Speaking of noise, you should do a video on how you mitigate unwanted noise in a home studio situation because I feel that it’s so overlooked and not talked about enough
Sometimes there’s not much you can do without rewiring things or getting some power conditioners. I just had to move out of my home studio (from a divorce) into an old rental apartment and there is so much noise just in the electrical wiring. A lot of experimenting and extensions run from different outlets mitigated some of it
I don't have a home studio, however I use powered speakers on my PC. I had a ground loop even with an xlr audio interface. Which I returned. I got rid of it with a USB to toslink converter, which goes into the optical input of my DAC.
Thanks for the great demo, as always. However, the thing that really made me sit up and listen was the "mains hum noise problem". I've had this develop in my own home studio and I HAVEN'T moved, it just seems to have developed over time. I have swapped out computer power supplies, chnaged around the structure of what plugs in where (trying to make one path to earth) so I think you'd be surprised how many of us would welcome a video on if/how you solved the problem, and a general discussion on causes for this problem. It's enough to make me not want to play!
YES! I've suffered from this problem in my basement studio for years, and it's really been a source of frustration and, also, a de-motivator for me wanting to play more. I've tried all kinds of things, very similarly to what you have tried, with no luck. I tried isolation transformers, direct boxes, insulating my components, verifying single path to ground, ground lifts, etc. I've finally resigned myself to the idea that it must be external RF interference in the air. I've brought it under control somewhat by adding an ISP Decimator G-string pedal in my pedal board, which helps to a degree, and getting some noise removal plugins in my DAW. Specifically, I'm using Klevgrand's Brusfri plugin inserted on my guitar tracks in my DAW to filter out the noise component of the signal. This finally has me to a point where I can record with decent results...aside from my playing skill, that is! I would love to hear what others have done to overcome this issue. I'm sure it's a relatively common issue.
I got this. It’s incredibly good. Plug-in is very well designed and easy to use. Can produce a huge range of sounds and always sounds great. The clean tones are fantastic.
Great preview of this plugin, I have almost every Neural DSP plugin and this will probably replace the Archetype Wong for a lot of things I like to do clean. I’ve never tried the Stereo Input option on a plugin like this and I might have to try that with my Boss Dimension C, split into 2 inputs on my audio interface. Adding stereo effects to mono signal looks like the most fun. The blank canvas sounds awesome and Neural does a great job with effects. Still, I could definitely see disabling the time effects on this plugin and enabling just the time effects of the Cory Wong plugin or any of the Eventide plugin stuff I have. Can’t wait to get this signal into my DAW…
I love this plugin, it's made my Henson irrelevant now because I was only using it for cleans. My only qualm with the TK is that I have to crank the output knob to get it to match my Nolly and Plini tracks
I thought it would make my cory wong clean / dirty tones irrelevant for the same reason, but quad tracking with 2 tracks L/R panned 100 with cory wong, and then 2 tracks L/R panned around 85 with tone king sounds huge. I'd recommend messing with quad tracking
Going through all the new RUclips videos for this plug-in, had to watch the Rabea Massad one, going through some of the others then I saw Tom Quayle has a review, I had to watch that. Dude, the beautiful notes you can make are unreal. I have to get this plug-in now.
There is 4 really good methods i can think off straight of the bat....one..keep moving around the room until you are away from all the interference...this sounds a little bit strange but a lot of people do this....get a noise gate or boss have just come out with a noise suppressor pedal called the ns1x...there are also more expensive boxes by morley...he propably has one...or plugins like izotope rx cleans up your sound in editing
Well... at the end they did it! XD Not the same overlapping incarnation of an hi-gain amp! Seems to sounds very very good... and i think THIS is the territory where the nowdays modeling technology can show his real power (and quality of a brand!).
Tom, can you at some point into dealing with noise? (Once you deal with your current problem?) I'm also having same issues and it's driving me NUTS! Peace!
Random tom, but I'm stuck on that electricity sound during your playing. I have the same sound and it goes away when you turn away from the monitors. Ive always been curious as to why that is. Maybe you know?
Awesome demo! Wondering if you’ve used a laptop with a plug-in like this Live and what your experience of it was? Curious as it would seem like a great idea except for the reliability aspects of using a laptop I guess. With tones like this would be great to take it out of the house. Thanks for the video!!! 👍🏻
How are you going to get rid of the background noise? Would love to hear more about that. Have always had noise in my setup. Also, what is that ultrawide monitor? Looks really cool! I bet it is really nice for productivity? Great sounds and playing!
What about to tell Neural to build a unit like Quad Cortex, with at least 1 expression pedal build in, but with eventually all the goodie’s from Neural.
I have that noise with high gain and I don’t know how to fix it that’s why I gave up on amp sims. How does one fix this in our homes? Do we use some special filter of sorts?
To a large extent the algorithm is the same for each of the plugin's Neural do with changes between them but the core remains the same. The pedals are very similar for example the delay seems the same of each plugin as does the recent chorus. The drives of this seem akin to the ones on the Cory Wong plugin. I feel Neural could do one unified plugin with all this built into one plugin but this will never happen as the release of new plugin's make them money. As in another comment I made this doesn't take away from the great sound but I do wonder how different these plugin's really are under the hood.
can you please go to the bottom and show the sound settings, im using presonas audio interface and I cant hear anything, too much feedback noise, and the actual guitar sound is very low.
Honnestly... compared to any Neural DSP plugins, it sounds like plastic toys. Closer to Bias FX2 (although I personnaly prefered the later) in terms of what you can do (LOT of sims, effects...), but in the end, tone just cannot compare to Neural DSP. Anyway, try them all!
I just recently purchased Amplitube 5 Max about a month ago (I've been using Amplitube 3 since around 2010....skipped version 4 altogether)....and I think it's quite good and was totally worth the upgrade purchase....I've heard comparisons between the SLO versions of Neural and Amp 5.....and on the videos it's a huge difference...night and day....but....I downloaded the demo.....and...although there are differences (that can probably be EQ'd and mostly matched)....it wasn't the night and day from the videos... I WILL give the edge to the Neural on that model.... AND, after using this Tone King plugin's demo....I'm going to purchase it... Keep in mind that you have a LOT more options with Amplitube 5 Max....amp cabs, pedals, rack effects, etc etc etc.... that, I suppose, can be good OR bad.....for various reasons I'm sure you can figure out..... I don't think you can go wrong with either one.....and remember....you're not stuck with just one or the other....you could get both! ;-) I've been trying out some of Neural's other models as well....they've all been good...though, I think with some of them, there's a bit of overlap...where you don't need every single one.....The SLO is really good, The Fortin Cali is really good, too.....The Gojira is really good and really heavy.... I haven't tried all of them...but....they really do make a good product.
PLEASE do a video on noise as per Thomas suggested!! its the mystery of my damn life time! noise w single coils ... terrible ... cant ever sustain a note or a chord
All the videos I've seen that say the TK has beautiful clean sounds never show a dry clean tone. Even the cleanest seem to be ice picky, complete high end with loads of reverb, delay and compression. Normal players never use these gimmick kinds of sounds. When the player strums with any authority overdrive kicks in. This is not a clean sound. Is there anyone out there who has gotten a nice full range clean strat tome on the bridge pickup without the mask of ethereal delays, compression and reverb? Also, has anyone mastered the recording level issue with turning down the input level for clean sounds?
How is your axe interfaced? For me I have to run through my pedalboard everything off into interface because it provides a great ground for the computer and everything. Silent that way.
vintage tones...so lets put loads of delay and reverb on it and shred...im not having a pop its literally everyone reviewing this....having hot a good idea whether its even close to getting those old school vibes
Ive had problems with noise in all my Neural DSP plugins so its just your rig that is the problem. Maybe its needs a super computer to be noiseless or its a software problem Also you cant get the true Chime in any of their plugins, unfortunatly… But its an ok substitute for the real thing ,to be honest…

I SO AGREE OH MY GOD

The most musical clean tones I have ever heard of of a plugin.
Skills sold separately
I've been hoping they would start recreating classic vintage and vintage-sounding amps. Looking forward to what the future brings.
I got this. It’s incredibly good. Plug-in is very well designed and easy to use. Can produce a huge range of sounds and always sounds great. The clean tones are fantastic.
I'm considering buying this plugin. How are you liking it lately?
@@matthewmp111 Still love it. Only guitar amp plug-in I use. One of the best music software purchases I’ve made.
Tone King is one of their best offerings to date, up there with the SLO. Will certainly get it.
Finally they made a worthwhile plugin. Archetype Cory Wong was close, but not quite there, this one is perfect.
Tom whatever you take, it's always sounds perfect :)
You don't have idea how much we like ,,that noise" Tom! Every noise that you make/have it is a masterpiece. 🙏🤘😉

I just bought this within the black-friday-sale and it really suits my bare-knuckle-equipped Warmoth-caster.
I love this plugin, it's made my Henson irrelevant now because I was only using it for cleans. My only qualm with the TK is that I have to crank the output knob to get it to match my Nolly and Plini tracks

Love the plugin, buying. BUT PLEASE do a video on dealing with noise! Seems we all need this!
I'd buy it just for the seafoam colour.
Well... at the end they did it! XD Not the same overlapping incarnation of an hi-gain amp! Seems to sounds very very good... and i think THIS is the territory where the nowdays modeling technology can show his real power (and quality of a brand!).
Great demo Tom! Your beautiful phrasing always takes me on a journey!
I really like this guy's playing so melodic
I love this plug in so much❤, I ended up buying the amp!!!
that tone at 4:50 reminds me of the Late Allan Holdsworth. Awesome video as always thanks for doing this brother.
All things in your hands sounds great, but Neural is always really good. Cheers from Brazil.
Blues guitarists rejoice! For $99 we can now own an amazing sounding $2,500 vintage-voiced amp! Can't wait to get this!
This plug-in sounds so vintage!
Tom you're a killer player. My God!!!!
thats great sound! long time wating a good simamp for clean an fusion tones.
Just staggeringly good playing. World class mate.
Do you get the same tone from your studio monitors as you recorded tone? Thanks.
Amazing video as usual Tom! Cheers
Fantastic demo. Nice work Tom 👍
Tone king with Tom "The King" of Legato
Tom, can you at some point into dealing with noise? (Once you deal with your current problem?) I'm also having same issues and it's driving me NUTS!
Peace!
I bought the real thing from Sweetwater! Fun indeed!
I'm pretty jealous.
Killer!
Sounds great, Tom!!
Love this Ibanez is this your new sig?
Those tones, and I hate how easy you make legato look haha.. great review
Beautiful demo!! I wonder how does it sound if a shiba drive is used with it.
I hope to see a Carr Rambler next
Random tom, but I'm stuck on that electricity sound during your playing. I have the same sound and it goes away when you turn away from the monitors. Ive always been curious as to why that is. Maybe you know?
I was toying between buying a TK imperial mk2 or a quad cortex. I think I might just buy the plugin instead.

Curious as it would seem like a great idea except for the reliability aspects of using a laptop I guess. With tones like this would be great to take it out of the house. Thanks for the video!!! 👍🏻
this is the first amp sim from Neural I really like. Any knows how this compares against Overloud Kemper style rigs?
How are you going to get rid of the background noise? Would love to hear more about that. Have always had noise in my setup.
Also, what is that ultrawide monitor? Looks really cool! I bet it is really nice for productivity?
Great sounds and playing!
Same, I've always had problems with noise with NDSP stuff. Weirdly, not so much with Bias FX2. 🤔
@@sasmitha8446 same! lots of noise with my Cory Wong plugin. you can't hear it in the mix, but it still gets annoying sometimes

Who is John Galt?
is it possible to get this for the quad cortex via the cloud?
How about amplitude 5?

Neural DSP be like " ok let's Shillorize RUclips" 😆
Neural always hammer the promotion.
ok, nice but how goes the sound in the computer, with an interface ?
Obviusly
Do you have any presets for sale for this?
