@@johnr7022 i dont think so. The 2006 still uses the old R1 (FZ1) engine design, 20 valves and old electronics. The R1 2007 was the first and only R1 screamer to introduce YCCT y YCCI, introduced better chasis and the 16 valve cylinder engine, and not to mention the 3 piston caliper There is no comparison to the old 2006, still the 2006 is a good bike, the 2007 is just way better.

@@chilledoutt10004s are the start of the nice looking R1s with the underseath exhaust, and the 2007 continued this history but including better brakes, better engine and smaller/updated frame.
But they are looking almost the same.
I have two, one 2007 and one 2008, both racing prepared. R1 2007/8 is one of the best superbike of all time! I have too one R6 2009, one Aprilia 2016 RSV4, one Ducati Streetfighter 1098 first serie all racing prepared and one stock Ducati 1299. R1 2007/8 is the bike! You must to have balls of steel to ride this bike near the limit! But is addictive like a hot wild sexy woman!

Nice 👍🏻 yoou like your bikes 🫶🏼 the 1 letdown was the stator collapse issue, could do a lot of damage to the engine if left unchanged, a swapout to an improved 1 sorts it

Pedant in me is quick to spot that they're not genuine akrapovic exhausts. It looks more like termis with akra stickers on it. The section from the muffler to the Y piece is meant to be a conical taper, in titanium rather than a square edge oval section. The 4C8 absolutely sucks in town, cooks your left thigh if it doesn't have a decat pipe and needs sweeping open roads or a track. A B Road bruiser it definitely is not! But when on song, it's a savage.

Only decent comment on here, sounds like you acrually know what you are talking about. They are Termis or reps of them, defo not Akras.
The only good thing the 4c8 has on its siblings is the weight to power ratio. I had a built 07 (about $25,000 built into it) that made 181 hp. My 15 r1, while being heavier, makes 184, but with less put into it. The 2cr chassis do inspire confidence where as you need to liven the suspension and put after market wheels to get the same feeling. I love my 07 but the 2cr is king.

Prime example. My favorite looking model R1. Did your friend ever tell you what quick shifter is on it? I use Annitori.
It's definitely not the best R1, but I found it to be the most enjoyable I've ridden/owned. You can't really compare it to the newer models as they are simply better in every way... Although, this one has that fun factor when it kinda feels like a 600cc until 8k RPM and then it feels like a totally different beast. From all the bikes i've owned, this is the one i miss the most for sure.
Have the R1 2015 with crossplane. It looks and sounds better, but crossplane throttle feeling and low RPM bogging really sucks.
I still need to ride a crossplane need to get one on the channel 👌
Seat of the pants veiwpoint ; the 04 to 06 the best - smooth refined engine - felt light weight ; wheelies very good ; turns nice ; refined
Worst - 07 08 - engine harsh , not much low end ; more punishing ride posi than prev -
These are Termignoni exhausts and not Akrapovic. Plus it should make around 165-170 at the wheel with this spec. Lovely of course - love the 2007-2008 RN19 R1 !

What quick shifter setup does it have to allow autoblip downshifts? Commander 5 won’t do it?

Mine came withh a quickjshifter & commander 5 , my 04 636 doesn't have a quickshifter & i can't tell a difference between them both , whats the quickshifter actually supposed to do ?
It absolutely won't have anywhere near 190bhp at the wheel in reality, probably closer to 170 on a very good day and a friendly Dyno.

@@MTstevesp oh I get that lad, which is why I didn't say anything about you in the comment, just the fact that it won't have 190bhp, not unless it's an ex BSB bike, which of course it isn't.
A good format when giving the specs of a bike is just give stock numbers from the manufacturer and then add "it's got this and that on it so it should be a bit more".
Also on walk arounds, start at the front, and work your way back to the tail, leaving the engine until last.
It helps the flow and give you more opportunities to add titbits of information etc.

What quickshifter is that? i have a iQSE and is not as smooth as that one, what are you using? and i understand correctly, you have Both directions? up and down?

@@MTstevesp Nice, i think that model was the first compatible with up and down quickshifters thanks to the Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle, now. what about the other question? what model of QS are you using?
If it has a QS on it why are you using the clutch to change gear ?

Look at the roads, narrow and full of vehicles passing by, how can one speed throughout.
im soryy i didnt please you, roads here are very narrow we have no motorways here and most roads are 30/20 mph with the occasional 40 mph road

Well he had an older R1 1998 as his first then he upgraded to this which is mint 👌 his older one was a bit clapped but did it’s job 😅

@@MTstevesp ..to me , 2004 to 2008 model R1 was, is and will always be the sexiest looking super sport bike, its a timeless design, I hate yamaha for changing this menacing look in the later models, a single sided swing arm and that 4 pipe underseat toce exhaust would have made it immortal !! 😪😪

I mean if it’s stock the that’s fine you can have aftermarket exhausts problem is people complain and report ur number plate then you get letter from DVS which is like inspection and then they will flag that up and tell you to change it back to stock

Why own a bike like that there it makes zero sense? You cant speed anywhere but everybody does on these and throwing it into 6th as fast as possible is not rhe way to ride them. They do close to 100mph in first gear. Good video and lovely bike but the wrong bike for that riding.
I totally understand but when we do go away to France etc then we can stretch it’s legs but unfortunately due to such a small island you can easily get caught just by the videos, easy to spread and go around over here. Plus it’s not his only bike 🤷♂️.
