@@zachtaylor243 Do you know where his power to sense danger before it happens, or "spidey senses" is influenced from. Surprise, surprise: Spiders. Despite spiders having many eyes, most actually have poor vision and they also don't have ears. Since they can't hear sound traveling through the air, they rely on the super sensitive vibration sensing hairs and receptor on their legs to detect movement on surfaces. So, that means they know when something is approaching and what direction it's coming from way before it even gets to them. The fact that not everyone has a power to sense danger before it happens doesn't make the power itself underrated, nor does the level of knowledge that people have of what it can and can't do, or how powerful it is. Underrated means someone or something that isn't rated or valued highly enough and the general opinion about it is lower than it should be. In other words, this person or thing has more importance, value, significance, skill, power etc. than people recognize, and I guarantee if Marvel decided to strip Spider-Man of his spidey-sense, fans would be outraged because they recognize the importance and how significant this power is to the character. If they didn't care, then it would be appropriate to say spidey-senses are the most underrated out of all of his powers. Also, I'm pretty sure people are fully aware of how valuable this power is for spider-man to have since it obviously makes his job easier when it comes to protecting the neighborhood from danger and it gives him a pretty significant advantage over his foes. Definitely not an underrated power.

I love this scene so much, the fact that the spidey sense exists to alert Peter of danger, and when The Goblin shows up it warns him that there is something very, very dangerous coming.
That reminds me of what Tony said in Homecoming. And it makes Sense why he said to Peter that if Somebody died it was on him. But I know the Boat and May was never meant for.
Spider-Girl (Mayday Parker MC2) did it first during her first outings as a superhero back in the late 90s early 2000s. Not only could her Spider-Sense warn her of incoming danger, but it also let her be aware of pinpointing certain people around her, enemy or friendly. For example, she knew exactly which of her friends was nearby without seeing them based off her Spider-Sense. And of course, when Misery trapped her in a dream-like state, she knew something was not right because her Spider-Sense kept going off, throughout the entire issue! That's why I always preferred her Spider-Sense over Peter's, but this is the MCU so he gets to shine here.
I like the part when he says "these are not curses, they're gifts" as he looks at electro like he's the prime example of someone being granted talent after going through a life being nothing, and overall cause it hits hard in general for all villains there.

For real. This scene put me on edge. With Peter’s spider senses coming up you know something is wrong and the fact he is surrounded by Spider-Man’s greatest enemies only brings more tension. You don’t know who is triggering the senses until it is finally revealed that it was Norman Osborn releasing the Green Goblin.
Willem Dafoe is terrifying as the Green Goblin. I love how this film ditched the mask from SM 1 and allowed him to show the Goblin’s facial expressions. The Goblin isn’t just someone who emerges when Norman puts on that mask. It is half of Norman’s psyche and can emerge anytime it feels threatened. He’s one of the best villains in the MCU so far.
Agreed. Willem is an absolute top notch actor. He's on a different level from everyone else in this movie. Putting a mask on a face lik on that is a crime.
This was a pure horror movie moment. Things were going too well, and then suddenly something is obscenely wrong, but we don't know what until it's too late.
i absolutely love the subtlety in 0:19 when ock asks "peter?" and the ringing stop briefly when he asks, before continuing again. notifying peter that he wasnt the threat right from the get go, and could keep searching. that was cool
To Willem's benefit, his Goblin voice works even with the mask on. But when you combine that with his facial expressions, it really takes off, and lets you quickly identify whether it's Norman or Goblin coming through.
So many good lines just in this apartment sequence! "You tried to fix me... now I'm gonna fix you." "Peter Peter Peter. No good deed goes unpunished, you can thank me later!"

Willem Dafoe refused to come back unless he could perform his own stunts. That, along with Tom Holland's background in dance that helped him land the role of Spider-Man, makes their fights so much more brutal and tense. I. Love. It.

Its cool when you consider that this Peter never went up against something as genuenly EVIL as the Goblin. So his spider sense going completely ballistic for the first time like this really sells how big of a threat he is
It has gone this ballistic before. Actually, it has gone off with such strength it made Peter ill and resist the snap. That's why he knew he was dying and why he felt sick. Everyone else went without too much feeling, they were confused, but Peter resisted and hung on longer than anyone after the snap. His spider sense is why.
Honestly, Goblin is really the first outwardly evil villain we've had in the mcu. He's just unrepentant in every way. Think about it. Blonsky became the Abomination out of a sense of pride and defeat at the hands of the one thing he couldn't overcome. Ronan felt like he had to fight for his people. Even the more evil characters in the mcu had good aspects. Goblin is just... he's just bad all around.

Not to mention that Joker never had tech he owns, while Goblin has an arsenal of weapons on his behalf.

Really, it was always spider man's superior battle strategy, agility, spider sense, and speed that gave him the edge in 1v1s vs the Goblin. You can see that in the comics, but also in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man (2002). He easily holds up a rail car full of people, something that easily would have weighed several tons, and with one hand no less, while he dangled MJ off the edge of a bridge with his other hand.
Goblin always was since Tobey Maguires Spiderman 2002 and the comic books. The fact is the Goblin formula was a failed attempt to re-create the super soldier serum, but it's effects are far stronger matching the Goblins strength and everything to Spidermans. Easily the best scene in Spider Man history IMO.
I think that quote is interesting. Suggests imo that Goblin has noticed that he has a lot of stuff (from Iron Man's legacy) but somehow he isn't strong enough to have earned it himself. A commentary i think, on how Iron Man also had to overcome someone truly murderous, to develop to be where he was.
@@indigophanta8288 I interpreted it as he thinks peter is physically strong enough to have whatever he wants and could conquer the world (he probably doesn't know about all the other WAY stronger heroes in the MCU) but he has a "weak" mentality and isn't using his powers to conquer. Instead, he's using his power to serve and help others which is an absurd idea to Goblin.
What would've been the ultimate clapback is after Peter defeated Goblin and Norman comes back and says "Peter, what've I done?" He should've responded with "All that power. None of the responsibility for it."

Biggest thing about this scene is we've never seen a spider sense be this long or overwhelming. He's had time to walk around and his senses are in overload meaning that the danger is 1. Very powerful 2. Very near and 3. Most important it is imminent.
Some people are saying that this movie was overhyped and the worst, but I believe that it's easily one of the best out of all the Spider-Man movies, putting aside the fan service. Every person involved stepped up their game to elevate this masterpiece. It's a shame that Williem Dafoe never got to play the joker, although the green goblin is quite similar.
"Norman's on sabbatical, honey" this simple line is really underrated. No, it doesn't have a deep meaning. Just.... Listen to it. Idk man, my vocabulary is huge but I'm speechless when it comes to truly describing this dialogue.
Damn, you can see how the poor May was the real Goblin's target here. Goblin blamed her for Peter's "weakness" and "morality". He thinks that she ruined him.
Because she did. He was going to send everyone back until she had to tell Peter about her dumb morals to save them. And after all that Peter still sent everyone back. They die no matter what. They get sent back to exactly when they died so all the stuff they did literally was all for nothing.
@@gialess657 it was never established that curing them would actually save them from dying when they went back to their universe. They just said in the movie that it "might" and they didnt even have any basis for that.

Another interesting note here is that all the villains in the scene, except for Goblin himself, aren't reacting in a way that's explicitly hostile. Goblin simply empowers them with the notion that "these powers aren't curses, they're gifts" and in reaction to the ensuing conflict each of the villains just more or less leave. Sandman just leaves. Lizard wasn't even in the room and escapes from a truck downstairs. Electro disconnects himself from the device and recharges himself with Tony's arch reactor piece. He then only becomes hostile to the one person trying to prevent him from leaving. Doc Oc isn't affected at all by Goblin's speech, but leaves after failing to stop electro from escaping. Goblin, on the other hand, just goes for it. At the first sign of slightest hesitation to Peter's plan in the others, he just starts throwing massive hands. Goblin has one thing on his mind, and its just the inevitable destruction that results of his never-ending power fantasy. He body slams Peter like a ragdoll and kills Aunt May just to make him upset. Now THAT's a villain.
Everything about the scene was perfectly executed my anxiety was through the roof when his spidey senses were kicking in I had mixed feelings about what was about to happen!! Then when goblin came out it was a huge tone shift in the movie and then at 4:19 just turned into a straight horror film! Chills forever
The best part of this scene is that until Peter fires a web at Goblin, you have no idea who he got the sense from. When you think about it, it could’ve been anyone. I think this is one of the very first moments I’ve had in the movie theater where I was physically on the edge of my seat. This scene was so spectacularly done.
@@zonebro6205 there's a probability of Electro or Doc Ock trying to make Peter think they won't betray him. Ock faking being cured, Electro faking the device working midway through given Peter's naive mindset. Especially as a teenager. Hell Sandman just wants to go home and not care and snap. It could've been any of them
@@zonebro6205 I'm not OP, but I'll try to fill in. The scene starts with Peter's close-up and keeps a third-person POV while he's walking to the main room, trying to identify the threat. We are then shown a wide shot where most of the villains are visible. At that point none of them have shown evil intentions, and Doc Ock was already cured, so we might only rule him out if anything. The camera shifts focus from one villain to another several times, switching at equal times, so we still can't make a decision. The heartbeat becomes more frequent as Peter's sensation of anxiety grows. Only after closing his eyes he is able to detect the threat, and so he neutralizes Norman. We have an immediate confirmation as his face lights up with a terrifying grin, and he mentions "the sense" (nice of the screenwriters to use the terminology from the OG trilogy as in the later movies it's referred to as a "tingle").
@@KrivitskyM No, I get that much. What I mean what could have been the intentions of any of the villains deciding to kill Peter. I kinda guessed it was Green Goblin but I guess that's just me. Though thank you for trying to clear it up to me.

This scene, was easily the greatest highlight of this entire movie. It was the beginning of the tonal shift & the most epic fight scene and energy shift of power ever witnessed in cinematic history across the screen for Spidey fans all over the world. The goblin will forever be known as the goat of villains in the spider verse. This moment right here stands out is one of the greatest dialogues the goblin has ever said. Easily able to match the dialogue in the original Spider-Man Trilogy.
Man, NWH really displayed how powerful Peter’s Spider-sense is. First, when his soul left his body courtesy of Strange and this. I don’t think I’ve seen a much better portrayal of Spider-sense in any Spider-Man media.
@Rangeet Ch.Lahiri Not really. They just actually did their research and know how to push the limits of his spidey-sense. In the comics he let's it guide him towards danger in the city, it's also how he's able to swing around without looking where he shoots his webs. Not to mention after training with Shang-Chi, he develops his own martial art called Way of the Spider where he's virtually untouchable. All thanks to fully utilizing Spidey sense to its max. It's basically the equivalent of Ultra Instinct or Killua's Godspeed from HxH. What you see as "abnormally strong" we comic fans see as "an accurate depiction"
“You’re struggling to have everything you want, whilst the world tries to make you choose” “Gods don’t have to choose we take” “Strong enough to have it all, too weak to take it” Three Great Goblin lines one after the other! He knows he’s in a movie and needs to look badass!
The one of "Gods" was a little cringe, because in the MCU we already saw literal gods, and also very powerful beings. Those beings can make the Spidey villains looks like street level thugs instead of "gods".
How is nobody talking about the fact that the spidey senses only locked on to the main danger, we see him look at sandman and electro even asked why he was looking at him like that. Peter got a sense off all 3 but goblins was just the strongest. Amazing details.
Also why he got the tingle and walked out of the room he was in with goblin, cause there were multiple sources of the spidey sense so it threw him off and he had to close his eyes and concentrate to pick out goblin
Bro he also look at Doc Oct. He never really "only locked down on the main danger" but rather "locked down at the only danger" I believe. At that point Sandman have no really apparent reason to be hostile since he wants to go home. And Electro may have been some danger but he's really undecided until Goblin's reveal.

I still can’t stop thinking about how great this movie is. It’s seriously both a nostalgic dream, and truly a good traditional Spider-man story all in one. Having the villains be the versions from other universes is perfect simply bc they don’t have to spent soooo much time setting up the MCU versions, we get to see these actors again in these rolls, AND we get a great Sinister Six-type villain all in one. I seriously can’t sing my praises for this movie enough, it’s seriously everything i wanted and more.
I want Tobey back as older spiderman. On his own movie again. A lot more dark and real stakes. I dont mind Andrew or Tom. But GD Tobey will always be spidey to me.
This whole scene is not just a good fight scene, it's also an amazing Spiderman type fight scene. I grew up watching all the Spiderman movies and shows and this captured what they did so good at. Everything about this whole movie is just great, it really is an amazing Spiderman film.
Gonna be honest, I was worried, the last few times they stuck a bunch of villains in one Spider-man movie it felt over stuffed, but this movie blew my expectations out the window, I just want to erase seeing this movie out of my hear and watch it for the first time again
I kind of wish the villains had remained in the MCU after the conclusion of this movie. Would have been good to have the villains still in the background, where they could have been side characters in other Spider-Man movies, or even any other MCU movie
This scene is one of the best fight scenes in the entire MCU! Willem Dafoe showed off his great acting skills and facial expressions, and just playing a psychopath that likes to get hurt. Tom Holland also did an amazing job in this scene, he gave everything he had! No Way Home overall is just the best movie ever made, partly because of the jobs of Tom and Willem! Everyone in this movie did great!
What's best is they removed his Goblin mask and let him act with just his face. Not to mention, Goblin doesn't have any "human" qualities (Vulture became a criminal to support his family while Mysterio wanted fame and adoration). Goblin just wants to break a young kid's morals and strip him of his weakness (his humanity).
No, the best fight scene in the MCU was Captain America vs the winter soldier, it was pure awesomeness with very little cut scenes between the fists and kicks.
What I love is that green goblin is spider man's greatest nemesis no matter what time or place he's in. Peter's spidey sense never went off this intensely ever, not even for Thanos
I think part of the reason for that is thanos had no lethal intent when fighting Spider-Man and the others b4 he went to kill Tony dude wasn't using any more force than necessary to simply handle them (you not wrong ab GG though)
@@kendallhunte2055 I think it also has to do with his understanding of the situation. He was just kinda pulled into the whole Thanos affair, while he was basically a part of The Villains coming through from the start.
There was actually gonna be a scene where Andrew and To ey discussed their struggles against what their Green Goblins had not only done to them but affected their future. Remember Norman essentially was the catalyst for Tobeys struggles throughout the entire trilogy, and Andrew went Punisher mode after Harry took Gwen.
This is an amazing spidey-sense scene not only for the fact it sensed the change from regular Norman to the Goblin, but the realization that he is literally surrounded by villains that could cause so much trouble
I love how decisive Peter is here, I feel like homecoming Peter wouldn't have had the guts to call out Osborn and the Goblin probably would have continued to play him like a fiddle, but Peter knows not everyone is what they seem and the only thing he can truly always trust is his Spider Sense.
You worded it perfectly. I was thinking the same thing after watching the movies chronologically. Hollands Spider-Man is the youngest and is so gullible and believes in the adults, so he keeps getting tricked. The sense could not be ignored. Also a testament to the murderous intent emanating from GG.
The fact that the best/most dangerous villains come from the Sam Rami universe speaks volumes… also… Goblin handles Peter without even breaking a sweat and with such swagger proves that Toby’s Spider-Man would absolutely mop the floor with Garfield and Holland cause he’s a straight brawler

I think the power to sense danger before it happens is ridiculously underrated and it’s portrayed amazingly in this scene
How is it underrated? Please elaborate.
@@nissan_skyline Not many characters have it, especially in the way Spider Sense is portrayed. And out of all of Peter's powers I think his senses are the most underrated, obviously everyone knows about Spider Sense but not many know what it actually is and how strong it really is (very)
@@zachtaylor243 Do you know where his power to sense danger before it happens, or "spidey senses" is influenced from.

That reminds me of what Tony said in Homecoming. And it makes Sense why he said to Peter that if Somebody died it was on him. But I know the Boat and May was never meant for.
Goblin curses all 4 villains.
"That's some neat trick, that sense of yours" (1:05) is a really slick reference to the Raimi film when Maguire's Peter dodged his glider!
I like the part when he says "these are not curses, they're gifts" as he looks at electro like he's the prime example of someone being granted talent after going through a life being nothing, and overall cause it hits hard in general for all villains there.

"Gift" is referred to Otto's quote. And that's why you can see the camera switch to him saying "no" because it should be used for the good of mankind

Willem Dafoe is terrifying as the Green Goblin. I love how this film ditched the mask from SM 1 and allowed him to show the Goblin’s facial expressions.
Joker vibes? Yall DC fans are tools find any reason to make it about the Joker. Green Goblin is nothing like the Joker. Both are psychos but they are nothing alike.
@@yoshijb9428 It's pretty clear he and Joker are similar. Both are the polar opposites to their respective heroes, both are insane, tho for different reasons, and both have a similar goal, mostly to break their respective heroes. The only difference is that Joker is clinically insane while Goblin is a Mutant in the comics, while in the 2002 movie, he's the effect of the performance enhancers that isn't 100% perfected, hence his insanity. Not to mention that Joker never had tech he owns, while Goblin has an arsenal of weapons on his behalf.
Goblin gave me Joker vibes the whole movie The big difference is that the Joker wants Batman to abandon his moral code because he thinks everyone will abandon their moral code when the chips are down. He thinks Batman is corruptible just like everyone else. The Goblin, on the other hand, thinks Peter should abandon his moral code because he thinks people with great power like him and Peter can do whatever they want. @@dennisjohnsen187 He always was. Green goblin is one of the few villains spider man doesn't pull his punches on, because goblin can actually match spider man's strength pound for pound and then some.
So neither one is stronger than the other, that's how Goblin can beat Spiderman to a pulp, cause he never pulls his punches like Spiderman does.
It's not that goblin was stronger than in the raimiverse, its just Tobey Spiderman is more durable. You see how he's no worse for wear when he got a hit that sent him flying back and breaking through wood then proceeds to eat more punches like nothing.

7. Doctor Strange fight
Garfield Spider-man saving MJ scene too.
Strange vs tom ♥️
Can you give a deeper analysis? Like explaining why it could of been anyone?

Man, NWH really displayed how powerful Peter’s Spider-sense is. First, when his soul left his body courtesy of Strange and this. I don’t think I’ve seen a much better portrayal of Spider-sense in any Spider-Man media.
His spider senses still dodging Dr Strange was one of the best visuals ever lol
@Rangeet Ch.Lahiri Not really. They just actually did their research and know how to push the limits of his spidey-sense. In the comics he let's it guide him towards danger in the city, it's also how he's able to swing around without looking where he shoots his webs. Not to mention after training with Shang-Chi, he develops his own martial art called Way of the Spider where he's virtually untouchable. All thanks to fully utilizing Spidey sense to its max. It's basically the equivalent of Ultra Instinct or Killua's Godspeed from HxH.

Never occurred to me. Nice catch.
Not the strongest, but the most dangerous.
I'm sure both Electro & Sandman are stronger than Goblin, especially without his tech/gliders.
I think that it was the presence of evil from the Goblin that was activating the spider sense.
The way Goblin just laughs in his face is so badass. Willem Dafoe is THE MAN!!

What I love is that green goblin is spider man's greatest nemesis no matter what time or place he's in. Peter's spidey sense never went off this intensely ever, not even for Thanos

You worded it perfectly. I was thinking the same thing after watching the movies chronologically. Hollands Spider-Man is the youngest and is so gullible and believes in the adults, so he keeps getting tricked. The sense could not be ignored.
