guess?
It makes more sense when placing two dice (one being illuminated) to track which of the districts has been activated and to restrict where the other can go.
End game scoring in this one is a cool concept. The pushing dice action seems a bit weird. Also, as a strategy error, the crown card that gave 4 coins if a condition was met was taken instead of taking a guaranteed 5 coins for a leader bonus. Edit: btw I watched to the end. Great playthrough!
Something strange happened here. I distinctly remember using that crystal to roll the oracle die, but it's not showing up in this video. Looking at our board state vs the previous turn we have a new hero and I do believe that was the reward we got for the oracle die roll. I must have accidentally cut out that part of the video while editing. I'll add a note to the Klingon subtitles.

I just received this game on Monday and was using this video for rules understanding. Great playthrough! looking forward to game night now!
Thank you for such a detailed game playthrough! Right in the middle of watching get that needed that game and went to the store to grabing it :)

I'm so glad you enjoyed it :) Hope you enjoy the game too!

I know I commented on the other video...but I cannot stress how good these are. Thank you for your hard work.

Yay, Jon. You won. I always believed in you.

Great video, you have sold me on the game! Keep up the great content!
16:56 the red player you mean? LOL, great content once again, high quality. Nice job.
Ha, whoops! Must have been focusing on the blue armor they had. Glad you enjoyed it :)
Excellent job as always John!!
Wow, that reroll at 50:05 went amazing for you. From all penalties to all bonuses, including two 6s.
Hehe yeah. I considered "cheating" and rerolling it but decided to let it ride :P

Huh, I definitely remember using that bonus to roll the die but it appears that part got cut on accident while editing. Sorry about that!
@@JonGetsGames No problem - I just had to do a double-take :) Looks like you were able to recruit a hero from the inn from that roll
It was interesting to see the design changes. Cool to know they are continuing to tweak the game.

If I understand you so far. At 27:27. shouldn't that have been a staff?
That's correct, there is a clarification bout this already in the Klingon subtitles.

27:28 uses the wrong dice to evaluate the first action on the player board. Should have been the locked dice - I.e a 3
Good catch, thanks for pointing that out. I've added a note to the Klingon subtitles.

Unfortunately, it's been too long since I played this game to remember the rules enough to answer your question. Sorry about that!
on 27:18 , aren't you supposed to get a staff? not a weapon?
Yeah, I have a correction in the Klingon subtitles to explain this mistake.
16:55 you refer to the red player as the "blue player"
Please, do tutorial for Endless Winter !
I've been curious about that one, but up to this point don't have a relationship with that publisher.
@@JonGetsGames I will send them a message!

I'm sorry for being unclear, you are indeed able to discard the newly acquired one as well.

Great job Jon for a great game I guess !...
great playtrouth as usual - unfortunately the buildings weren't used as much as the game has the potential to offer

ruclips.net/video/vGczFMBTTdg/видео.html The crystal that's on the Raven hasn't actually been used yet, so you should have 2 crystals available.
