Agree that the Cs have caused a lot of the problems we're seeing out of the Mavs, but when you leave a Sam Hauser wide open in the corner without even trying to cover him, that is on Luca and only Luca. I feel like we didn’t really learn anything new from Luka this series. We already knew he was one of the best offensive players in the league, one of the worst defensively, and had difficulties controlling his emotions with refs. This finals simply reenforced all of these points.

Let's overlook Luka's many injuries, the fact he had zero help from his team in game 1. Only slightly more help in game 2 and had to deal with Tony Brothers awful officiating. Awful officiating in game 3 where Boston couldn't get a foul called on themselves even when they tried (White yanking on Hardaway Jr's arm while staring at the ref and pointing out that he was fouling and they just let White keep yanking on his arm through Hardaway Jr shooting a 3. Probably wouldn't have mattered anyway. I don't think Hardaway Jr has scored a single point the entire finals). The fact that the Mavs aren't really built to defend a team like Boston, yet have a defensive rating against Boston in playoffs that would be #1 in the regular season. Thr fact Luka had more made 3s than the rest of his team combined through the first two games. I could just keep going. Kidd's boneheaded coaching mistakes, like calling a second timeout when the Mavs had cut a 21 point lead to only 3 points and had just got another stop on Boston and had all the momentum. That timeout allowed Boston to settle down. Luka has been fantastic all playoffs long and has made some legendarily, clutch shots throughout the playoffs to get here by beating the 1, 3, and 4 seeds in the West. NBA media refuses to give Luka his due props. He averaged almost a 34-point triple-double this year and finished 7th in steals. If nearly any other player had one game like that, we'd have to hear "is this the next Jordan?" for weeks while they make excuses for all the following weak performances. But with Luka, if he even gets mentioned it's "and Luka was Luka."

I feel like we didn’t really learn anything new from Luka this series. We already knew he was one of the best offensive players in the league, one of the worst defensively, and had difficulties controlling his emotions with refs. This finals simply reenforced all of these points.

Let's overlook Luka's many injuries, the fact he had zero help from his team in game 1. Only slightly more help in game 2 and had to deal with Tony Brothers awful officiating. Awful officiating in game 3 where Boston couldn't get a foul called on themselves even when they tried (White yanking on Hardaway Jr's arm while staring at the ref and pointing out that he was fouling and they just let White keep yanking on his arm through Hardaway Jr shooting a 3. Probably wouldn't have mattered anyway. I don't think Hardaway Jr has scored a single point the entire finals). The fact that the Mavs aren't really built to defend a team like Boston, yet have a defensive rating against Boston in playoffs that would be #1 in the regular season. Thr fact Luka had more made 3s than the rest of his team combined through the first two games. I could just keep going. Kidd's boneheaded coaching mistakes, like calling a second timeout when the Mavs had cut a 21 point lead to only 3 points and had just got another stop on Boston and had all the momentum. That timeout allowed Boston to settle down.
Luka has been fantastic all playoffs long and has made some legendarily, clutch shots throughout the playoffs to get here by beating the 1, 3, and 4 seeds in the West.
NBA media refuses to give Luka his due props. He averaged almost a 34-point triple-double this year and finished 7th in steals. If nearly any other player had one game like that, we'd have to hear "is this the next Jordan?" for weeks while they make excuses for all the following weak performances. But with Luka, if he even gets mentioned it's "and Luka was Luka."
