I'm not sure if it's a Eurpean plug thing, but here in the state, Ours come with a long cord that plugs into the outlet and transformer, and I find it easy to just put the transformer on a chair or on the floor, and never once has my wire frayed.
That problem is relatively easy to fix if you use the fatter cable to connect to the wall and leave about 3 coils of the thinner one on you will never have a problem with the fraying of the end. It will never have any force exerted on the end only the cable which can take that force
hi joe im a big fan and fellow mobile sound and light specialist, if i could give some advice when you wrap your cable around the clips try leaving about and inch wide loop at the top to prevent cable strain at the point which the cable meets the transformer it will last much longer
The repair is not bad, although there is a very aesthetic fall, the perforations improve the perforation of the tendon of the loader and passing the wire through this one. In my channel I have a similar video, in case you want to have a look
After forking out all that money you are still wrapping the cable the wrong way. The cable from the transformer has to have at least an inch of it sitting vertically before you then wrap it around the tabs. i'm on my third Magsafe. 100% positive apple have this built in failure to keep revenue to the company. After years of people having the same issue and many, many third party 'gizmos' they still haven't altered the original design!!!
Weird, makes sense but I've had my old 13" out of warranty for 2 years and they still give me chargers. I normally go "yeah, it burned a hole through my bed" (it did one time!) and they give me a new one to keep me quiet. LOL!
I actually bought one of these at DJ Expo in Atlantic City last year, where I got to speak with one of the company's founders. He told me the interesting story of how the company was actually conceived- it was an idea from a college student after his MagSafe adapter died in the middle of working on an important assignment. I've been meaning to put it on my brick, but I'm waiting until my current charger totally dies so I can put the fray fix on a totally new adapter. In reality, Apple has redesigned the MagSafe spec once already, and has quite a few iterations of the MagSafe bricks now. By this time, you would think that Apple would have simply fixed the obvious problems that almost all of these MagSafe chargers experience. With a computer that cost me over $2000, I shouldn't have to spend more money to protect my power adapter, or an additional $90 to replace it right after my warranty expires. I agree with what you said as well- cool concept, but it could have been executed much better. I shouldn't have to soak my power adapter in lubricant to apply this silicone sleeve. Maybe a snap-on piece of plastic with some silicon parts would work better? I'm no designer, but it definitely wouldn't be too difficult to come up with a more elegant solution to this problem (which wouldn't be a problem at all if Apple fixed it).
+Aliyah Bee Sorry for the delay, it's not often that I check YT notifications on this channel. Having used the fray fix for a while now, I can tell you that I have some mixed opinions on it. It definitely provides some extra support to the magsafe connector, but it's not nearly as much as you'd expect. The product is made of really thin silicone and can be a little annoying at times when it comes to putting the cord in a bag, as sometimes it will get stuck on something and be pulled a little bit. That being said, for $15 on Amazon, this definitely will increase the amount of time that your cord lasts. Prior to installing the Fray Fix, I had totally broken one power adapter, and had to buy a new one for $80 from Apple. Had I bought the Fray Fix, this would probably not have happened. Looking at my power adapter now, it definitely looks like it's holding up much better than my last one. Overall, even if it protects your power adapter just a little bit, $15 is nothing to spend compared to $80 for a new power adapter. Also, if the Fray Fix's cost is too much for you, there are videos on RUclips that can help you thread a spring from a pen over the cord. I did this for my other Mac's power adapter and that has been holding up pretty good as well. This also works for the pesky lightning cords that always like to fray. I did this to my iPad's cord and it looks like new when the spring is removed.
Hello! I really find your video a huge help to save my apple chargers both mac and iphone. Can I possibly buy that Frayfix in Indonesia? Is it over the counter or need to order ? Thanks so much!
Cool Video you should make a video on how to make a video JLDJUK Style it would be cool to see the behind the scenes. Keep it up Joe !! -TechWiseHD Team
+Ian Scott after a year how is that heatshrink holding up. My wife has gone through 3 adapters and I'm just realizing I need to do something about it. This seems to be the best idea I've come across. Apologies for the time span ;)
The fact that this product even exists is proof that Apple chargers are a crap design. And people always say it's 'improper care' that wears out the cord. Nope. It's the lack of strain relief. And once the cord frays, guess what? The whole brick is a piece of junk and you have to buy a whole new one. It can't be repaired.
As a DJ I transport my Macbook almost everyday, thats why the power supply brakes. Even if you really take care of it. I got a Fray Fix and it has not broken anymore for 3 years now. really good product!
Why take the gaffer tape off the magsafe end, if you're just going to reapply it again anyway?
Because you got to pices of tape lol :P
Your vlog videos are probably the best things ever.

Hey Joe, Appreciate the great review of The Fray fix.

I'm on my 7th or 8th in 4 years between 3 Macbooks. I've had every one replaced for free.
***** The problem comes when your laptop goes out of Apple Care warranty. Which mine did only a few weeks before my charger broke!

Just use a spring from a pen ;)....Works quite fine

I've had my MacBook for over 2 years now and the cable is in perfect condition! I don't know how people break theirs so easily!
My original Macbook power adapter lasted for three years before this happened. Its just a case of when rather than if

Mine lasted for 6 years... i just bought a new one 3 weeks ago.
