What do you guys think of Blue Nile? I created a buyers guide for Blue Nile to help my viewers- visit - www.diamondcityonline.com/tips-for-using-blueniles-website/
That just means she’s no glamour puss, which also means she’s not going to age well because staying thin and looking good isn’t high on her priority list. It’s the glamour puss that ages well and she’s gonna cost you! You get what you pay for
Platinum is worth the upgrade for three reasons: 1) Less maintenance (set and forget) 2) The metal is stronger which means it will hold on to the stones more effectively, this is important especially for pavé! 3) When gold scratches, metal is removed. When platinum scratches, metal is simply repositioned on the ring (you retain the metal.
Its certainly a great choice. I always say if there is room in the budget go platinum. That doesn't mean white gold is a bad choice., still beautiful and gets the job done. AT the end of the day, both will need a repolish from time to time.
Not to mention some people are allergic to gold and it would suck if you pay 2k for an engagement ring and find out she’s allergic to it. I heard you don’t get that with platinum
I really love the part where you describe the different types of girls and go through the rings. The double halo for better presentation is a brilliant idea!
I bought my diamond on-line. As long as you know what you're doing, it's fabulous! I got a 1.34 CT oval, G, VS2, VG, VG, VG for $5000. It appraised (GIA) for almost $10,000. Listen to this good advice!
One thing I like about Blue Nile (and others, such as James Allen, may do this too) is that you can view/print the GIA certificate for any stone, right on their website, without creating an account, or anything
Quick comment on the platinum band. I got talked out of it after talking to a jeweler and he seemed pretty convincing. Afterwards though I realized he probably just deals more in white gold and that’s why he pushed it. I can get a platinum band for only about 20% more than the white gold and it will always maintain its luster. People talk about the patina but I think something aging right along with the marriage it represents is a beautiful thing. I’m a platinum guy all the way.
I think platinum makes a lot of sense especially if the budget allows. Depending on the ring design, the price can double if the ring is a heavy metal design. Simple solitaires have a small premium. Gold looks just as good but as you said it will look the same 6 years down as the gold needs a ridip. Now in 10 years both gold and platinum will get scratched. If you repolish often then the benefit dimishes. Its nice to know it wont be needed if you don't.
I bought my girlfriend her ring from Jane Co and I got her lap grown as the. Rep recommended as I got a higher and bigger diamond in carat and size and more sparkle ✨️
After watching your video, I purchased a .90 cushion cut, g color, vs1, very good cut, faces up extremely close to a 1ct. I felt very safe purchasing this online because of their money back guarantee. I purchased this stone with setting for $2499. It is a very impressive ring. I do however plan to trade in for my 2ct dream ring in a couple years. In the meantime I have this gorgeous ring to wear. 🤣. Of course I haven’t told my husband my plans yet.
Hello Osiris, love your videos! Could you make one explaining lab grown vs earth grown, specifically pros and cons! I see lab grown are more affordable, but I have no idea in terms of how they hold value!
Would definitely like to see that too. I know you can get cheaper diamonds if they are lab grown. But I am worried as production increases and floods more the market those lab grown diamonds will be cheaper. So if I spent 10k on a lab grown, in 5 years it might only be sorth 8k and start depreciating essentially is a worry of mine. Also thinking they are more perfect so will cut and clarity still matter for lab grown? @That Guy Osiris
Hello and thanks for your comment. I prefer the one with the best diamond. Let me explain my answer. I see them as equals. They both have small nuances of pros/cons but they both consistently get me the best prices, quality & selection on the internet. SO I judge this in a case by case basis. I look at both sites and compare my findings. There are times I find a winner on either or. SO the week I find my favorite cut carat color combo on JA, then that's my fav at the moment. But the second BLUENILE shows me a better deal I wont hesitate the buy it. Hope that helps. I have guides to both on my website to help you narrow down your selections and compare your findings. Sometimes, one has a ring you like better and that's the deciding factor.
This is great for people who don't know anything about how to filter results to get something they really want and find the ones that are the best value. I bought a VVS2 1.2ct oval Very Good cut, no fluorescence, in a K color for $3,400. K wasn't my first choice, but the clarity and cut was the most important.
Thank you, this video helped guide me through the blue nile website. I'm going to propose to my girlfriend soon and did not want to go to Zales or Kay jewelers.
GREAT video. I’ve been going back and forth about whether to buy online and after going to a few jewelers and comparing prices I think it’s a no brainer. I do feel bad, the jeweler is saw was such a great guy, but pricing 1 Cr, SI, G color diamonds at over $9,000 when I can get a 1 ct, vvs1, f color on Blue Nile for $6,000 with all the guarantees. I can’t pass up Blue Nile. That’s just too much money.
Thank you and yes keep that money in your pocket. No reason to pay 3 thousand more to speak to a nice guy. Stay at home and have a no pressure sale buying online.
Super video and again great advice. I just bought a ring recently not online but from a store and was able to speak the language and know what I was talking about. I used online to make sure I wasn’t getting totally robbed and decided to pay a little more cause I’m in Ireland and wanted to buy local. Thanks for the advice it’s super advice.
Thank you One Inch Punch! Glad you enjoyed the video. That's smart too! Its tough going online for such a purchase, I hope to ease the pain. Sometimes there are time constraints and people have to buy local. As you stated, you paid more but with knowledge know you weren't completely ripped off. A premium price for convenience.
That Guy Osiris was also nice to be able to bring my mother along and include her in the day and another benefit is that I’m getting a long waitlist watch I’ve sought after for myself too because of the purchase. Blue nile and James Allen are a breath of fresh air. I got a nice balanced ring due mostly to your advice which herself is delighted with. Think I watched all your videos a must for any man before buying a ring online or not. Thanks again. Love the channel. Hope it gets big.
@@chavebomber That sounds like a win win. Mom bonding and new watch :) Super happy I was able to help! Thank you for your support. I will be expanding the channel to other hobbies I am into as well.
Just subbed!! Got my engagement ring online. Stone is worth $3740. Of course not GIA but certified. My husband's family and family friend was like ARE YOU NUTS??!! They are/were jewelers...so I really would love to get a cushion cut diamond, like a 1.5. The lowest I'll go is SI1. Usually unless I'm wrong, an SI1 the carbon is more on the outer rim so it can be covered. Awesome video. Usually us Jews go to a diamond district but there is nothing out here...ugh. Another question...how do I convince my husband that it's fine to buy online and that he will not get ripped off??? He trusts it more in person....
Thank you for the support. Show him my videos. A little education and buying online feels way more comfortable. Ultimately, you can sort through thousands of stones in minutes versus seeing 4 stones per store you visit that often dont have the perfect balance of clarity, color, table and depth percentages etc.
Thanks for subscribing. Warranty isnt as important as you think and shouldnt have to be purchased it should be standard included. Diamonds dont break and they are one of the hardest substances, only another diamond can scratch it. Companies that give a warranty on stones falling off only honor that if you return every year and religiously check and retighten. If something happens or if there is evidence of damage to ring they will not honor it due to possible user error. Blue nile gives free cleaning and inspectons and offers free lifetime warranty. See this link for info - goto.bluenile.com/BXzEB9.
hello and thanks for commenting. Custom setting are tricky as they need to be done locally usually. A local jeweller can help as most online stores dont offer that.
I am looking to get a new ring for my 50 th wedding anniversary in a couple of months. I am think of going to the LA jewelry district any advise on where to shop ? Thinking of Blue Nile also but husband is so Skeptable about buying online.Any advise is appreciated.
Blue Nile is a great company. I don’t have local recommendations. I suggest if he truly want to see it in person. She pricing in the stores then go to my link www.diamondcityonline.com/tips-for-using-blueniles-website/ This will give you a guide to ideal settings. Then compare diamonds. It’s a trusted company.
Great suggestion. I will do that in soon. If you are in the market to buy and need advice please feel free to email me at infodiamondcity@gmail.com or feel free to take a look at my deals of the week page.
Just found your channel and subscribe. Great videos. My husband and I just bought my engagement ring this weekend at Blue Nile in stores. I won't see it until my husband propose to me with it hopefully this year. Anyways, I love my ring I picked out but I wanted to make sure we picked the right diamond. I'll email you what I got so you can take a look. The lady that helped us was very nice and helpful. My ring (band) is the Channel Set Diamond Engagement Ring in Platinum (1/2 ct tw) for $2,390. My center diamond I chose was a round, ideal cut, H colored, VS2 clarity, 1.40 carat weight, no fluorescent, excellent polish, excellent symmetry for $9,752. Did we pick a good diamond? I orginally went in wanting a G colored or higher for 1.30 carats but decided to lower my color to a H so I can get a 1.40 carat instead. Was that a good choice or no? Thank you for your help.
Just replied to your email. You made the right choice and you will be very happy with the H color. Bigger is better lol. Thank you for supporting my work.
Hi, I have a question. I’m looking at a diamond from Blue Nile website: 1.56 carat, ideal cut, color H, clarity IF for $13.8k. I did refined my search with the same depth and tablet percentage as in your video. My question is the cut. I know the cut is king and I liked this diamond with ideal cut but I know they have Astor cut. Is it much of a difference? Is it better to maybe lower a different area but go for the Astro cut? I’m trying to stay within the same price for a diamond this size but I don’t want to cut conners where it matters. Thank you, loved your videos, super informative.
Glad my videos helped. I will say you don't need IF clarity but sometimes there are deals on those. Astor line has diamonds scientifically tested to assure perfect cuts but the premium is steep. So its situational. Depending on inventory and price difference.
BlueNile has great bands. I tend to tell clients that if you're looking for a traditional band, buy at the same place you got your engagement ring from. If its a specific style that only a few people carry then you are forced to buy at that retailer. Most people fall under the traditional band.
I stumbled across your video, because I’m researching an upgrade on my Blue Nile Diamond. I LOVE Blue Nile, you are so spot on, they have amazing customer service, it took me 4 try’s to accept what they sent me, and they didn’t complain, or hesitate one bit. Excellent company. Now I’m trading in my beautiful .67CT stone for one that is twice in value, can’t wait to find what I’m looking for. Mine is a round, D color, VVS2 with tons of white sparkle. Love this stone so much, but I’m looking at an oval upgrade. I still need sparkle, and GIA doesn’t grade the symmetry, any advice on that??
Your videos are so informative . Subscribed ! If we are looking at cushion cut , what depth , table and l/w ratio should we use in the parameters ? Please advise
Hello, I have some questions about buying diamonds? 1. I'm looking for a diamond size around princess shape, 3 carats, E color, Clarity VVS1 or VVS2. On Which Polish, Symmetry, Fluorescene, Depth %, Table %, L/W ration do I need in order standard size, color, price diamonds?
@@OsirisDiamonds your videos are pretty good! I would love to see some videos about different types of metals. I can't find a lot on RUclips that goes into depth about cobalt, tungsten and other metals. I probably don't even know what's used or what my options are
Hey, Eduardo thank you so much for viewing my video and enjoying it don't forget to like&subscribe!! I was going over my email and I could find your name. Email me back again with your name in it so I can get back to you ASAP!!!
@@OsirisDiamonds i appreciate you responding! I just resent the email yesterday using the email in this video's description. Hope to hear from you soon.
Something that I didn't like about the website is that when it comes to rind size, the biggest is 7.5, and my girlfriend is a 10, ant tip on that issue???
Im sorry to hear that. I think if you press the chat icon, have a chat with a representative. I am sure they do it, it maybe a custom price as the gold varies in cost so they dont want to place an inaccurate price.
@@natallycordova9969 they tend to have subpar cut quality and non GIA goods. There’s no such thing as a cheaper diamond just lower quality and make. Diamond prices are set from very high up and the variations and cut quality and certification is what gives a lower price point. There’s a reason why they have “” cheaper better price diamonds. It’s because they are of poor quality and inaccurately graded.
Thank you for videos like this one, you make the online buying process much less daunting. Do you have any experience and thoughts on With Clarity's credibility, customer service, and value?
Ali Meehan thank you! That’s what I’m trying to do, to help people feel more comfortable. Clarity is the new kid on the block. I have been doing research on them and a video and article is coming soon. As of now my two favs due to selection, credibility and value are Bluenile and James Allen.
Hi Osiris, you got some nice information here, but i think you missing something how you deal with many other things that are not specified on the GIA certificate, for example luster and light performance, for this last one you need an aset diamond tool. Excuse me if my english is not perfect.
Hi Anne, I dont know if there is a best place for that. The more common trend is pick a diamond, find the setting you love, and find a wedding band that compliments it. The main diamond is the hardest and most important part. Bridal sets come with specific designs you're forced with. Also, Buying a set doesn't typically provide a discount. So I wouldn't plan my purchase on what place has the best sets rather what place provides the best quality center diamond that you love. Then build your rings from there. Sorry not an awesome helpful answer :(
⚠️ warning ⚠️ They do not make it like a showroom sample. They outsource making the setting in somewhere in Asia. Super cheap quality I cannot believe we spent 50k for it. It looks like a toy. I
Hello. I just ordered a ring with princess cut diamond from blue nile and was wondering if they sell chipped diamond too? I was worried because the diamond I ordered was price marked down and from Stone aglo diamond check its fair price was much higher than what I really paid to Blue nile. It’s excellent symmetry and polish, f color, vs1.
Hi and thanks for the comment. They don't allow you to see or choose the diamond. Thats why its cheaper. Its also certified by a horrible company which means that its easily off two shades which makes its way cheaper. The difference in a 1 carat center stone with an H color si1 that's really a J color I1 is massive. I don't recommend sites like this.
Yuck, unless you only want diamonds for an engagement ring and want to spend the 2-3 month salary or whatever ads say these days don't use this website.
Yep, dont listen to the ads. Know what your significant other likes. I hope you are blessed to find your unicorn but most women want these silly stone. If thats the case, these websites save you money compared to brick and mortar stores. Simple as that. Damn you Debeers for your brilliant marketing. Screwed us all over but I aint breaking my ladies heart by buying her a toy ring when she has her heart set on a beautiful princess cut halo. You feel me Mr. Peanut?
Hi I love your videos! Honestly the most informative and thank you for helping with picking out the perfect diamond. I prefer the James Allen site. Now I cannot find info on oval diaminds. Would you be able to do a video on picking an oval diamond! A lot of the videos made are for round. I tried finding the link for oval on your site and I could not find it. I am looking for a 18k yellow gold ring. I'm Canadian and my budget is $10 thousand. The setting I found on James Allen costs essentially $1800 . So about $8 thousand Canadian left to spend on the diamond. Thank you for the help!
Thanks so much for the nice message. I appreciate the kind words. I will make a video like that very soon, in the meantime, email me at infodiamondcity@gmail.com- I will guide you.
Question if you find the time, appreciate your help in advance. I'm on bluenile looking to buy earrings. Would you say an "Astor Ideal" cut w J color on a .9 carat earring better or worse than a "very good" cut diamond with G color?
It depends on what diamond shape you are talking about. Assuming its not round since you only gave me very good or astor options. Earrings can go lower in color and typically are lower in color. Feel free to email me specifics infodiamondcity@gmail.com
@@OsirisDiamonds Yes they are princess cut. Sent you an email with the link to the earrings. Supposed to be picking them up tomorrow. Thanks in advance again for your time and any input is appreciated

@@OsirisDiamonds Thank you for your input! I appreciate it. I'm super excited for my ring. 😊
If ring is rose gold, is color K acceptable? I've read the colored gold will make the diamond look colored anyway
Is there any green emerald pink purple all in one diamond?
If there is, it will be a collectors item.
Do you have a video or article on Pear Diamonds and the depth etc for it?
This video is such a great tool . Thank you
How would you adjust your settings for Cushion shape? Especially depth and cut?
Thanks for the comment. Check out my blue nile tips, I have the cushion settings there - www.diamondcityonline.com/tips-for-using-blueniles-website/.
Where do you recommend looking for bands? Would you make a video on bands?
What about a cobalt chrome ring? It looks nice to compare
There are so many options these days which is great.
@@OsirisDiamonds your videos are pretty good! I would love to see some videos about different types of metals. I can't find a lot on RUclips that goes into depth about cobalt, tungsten and other metals. I probably don't even know what's used or what my options are
@@thebestpaintballer Great suggestion. I will be working on a video like that soon.
Very helpful information! Thank you so much!
You are very welcome!
Are “Stein Diamonds” a good seller??
I have no idea who they are.
Does Blue Nile provide a Certificate with their diamond purchase?
Looking for reasonable 1.50 carat diamond princess cut earrings please help sooo much to this diamond business!
Send me an email at infodiamondcity@gmail.com
Hello, for a radiant cut with a ratio of 1.45 there’s no ideal cut! Can you help me?
Thanks for your videos Osiris! I emailed you last week looking for some advice on a ring. Hope to hear from you soon.
Are Costco Dimond rings worth it?
I would strongly advise not buying at Cosco.
@@OsirisDiamonds why don’t you recommend buying a diamond ring there?
@@natallycordova9969 they tend to have subpar cut quality and non GIA goods. There’s no such thing as a cheaper diamond just lower quality and make. Diamond prices are set from very high up and the variations and cut quality and certification is what gives a lower price point. There’s a reason why they have “” cheaper better price diamonds. It’s because they are of poor quality and inaccurately graded.
Wait so it wasn't the vs1 you were going to mount.
That Guy Osiris thank you, I look forward to it!
Can you do a Blue Nile video about how to get a great deal on a three diamond 💎 engagement ring?
Great idea Marisol! Thank you
What about emerald cut?
Excellent review, thank you.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
Hi Osiris, you got some nice information here, but i think you missing something how you deal with many other things that are not specified on the GIA certificate, for example luster and light performance, for this last one you need an aset diamond tool.
Excuse me if my english is not perfect.
Just spent $4500 Macy's for a princess cut G color and I1 clarity 1ct and 14k. White gold ring ... Tall about rip off
I would return immediatly.
@@OsirisDiamonds done got a way better diamond from Blue Nile store in Garden City NY.
@@JohnDoe-wi7eb Awesome man congrats.
Hi Osiris!! Do you know where I can buy bridal sets?? Do you recommend IGI?
Hi Anne,
I dont know if there is a best place for that. Sorry not an awesome helpful answer :(
Oh and I forgot about the IGI question. For natural diamonds, Only Buy GIA or AGS. Only LAB diamonds for IGI.
Can you post the settings for the other cuts?
would love to see a video on oval or get your help via email for oval. Thank you!
Please!
⚠️ warning ⚠️
They do not make it like a showroom sample. They outsource making the setting in somewhere in Asia. Super cheap quality
I cannot believe we spent 50k for it. It looks like a toy. I
Is there an ACTUAL difference between buying a loose blue nile diamond or a Barmakian loose diamond for instance?
Hello, can we apply the same filters to lab grown ? Please respond
Thanks
Hi. Yes you can!
@@OsirisDiamonds you’re the 🐐 thanks !
which is the ideal deep and table diamond cushion ?
Blue Nile has a store very close to me.
Thats a nice advantage. You will have to pay taxes since they are located in your state. Still better priced than local which comes with tax anyway.
were would be a good place to buy accent diamonds .08 - .15 ? I would like to get around 40
VERY INFORMATIVE THANKYOU SOOO MUCH
You are so welcome.
Hi can you do a vid on brilliant earth?
Hi Grace, thanks for the comment. I tend to find them priced higher so I try not to shop with them.
Awesome tips and editing
omilu808 thanks so much
Can I purchase from Canada?
Absolutely yes.
Hi, may I ask if the diamond size is around 0.4-0.5, is ideal cut still necessary?
I think you should go up to a 1 carat, it is only 1-2k more and you get more for the cut.
Ever hear of Natalie Diamonds? Just purchased seems a lot cheaper (less expensive)
Only to find out it’s fake
@@jeffbishop8291 it ended up being a fake diamond?
That Guy Osiris yes
That Guy Osiris no color in this diamond! It was nice! FAKE! but nice.
its normal if they ask you to pay by an email link?
I saw all your videos but unfortunately you didn’t say about heart shape
Peanut?
Hi Osiris,
I now to get one just about 2-3 carats. Can you please help me to get one in good price and quality? Thank you.

Great video, thank you man
Thank you Zair! Glad I was able to help!
Hey great video. I was thinking on getting my girl a 1.21 carat princess diamond Astor ideal cut, J color VS1 clarity on a Monique lhuilier butterfly diamond engagement ring platinum and a riviera pavo diamond ring. What do you think?
