This is a follow up comment for others wondering which video gives the best step by step instructions of how to make this repair. I just finished doing just as this man explains. He's the best!!! Follow how he says to do it and you will have an easy job of it. I will say one thing different and that is, take the time to remove the water hose. It is too tight to see what you are doing otherwise. I'm 76 and have had Fords going all the way back to a 57 T Bird and 65 Mustangs to work on. Oh, just a side note, when you put the hose back on, use two new 2" screw type clamps to replace the 'factory speed' clamps put on in the assembly line. I don't trust them once you remove those. In my case this repair was actually a 2007 Lincoln Mark LT truck, but they are really just a Ford F 150 inside. So if that is what you have just follow what this guy says and you will save a lot of money in labor. Yes, I am a subscriber after this job!

Thank you, thank you. I am a college student with hardly any income. A “friend” said her dad is a mechanic and that it would be an easy fix and would only charge $100.00 labor. Well I saw your video and my dad and I decided to do it ourselves. I would like suggest to those who are not experienced mechanics, when it comes to the tension pulley.i got under the motor and release the tension from the bottom and my dad udid the belt from the top. That tension pulley was a big snag for us. After we took off the alternator it only took us 20 minutes to put the new one on. We spent like 1 whole hour on trying to release the belt. My dad said it is called the week end warrior curse. Thanks again. I hope this helpful.

Wanted to say thank you for all your videos. Recently bought an F150 and have been watching your videos to learn about it, during a 1500 mile trip towing a car this weekend had the alternator die, and by pure luck rolled off the highway and into the parking lot of an auto parts store 2 minutes before they closed for the night and bought a new alternator. Pulled up your video before installing to get any tips grabbed a bungee from the truck to hold the belt in place like you did and in no time was back in the road (after having to remove my car from the trailer to jump the truck...) you do great work and I'm sure I'm not the only one you're helping!

THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO MAKE THIS VERY INFORMATIONAL VIDEO! THE TIP ON USING THE BUNGE CORD REALLY SAVED MY ARSE! (I used a rope) and releasing the tensioner from the top of the motor rather than below (as another video shows) really helped me as well! (I was working by myself and did not have an assistant to release the tension from below! Your video and another one on youtube REALLY made it possible for me to do the job! And I installed it in about an hour! All because of the kindness of you and others creating these videos! Again THANKS!

Good video and thank you for making it. Saved me from the salesman at the auto-store saying "You have to take off that radiator hose to get to the alternator". And good idea on the bungee-cord . It didn't keep the belt from slipping (I didn't pull it taut enough) but it did keep the belt routing in line making it easier to slide back on.

Was able to use this video to help change out my ladies 04 expedition alternator. The bungie cord to hold the belt was very helpful. I used a 1/2" socket with a bar from an old jack we had around to loosen the belt. Videos like this that help us computer geek play mechanic (and sweat alot...). The alternator I purchased was the "DB Electrical AFD0113 Alternator " from amazon. Cheaper and delivers the same volts you posted up above.

before anything thanks for your video's learned alot from them, now my question is I've been having issues with my electrical power, got it checked at oriellys an they said it was a bad alternator, and a bad starter, just about 1 month ago I had changed my alternator but I still went ahead a got a new one..took it back to get it checked an was told it had a bad regulator,it doesn't seem right to me that 2 alternators can be bad..can it be something else?? now for the story of my truck see if it helps to pin point the issue..about a week ago battery died out on me leaving work..got the truck jump started took the battery to charge few days later same problem, got it jump started an while driving home all electrical when out, rmp gas battery temperature mpr gauge down to zero, ac turned off could roll down windows or unlock trucks door, but the truck was still running, check charging system light came up an abs as well...as soon as I got home put my truck on park everything turned back on..turned it off and tried to turn it back on an nothing, so replaced that alternator put a new one on ranned good the hole day then while driving home lights started to dimm..when out side in the morning to start it an nothing...what else can it be? thanks ahead of time
