IN MY TIME OF DYING / LED ZEPPELIN -JOHN BONHAM DRUM COVER
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 6 мар 2022
- In My Time Of Dying from June 7 1977 at Madison Square Garden. This is a great version, especially for Bonzo. He doesn't play some of the usual fills, but I really like his improvisations and fills on this version.
This is the last video I made with the borrowed Stainless Steel kit. I will be posting a full In Through The Outdoor album analysis video sometime in the coming months, which I recorded up at the barn with this kit!

For me this is Led Zeppelins greatest studio performance.
Drinks all around!!!🍻
To quote Keith Moon:
" It's time for a drinky poo !"
If you spare a moment to break that thunderous fill down that occurs at 6 minutes and 6 seconds it would make my day!!
I will try to do that soon!
Oh and er if you could just sort that fill out at 6 minutes I’d be very grateful 👍
@@rbrtcrowther just watch it in 0.25x LOL
One of the tougher songs to get down. Bonzo & his bass patterns are incredible. George has got it down! George must hear the little things Bonzo did that most people miss
ffs 'most people' don't miss anything. just because George is good at this doesn't mean he's above the rest of us. can't you just appreciate something without exalting it? this is where fanboy bullshit is born.
Spot on Richard……I was thinking the same way myself.
Great comment.
@@ochocabra1542 Agreed.
i miss papa Gino's 😢
2:32 Had to rewind a couple of times for that one. Mighty mighty.
Yeah, I love that fill ...different for that section
Stunning. Just amazing. Thank you. 30 years ago I was a 17 yo. Zep drummer. This is just wonderful. Always RP always JP always JB and JPJ. Always Ludwig.
Very Bonhamish. Got the thunderous sound he had. Lovely Ludwig chrome . Well done sir
Bonzo goes for a beer. George fills in. Some might say Bonzo is on fire tonight. Stupendously awesome
I’ve just listened to this through my 1970’s marantz stereo with Celestion ditton 25 speakers and holy shitballs….. that kit sounds amazing .. it’s almost obscene how good it sounds.. stainless rules… it’s so full bodied and fruity ….amazing
Wow, that’s great to hear! I don’t ever get to hear it back through my receiver and speakers, that would be nice!
@@BONHAMOLOGY you should just take a moment to listen through a good stereo. It’s like your in the room with the drums . I’m a bit biased but the stainless kit is incredible. It’s such a rounded sound . Incredibly powerful and yet it has a softness that’s still complete in its resonance. They sound great even when badly tuned but you’ve absolutely nailed it. I was wondering if your RUclips videos have had any positive effects on your day job. It must be a good advertising platform as professional drummer?
I’d also like to thank you for taking the time to reply to my comments. You have created one of the best drum channels RUclips. An actual professional drummer that takes the time to offer great content. I remember when Terry managed to get you in his basement… it was truly a momentous occasion and when you weren’t comfortable talking on camera. Just how far you and the front of zeppelin have come is a great inspiration. And where you might be a 98 out of a hundred and I’m a 7 .. I feel that if we met we’d have great conversation and perhaps learn a few things. Oh I’ve watched all the zeppelin footage and in absolutely convinced that mr bonham used exactly the same foot technique that you and I use. You can see his foot on the green sparkle kit and often on the visterlite kit. And he’s definitely doing the the imaginary ball under the foot technique. Once again thanks for the Toney and effort. It means a lot to us
So that’s how it’s done !!👏👏
DUDE!!!!! MONSTEROUS!!!!!
Thanks, Nick!
Great Job!!!!
I've been following you for a while, the best of all time, Led Zeppelin's drums.
I congratulate you because you play very well, bonham I would be grateful!
I'm learning drums when I grew up and I always played by ear but now with a teacher learning to read!
The best instrument!!!
Thank you very much!
Badass!!
That song is so fun to play. One of my favorites on Physical Graffiti. You nailed it, great job and those drums are so cool. They sound so THUNDEROUS.
Thanks
THE BEST I HAVE SEEN AND HEARD IN LAST YEARS! HONESTLY INCREDIBLE ΜΥ FRIEND GIORGO!THANK YOU FOR THIS!
Awesome!!!
I have the highest respect for your talent at spirit projecting John Bonham.
You're the best
King George on the rampage!
Thanks, T
Hear, hear!
I LOVE THE TRIPLET FILL AROUND 2:33
LOVE THE DRUMS, THEY SOUND GREAT!

GEORGE
No words to describe how much I’ve enjoyed this video!… thank you so much
Awesome Homez. Like we say in East La:
HA TODA MOTHERZ !!! Salud !!!!
⚡️@bonhamology Brilliant!⚡️
Once again FLAWLESS! George you are the man when it comes to laying down the Bonzo beats. Thank you ! Always enjoyable!!
Oh my god that kit sounds stunning…and that fill a 6.08 just takes the cake. Probably one of favourite bonham fills… so much grunt
Thanks, Robert. ...yeah ...that's a greasy one!
At 2:40 George smiles bc he knows he’s got it down ! Awesome
Magnificent!
Bro!🤯❤️😎🔥❤️😎
I have noticed that Remo Emporer coated 26" heads are nearly impossible to find right now.
*edit*...just got one at Milano's Music (A.family owned music store since 1948) in Mesa, AZ for $54.99.
When I order my Bonham sized Legacy kit in Thermo MG it will be from them.
goooorgeous kit!
God, I love the ways those steel drums sound!
Top notch!!
My favorite song ,this song is dynamic and explosive 🤯.ps I think you nailed it💪😎
Killer boot, killer sticksmanship by you sir, thx. All killer, no filler. You’re a true artiste, and respecter of the greats gone before ye. Been watching yer channel for days, I maybe never stick my head above ground again, it’s just too freaking awesome down here. Thx again.
😁🙏🏼 Thanks
Just awesome (as in inspiring awe) - hopefully you don't get sick of hearing that because it's all I post here. Great work doesn't cover it, outstanding work sir...those fills, damn.
Thanks so much!
I just had spine surgery and surgery on my left had Friday George. Can't wait to get back to playing. Your tuneing on these videos are perfect
Ah damn. Best wishes for a full recovery!
Way to lay it down Geo, great job as usual!!!
Extremely hard song across the board and extremely bad ass!!!!
Farkin' 'ell! That looked like a work-out. Love those alternate fills. A+ George.
there is a version out there, during the intro Jimmy's amp dies, bonzo carries on for a couple of seconds during that gig he is ON FIRE!!!!
If someone know the name of the gig ?

Great cover !
I cant say it enough about your snare sound, just awesome George
Thanks so much, Kevin
Oh....my.....God........amazing, awesome, thunderous, I can't find enough words to describe your brilliance!!!! George you smashed it out of the park Buddy! Folks, this is the closest you will get to being in the room with Bonzo!!!!!!
Thank you Martin
Fantastic, and such a good sound you have in the drums now, I hear that John plays what Jimmy plays, all the riffs and turns are translated from guitar to drums. I always knew that's what he did. I have also done it in my bands. Great George🤟🤟🤟
Thanks!
👍👍Inspiring as always! Thanks for sharing
Those drums of yours sound amazing!
Absolutely incredible, George! Bonham's live performances can be all over the place, timing wise, which you can recreate them almost effortlessly, excellent job btw, but, this one is truly next level. Very solid performance. Keep up the great work! You knocked this one out of the park 👍🏼🎼🥁
Thank you, Trent
@@BONHAMOLOGY You're very welcome!
it should be illegal to be this good. damn!
Outstanding as always. Great to hear.
That is my absolute favorite song played by Zepplin. Did you absolutely have got that bass drum dialed in perfectly
LED ZEPPELIN!
Wonderful job George as always
Outstanding playing!!!
Hello George ! J adore ce morceau et cette version live , super ta batterie, la façon de filmer avec 2 caméras et le son qui est top 👍
Merci, Michel!
So COOL! George.
Spectacular playing! Great version!😎
Once again, you nailed it. This is so good! Cheers!👍👍✌️🥁
Thanks, Dwayne
Really good job fella👍🏼
This is a higher truth!
Thank you, Derek! These tubs are inspiring to play. Do you have a vintage steel kit, or a Dunnett?
@@BONHAMOLOGY I started with a vintage steel kit and LOVED it! It was a 24/14/16/18 from the late 70's. I found the Dunnett reissue kit for around 2k, so I decided to pull the trigger for the sake of having the correct sizes, but it just ain't the same. There are no bearing edges like the vintage kit, and I think they fall more prone to the brittleness you mentioned. I still like them, but not as much as much as the vintage kit (which I sold to offset the Dunnett kit).
@@KickItLikeBonham yeah that's what I've heard from others as well. Terry Keating really like the sound of the reissue. I wonder if lunch at some point will make an anniversary issue. It'll be 50 years I think in 75 or 6.
Stainless? Beautiful kit!
Yes!
Powerful 🔥
Great sounding kit! You got it sounding very close to Bonham
Such a monstrous groove. Great as always!
Awesome George
ST GEORGE!!!!!
That was awesome!! I've been kicking around with the studio version lately. I tore my quad tendon in my right leg a few years ago and still never got back the stamina needed for the bass drum patterns in that song. I just attempt to play Bonham, you've got him down!!! Thanks for all the videos.
Sorry, hope you get the strength band control back in your leg. Thank you!
George....that was excellent. Bonham switches it up. Playful guitar and vocals as well. Must have been a good night overall, will have to check out this boot. I wanted to message you about something. How can I do that?
Thank you! I'm on Facebook, you can send a message there if you have an account.
@@BONHAMOLOGY ok thanks
Hell yea man that was kick ass amazing. Loved it.
I love every fill, but especially at 8:11- I’ve never heard bonham play anything like that
Damn, that was kick ass. Nice job
Fenomenale, Amazing Sound
My favorite song. But why do you think he went away from the studio beat?
I really don't know.
I would have loved to have been in the studio when Bonzo came up with this drum part. It's incredible how he follows Jimmy's guitar playing with his grooves. Supremely great job on this tour de force song George, & the kit sounds amazing! Even though this is the last video on this kit, I'll look forward to the ITTOD analysis video on it. Cheers! ✌️❤️🥁
you shook like you shook me
Bonzo would have loved this
que gran trabajo!!!!!
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🥁
Been meaning to ask George which zeppelin songs do you consider the most challenging to play. Either for technique, complexity, endurance etc? Thanks and another fantastic video as always!
I would say this is one, Achilles for endurance and technical skill, also Candy Store Rock , and Rock and Roll for the relentless beats. Sick Again is another tricky one. Four Sticks for the endurance and holding the damn sticks!
@FN LN Oh yeah, live is a whole other thing! Dazed is probably the most demanding...especially because of all the fast thrashing in the guitar solo.
@@BONHAMOLOGY exactly
@@BONHAMOLOGY That is a good list, but... what is the hardest song you've ever had to learn in your entire life, Led Zeppelin or otherwise?
@@BONHAMOLOGY I definitely agree with that list. Achilles is so long and so fast, that it's difficult for me to keep tempo.
Like that NY show from 77. Like their 75 version better
Snare and kick sound monstrous!!! Is that the LM-402?
Yes!
Triple kicks as well
Great job as always sir. Did Bonham tune his snare high or low for the 1975 Earls Court?
I think it was a bit on the tighter side....I would say medium tight.
Love your videos man, any chance of covering Love Having You Around?
Thanks. The Stevie Wonder tune?
@@BONHAMOLOGY yeaaaa man
Congrats mate. Very well done and natural.
Is it my impression or Jimmy f***s up a bit with the tempo and Bonzo restores the situation ??
Jimmy gets a little loose, yeah. 😬
I feel as though you did this one just for me, of course I presume too much but if you were to ask me which L Z song I would like you to play on the S. steel kit it would be this one. And of course you play it just like J.B., fantastic, thank you George.
😁 thanks, Trev
Hi George. Awesome job..as always. I am curious if you have any interest in selling that shell pack. Yes?
Are you using one overhead? What kind of mic? And how high is the ceiling in the room you're in?
I'm using 2 Beyerdynamic M 160's overhead. The ceiling is low, only about 8 foot
@@BONHAMOLOGY ooh, expensive. You sound great. Thanks for answering.
How does he get that kick drum to move?
He’s got a speed king fastened to it. And with a light tension on the spring you can get an obscene amount of power in to the head. I had a very old batter head on my kit and and my speed king went through it.
Could you redo this in your new place with the new kit?? :)
I just did , a couple weeks ago
This is awesome. I’d love to do the guitar over one of these bootleg versions with you. Are you open to doing Kashmir, OTHAFA or Sick Again from Vancouver March 19, 1975?
Hey Matt, if you search across my channel for drums only, you'll see many songs there, including an OTHAFA from 77, which is very similar to 75 style.
What's the record on the wall?
Awesome!
