10 million subscribers for IGN...and PATHETIC views on AWESOME interviews like this. Please keep making these videos even though the views aren't there. It's important for the gaming community to document the history of our favorite games!
MetalJesusRocks Nice to see you here
So glad this guy and Chris Avallone brought Fallout: New Vegas into my life. :)
These interviews continue to be the best thing IGN does and they continue to get least views. Depressing. I hope you guys continue.
I'm surprised IGN Unfiltered is still a thing after this long. I thought they'd stop supporting it by now
I absolutely adore Josh. He’s straight and honest and an all around great giy
He has a honest heart you might say
How on earth does this awesome interview have so few views. Almost criminal.
Blame it on Fallout 4's existence.
Marketing most likely.
Unfiltered is the only thing worth watching on IGN.
Sawyer is an rpg dev legend as far as i'm concerned. I'm looking forward to his next project.
Joshua Sawyer: I refuse to call my mod a director's cut.
Many a True Nerd: FALLOUT NEW VEGAS SURVIVAL MODE JSAWYER DIRECTOR'S CUT
1:01:17 to 1:01:40 Josh talking that a First Person elders scrolls type of game could be made on the Pillars' world. interesting how some stuff is an idea in the oven for years and years.
This is so interesting. This guy’s a brilliant game designer.
Best thing IGN ever did.
as far as i am concerned, j.e. sawyer aka josh sawyer, IS new vegas. the director and figurehead to represent the blood, sweat, and tears that the New Vegas team poured into that masterpiece game. hats off to you, josh.
Wish they talked about Alpha Protocol more. I love that game.
SEGA remove the game from Steam :(
Avellone directed it really well
Loved the interview, hear about FO: NV was mind blowing, Thank you for making unfiltered Ryan.
"... whether it's exploring The Outer World...". Hmm.
Oh...an Elder Scrolls type game based on Pillars of Eternity, yes please.
He knew already. Avowed was in the planning. 1:03:00
Elder Scrolls like game....... what a screaming hint that we didn't notice until now :D
This guy is a genius when it comes to RPGs.
Fallout: New Vegas is my favorite Fallout and its because it’s the best RPG out of the Fallout games.
He is just a part of a far bigger picture. The team that worked on Fallout New Vegas did great job though. Many would even say better than what Bethesda manages to do with their games.
He's a narrative and systems designer, so I'd say he had a pretty big impact on the quality of say Fallout: New Vegas.
i like fallout 2 better but NV is surely the best of the new ones
Fallout New Vegas was a masterpiece to be honest
bethesda are the best at creating open worlds - and their world was the foundation obsidian could use to tell a great story...they are two sides of the same coin - no world, no story
This series just keeps getting better and better. Keep up the good work!
Thank you!
1:01:34 Wow, he really hinted to Avowed years before it was even teased.
Awesome interview as always Ryan. Damn I hate the month long wait between episodes though :P
I appreciate the kind words! And believe me, I love doing these, and I wish I could do them more often, but in order for that to happen it would literally have to be my full-time job, a la Danny O'Dwyer.
loved the video! Josh Sawyer amazing designer!
Great interview, I never found Little Buster in Freeside, definitely looking for him on my next playthrough. I love New Vegas :)
Chris Avallone is a nice sounding name
14:00 is when his work on Fallout begins. Before that is personal backstory
28:40 is when Fallout New Vegas is earnestly talked about
I love Josh! And pillars 😍
What a legend!
Josh is the best
We need this man to make another western style RPG, in the vein of New Vegas, with guns and first/third person, but also a deep RPG
You should check out Dying Light 2. The first one was good and they're expanding the narrative and RPG aspects in the second game. Chris Avellone is also the narrative designer and is co-writing the game. It's also a kind of post-apocalyptic style of game.
I hope space sci-fi will do. Check out Outer Worlds from Obsidian...
Well, he's probably working on The Outer Worlds.
Yesss!
Guru Josh?
*Saxophone intensifies*
Unfiltered is great but Ryan always gives the interviewee 2,3,4 options on how to answer the question its exhausting. Just let him answer!
Is Josh trying to crush the plastic bottle everytime he drinks from it?
YEEEEEEEEESSS thank you IGN!
Nice one IGN
I want this tactics game too, Josh! Get on it!
This has less then 10k views... thats a damn shame
1:01:34 hum... Avowed was already in development here? O.O
Thank you for making Fallout: New Vegas.
We need Icewind 3!
Is that guy Talking Thrones?
I thought the thumbnail is nick eh 3.
Eh hype
Can someone tell me why Unfiltered doesn't have it's own channel?Wouldn't that make it have more viewers and a more dedicated fanbase?I mean the podcast have their own channel why not unfiltered?
Not a huge fan of RPG's but love to hear the insight on how the industry works and the confirming of how shitty a publisher can be on developers and their ideas.
I ask from time to time. I will ask again. :-)
@@ryanmccaffrey932 they didn’t listen I’m guessing
I'm here from Mutants Not Allowed
Please give us a proper fallout style game Josh.. Now i need to shut up and finish Pillars 2, because a NV playthrough came at me outta nowhere when i seen Fallout get 86'd, ..i mean "76" recently....sooo yeah
This reminds me, where is wasteland 3?
Yes I know he didn’t make it or work on it but talking about fallout new Vegas got me thinking about wasteland .
Hey, its coming out now.
Is it just me or Josh Sawyer looks like Arcade Gannon?
And he wrote the character too
18:02 foreshadowing?
❤️
Wisconsin
Wow
Fallout new vegas é igual ao 3!
Third, I guess

Great interview as always Ryan! Thoroughly enjoying it.
Thanks for checking it out, and for the kind words!
First
is this guy actually a developer? it seems like he just handles business stuff
Yes he does write characters like Arcade
Google exists
Either nobody in this industry understands what role-playing and character actually mean or they're just cashing in until it's technically possible to create an RPG.
New Vegas is the dullest and worst performing game in the Fallout franchise, including FO76. If people didn't (rightly) hate Bethesda so vehemently, nobody would even mention NV.
Lol you sound horrible idiotic.. NV even with all the flaws you named it's by MAJORITY of FO fans the best in the series and definitely by far the best 3D FO so far.. Again it's the details, the fact they make your decisions feel much more in tuned with the world and more impactful to the player..
Fan boys know why NV is one of the best RPGs EVER made. Maybe Obsidian knows...but I think more studios need to look at NV critically and extract what made it so beloved. On the surface, it look like a failure, but as the cliche goes, don't judge a book by its cover. Its the humor, its the zany useless perks you can take, that then also have meaning in the game world, its the deep story of Rome vs Rand vs Republics and so much more. I really do miss it.
I'd say it's the focus on the roleplaying and worldbuilding that made it stand out. How it respects the player more and offers a greater sense of freedom. For example, the narrative and characters direct you along a certain path but if you want to then you can go directly to New Vegas and the story will still make sense.
12 years later it's widely regarded as a cult classic that overshadowed its parent game. these things just need time and fans that don't let their favorite games be forgotten.
Ryan is genetically perfect for his post as IGN brown noser.
I thought he asked great questions. It didnt sound like an interrogation by a generic soyboy inquisitor...which is a relief!!!
SerfIllustrated To each their own. We can't all agree.
I hear you, though im not familiar with the dude at all. I was just here for the guest and enjoyed the info.
ugaaa5 Welcome aboard..lol
Legend! Thank you for Pillars of Eternity🫡
