R/L stereo sound channels are horrible for this vid on headphones. They keep cutting left and right. Tested against other videos and other channels and other browsers. This problem is specific to this video
Made me wish I could just turn off stereo and have the sound as mono equal in my headphones. Surprised that this isn't an accessibility setting already available.
I really want to write for narrative heavy games and roleplaying games and I’m wondering how I can approach making a portfolio for myself that will help me stand out - also, would working as a staff writer and or narrative designer be okay even if via distance? (In Australia, Melbourne)
@@Raj-wf2wp Related to narrative development and game writing? If not, then I already do that kind of work (SEO, site content, article writing etc..) in my normal work. I'm really looking for opportunities to use my creative writing skills for games.
Since nobody replied to this: I'm not a professional by any means but it definitely depends on what your game is and how it flows. The two things I would recommend would be to take a page from the recommendations in the video and play with Twine--it definitely won't be the game you want to make but you can take your narrative points and translate into how things will relate to one another in the real game. If Twine doesn't fit (it might not!) you can look at other kinds of mindmapping tools. The second is more my opinion but keep it organized. I'm personally really fickle about keeping things in a system where I know exactly where to find stuff. There's a GDC talk by Chet Faliszek and Erik Wolpaw, who wrote Portal, about the different ways writers organize stuff. I personally like spreadsheets for this so I can assign scene IDs and filter for stuff like location and character but that could be overkill. Figure out what works for you. Again, not a professional but I think it's best to nail down exactly what your needs are and work from there.

I think this is the best place to ask, but how should I structure the script for a game I am also designing? Just the format of it, I mean

At least the comments and the like/dislike ration are up on this one...
@@ProxyDoug yeah and the like-dislike ratio is 12:1 because y'all aren't relevant
@@rinnest You are so relevant, you have to like your own comment.
@@ProxyDoug Unlike you with your self-hatred, I do like what I post. Coincidentally likes serve exactly that purpose.

Wow GDC, you deleted comments critical of diversity.

Crimea_River I would loved to hear Leni Riefenstahl's thoughts on cinema, if that tells you something.
How about Joseph Goebbels' thoughts on cinema?
For some, art is a passion. For others, it's a means to an end.
So as long as the people moderating the video think it isn't relevant, it's okay to censor people? And there's no way that could ever be abused?
