Moving along on the Jeep Wrangler JK King of the Hammers build, its time to knock out a ton of projects. In this video we install a new double shear high steer arm, our new pinion guard and truss tie in to the Pro Series 14B truss. Figure out our link mount locations, as well as discuss how to use a link calculator and go over a few topics of suspension design of an offroad rig. Then we start planning out our steering box stretch and placement with the PSC big bore box with assist. Mockup of the new OHF Hysteria frame chop bumper looks like it will be a very high clearance, compact, yet strong bumper for the rig.

You have so much knowledge might as well open shop 👍🏽😂
do you think you might regret using such heavy axle assemblies, as opposed to drop out fab housing 9" based stuff?
Usually they only come out to be around 100-200lbs lighter. It’s a tough choice, but in the end I feel like these will be plenty strong and much easier/cheaper to find replacement parts. If anything, I would like to run a new lightweight brake setup but that might not be in the budget for this year.
@@JKGearandGadgets standard one ton type diffs are definitely cheaper in the long run (no $1200 gear sets, $4000 ARB lockers, etc, etc).
I always appreciate that you take the time to show the behind the scenes thought process of why you are going a certain direction.
I actually really like how your buying a ton of off the shelf parts. Some that are JK specific, and some that are just builder parts, but all parts right off the shelf that anybody can buy. Your not fabricating absolutely everything. Obviously you’ll have some areas where you have to. But your doing a lot of things with off the shelf parts and that’s super cool.
off the shelf parts are worth it 99% of the time. if i can buy ANYTHING premade i go for it lol
FYI: because I'm a Nerd. ALT248 will give you ° as in 10°
Looking good. Can't wait to see it start up.
Looking good. Great job!
I love how I think I know about this stuff, then I watch your videos and realize I’m just the dumbest boy in all the land 😂
Why can’t I have a friend like you to help me with a 5.7 hemi swap into my jk 🥲 any takers hahaha
It’s coming together nicely 👍🏻
I understand the lay out for the four link but is a three link the same layout without the forth bar?
Pretty much, the trackbar will keep the axle side to side instead of the triangulated uppers doing that job. In our case; the 3 link upper is a little triangulated, so very similar to a triangulated 4 link front with just 1 upper link missing.
I’ve found out over time that those 14b pinion guards just act like an anchor. Once they dig into a rock they are hung up, just something to keep in mind. Going to flat flanges on the axles seems to help as well, if you don’t have the gaurd and happen to get on the pinion I’ve seen it just roll the rig sideways on the flange
Ben I said it before. You are one lucky dude!! Cassie is one fine looking woman and she works on Jeeps as well. She’s the perfect woman.
Nice video. I know this video is about, but I got a set of Toyo open Country R/T Trail. They are great on and off road.
I saw on the powernation channel where they tested the drag on a crankshaft with the pistons and they used a Torque wrench 🔧 on it I'm betting that you could adapt a Torque wrench 🔧 to do the same thing.
Another incredible video!! Love this build series!! Keep it up!! 👍
You should do a YJ project build! They are cheap and kinda the forgotten jeep wrangler. It would be cool to see a YJ with Ls swap, Coils and on and on
It’s on my list for sure!
Curious if you think you'll have to notch the frame for the drag link with the high steer setup?
Most likely yeah, just waiting for the steering links to come in so we can find where to notch it
Going to be TUFF!!!!!🏁🏁
That geometry calculator is a very valuable tool. It very easy to follow as you explain what you were doing.
Nice work!
you should get one those Mr. cool self install AC units for your shop so easy to install
Currently have 2 mini splits. Just installed the 2nd a few weeks ago. It’s not bad! But on the real hot days its still pretty bad. Need to finish insulation on the ceiling
Will you have to notch your frame for the trackbar mount?
Probably, as well as for the drag link. We will see
