My grandfather who owned a Rolex and a Casio, once told me…..a $10,000 watch and $300 still tell the same time and the time goes by just as quick on either. That hits home now that I’m older with a family of my own.
Rob, you are an encyclopaedia of watches. Whenever I see a model I tend to like it turns out you already have a magnificent video of it. How cool is that? Thanks for this one, too, buddy :) Zs
Those Citizens wear so small because the dials are only 25mm diameter. The small dial tricks the eye into thinking the watch is smaller. In contrast, most Seikos have 28.5mm dials.
Just bought it - BN0230-04E, stainless steel with black dial / orange accents paired with black polyurethane strap. No doubt it's an amazing diver watch, in many respects I consider them as "G-Shocks for adult men" ))), because: - shock resistant, anti-magnetic and water-resistant up to Diver's 200m (ISO6425 compliance is rather a luxury for G-Shocks actually), not to mention convex mineral crystal and absolutely proprietery strap which leaves not so many options to change it in the future (as I already mentioned - it's 100% G-Shock style approach!) And for sure: - unmistakenly recognizable appearance - the best ever lume I have seen on the watches at all (kudos Citizen!) - great day and night legibility - good screwdown crown (I'd say - not so many other Citizen's divers have such smooth and tactile friendly crown operations at all!) - awesome comfort even on my skinny, 6.85 inches wrist (strap tail still quite managable and not so ridiculously long as I was afraid of!) The final verdict - absolutely must have, sturdy and reliable, heavy-duty diver with unique character for the summer season and short sleeves only, strongly reccomend it! P.S. Current retail in EU is very reasonable - somewhere around $300 BTW...
I have the old Ti-Zilla (big brother of the Orca Ti), had to get this one in blue--around Christmas at a deep discount. Very fun watch. Just about to step out...I think I'll wear it.
The overall look is quirky and fun, but I have a hard time getting past proprietary straps, just don't appeal to me. Most integrated straps/bracelets are a negative to me. Having said all of that, it is still a really cool watch! Love the knurled, inset crown. Shows how they can provide protection without having to resort to raised crown guards. Nice review!
I always liked these from when they were originally released but never got around to getting one. I just saw the blue dial on a bracelet on Amazon EU at a bargain £260 and couldn't resist.🙂
I feel you as a skinny wrister who loves big dive watches and can’t stand the strap tail waving around in the breeze. I just trim my silicone straps with a craft knife. This works for me because I don’t resell. Practice on some cheap Ali-E straps first. 😉
I absolutely love the orca. I really wish they had a smaller option, and I’m not someone who really ever complains about size. I just love it and am a skinny guy!
Any luck on finding replacement straps or aftermarket straps? I have the titanium version and I read in a forum that the newer straps don't fit too well on the older model, but I cannot confirm. Anyone have any luck?
If I can manage it, I will get this watch. About 20 years ago I saw and wanted one of the Titanium Ceredigion but I was really cutting back on personal expenditure so that I could buy a live in. Now I've got the house and home but the Titanium versions aren't made anymore. I will try to buy this as a treat to myself if by chance my luck will turn. ❤ Thank you Jesus.
Citizen is easily the best tool/dive watch at this price. They stick to reliable quartz that i prefer on these cheap watches over trash automatic that don't belong at this price point.
It doesn't matter how far upstream you go in price, Seiko and Citizen are still awesome!
I stopped there 😢😅 maybe I will get a Longines or Tudor as a single Swiss made for my wedding, but nothing else.

@@Saltlife2182I hope you got your grandfather’s Rolex.
@ I never did. My dad got it and sold it.
I had no idea "those raised things" were raised. I thought they were sunk in. I dig it. Interesting design.
Love how Citizen polished the case.
Yes, it creates that effect on the pictures.
I have one of the original titanium orcas. It still works and looks great after all these years. One of my fav watches.
I
Like
Big
Divers and I cannot lie
The design and execution is perfect on this watch….it’s become my fav watch to wear. It is a true diver you really do need the long strap.
I really admire Rob's ability to get access to all this beautiful watches he's presenting. Citizen is just one of them. Keep them coming mate! 🙂

I just got a bracelet version for that price which is significantly less than the rubber strap version on citizens website.
Is the extra strap tail really manageable or are you just saying that. I'm pretty interested in this watch with my 6.75 inch wrist

Wow look at that! Cool find man!

Dunno how this watch missed me, it is super-cool!
I have one, and it’s very fun! Titanium would be great.

That is FUN! To me the crystal looks a but like a porthole and you’re looking at an orca swimming by.
Yeah its a mineral on this. I have the special edition one. Love it or hate it, cant deny the looks it gets everywhere!
Gr8 review...thank you!😊
Ya that orange that citizen uses is great color
I wanted this watch so bad, until I saw all that extra watch band length. That would drive me crazy!!!!

.. ditto!
The REAL reason it wears smaller is that it has a 48ish lug to lug. This makes all the difference especially if you have small wrists.

those are orca clicks 👌🏻

Cool watch. But as a diver, it has confusing legibility and orientation. You want quick time acquisition when diving.

What’s the make of the calliper your using Thanks.
Anyone have an idea of the price on the original titanium orca? I picked up a blue on rubber for just over $120usd
Orca black is a
Good lookin' ticker..
In Germany you can get these for 260 USD including the 19% sales tax.
Excellent watch 👍👌
not my style, but at least not another boring diving watch
The best ugly watch of all time! My favorite in the box (box that I cannot close because it is too massive).
I bought mine (blue) on the ship for $330
Am I missing something? How can that be an ISO certified diver if it doesn't have all 60 minute indicators on the bezel?
I think you need the 15 minutes, and indicator on each 10 afterwords for the ISO certification

This watch isn't cheap quality wise, citizen are very well made
About time the diver genre was made fun of, this is something a micro brand should have done…
OMG the perfect clown watch! What a design disaster! My two year old wouldn't wear this!
I had a similar opinion about this watch but I bought one anyway. It's actually a great looking watch, not goofy looking at all.
Look low rent to me......awful.
I Know it is a Great Watch, BUT it looks like a TOY....!
