I absolutely loved this sitcom. I had the biggest crush on Mike Fox. It was absolutely all consuming at 10-12 years old 😂 I still have one on him too. Great actor, wonderful man ❤ Awesome show! Thanks for posting
Oh my gosh. I was just saying that the other day. Good wholesome TV. Brings back memories of such simpler times. I loved ALL those shows and I miss those days.
The skill and commitment the entire crew and cast provided on Family Ties reflected on the quality of the final product, seen and loved by millions around the globe!
the amount of work that went into one episode is baffling. so much to think of and do. great work by everyone. I just love this show and I'm really grateful that I grew up with it. (thanks for sharing this)
I was born in 75, I remember watching the show not long after it started. I tried never to miss an episode. Then later on I watched all the seasons on TV LAND ha. Now of course I own the box set. Amazing all the paper written preparation that went on back then, not ipads, laptops etc. No wonder Michael J. Fox wore himself out. You could also tell (just a little) when his Parkinsons would act up. Amazing he's still alive and kicking!! He's a survivor.
Fox didn't have Parkinsons then. He discovered symptoms in 1991 and then was officially diagnosed later on. It's amazing how well he covered it during Spin City. That speaks to his extraordinary talent.
60M people…. The kind of viewership never to seen again for weekly sitcoms. I remember the episode to this day and never forgotten Courtney Cox after that. I wanted them to be an item on screen so bad. The days of 3, 6, & 10. Three networks that provided all your TV viewing. Feels like so long ago…
Completely agree Me and my husband even gladly got rid of our prime cable nearly 15 years ago. Just have the basic cable with like 12 channels and even then we only watch like two channels and that's just for our local whether and crime reports.
I agree..everything on tv now is pretty much crap...tv in the 80's was the best. Good values tv...you could learn a lessons and laugh at the same time. you weren't afraid to have your children watch because there was no sex or violence. Not like tv today.
It’s wild watching Courtney Cox get nervous about a live audience knowing that in a couple of years she’d not only make a name for herself in Ace Ventura, but that she’d be a guest on Seinfeld and then go on to do one of the most successful shows on TV… Friends! Wild! 😛😁
Three years prior, she danced with Bruce Springsteen live in front of over 10,000 people for the Dancing in the Dark video. It was shot during a real concert.
I found about this show just now.. ! Shame on me , I know (I'm 25). But pls tell me, where can I watch fully ?(free or not) pirates websites wont work.. I'm in Germany
I remember seeing this originally when it aired. I always liked when Michael & Justine were talking about the one mind joke. Great setup & punchline. Good memories.
' Who's using it tonight? ' Justine is a textbook study on how to set up a pay off. She is masterful at the set up. I didn't realize originally how crucial she was to success of Alex / Michael's money shot lines. The build up and anticipation as she building blocks the tension with each added line in her comedy build up pyramid for Fox to topple with a single killer barb. It's an artform in and of itself to make this funny as just the set up. Bateman is so underrated and was teaching a masterclass.
I remember this season and particularly this six season one hour premiere episode. Being fourth season Tracy Pollan/ Ellen Reed loyalist there was a tension and resistance initially going in to this and accepting the Louren character as a romantic interest for Alex post Ellen. By episode's end, we were all in on Lauren. Courtney Cox at this point of time is interesting in her development as a comedic actor. She is naturally good at it and matches Fox extremely well. Many a guest star could get swallowed up in his charisma and unmatched comedic genius. Courtney held her own. What's fascinating now living in a post Friends /Scream/ Cougar Town era is seeing just how strong an accomplished comedic preformer she would become. If she's Barry Bonds early break out star with the Pirates here, she would become Barry Bonds with Giants all time all star MVP master of their craft thespian extraordiner. Then there is her work in the first Ace Ventura where she's able to deftly pull double duty as both be funny while okay the straight man, as it were, while also grounding the film which she does effortlessly. This was right before she was about to embark on her historic Friends run and become the living legend she is.
Canadian actor Michael J.Fox :-) He’s such a great guy & actor, also loved him in the “Back To The Future” movies. A lot of great actors have come out of Canada such as the old comedy TV Show called,”SCTV” with a ton of Canadian actors such as John Candy,Andrea Martin,Eugene Levy,Dave Thomas,Joe Flatherley,Etc.
OMG I remember watching that episode! Totally forgot about it tbh. So funny seeing it again now after Friends! haha. Loved that show! ps I couldn't remember the words to the theme song either! haha
I never thought of this before, but young Michael J. Fox is ALOT like a young Jason Bateman! Both men boyish forever. No wonder Justine seemed to feel comfortable!
I don't know much about the year 2000 and on but in that year in the eighties everyone believed whatever they saw on the TV, especially prime time which is about 8 PM. I was only allowed to watch on the weekends that year because I boarded during the week at a boarding school in Connecticut. Alex P. Keaton was probably the most unpredictable actor on TV shows for that time slot.
I want to remember the exact year this was in the eighties because I was doing homework and could watch this if I could have my homework done since it was at eight o'clock.
It's interesting trivia that Gary Goldberg's daughter Shauna, seen in this documentary, went on years later to become a writer and producer on "Friends" with Courtney Cox.

One of the best sitcoms of all-time! Enough said!
So true!

I’m still a huge Michael J. Fox fan and it surprised me to see him so nervous. He always came across so confident. Great actor and great man! 🥰
Ahhhhh I miss being young and life being good. These shows were my childhood! Cosby, Family Ties, Facts of Life…those were the days! Great shows!

Michael J Fox was awesome.
This was Produced by WTTW in Chicago and runs one hour. They have not rebroadcast it since the mid-90's.
Alex ended up treating Lauren like crap. Loved it when she threw the orange juice in his face when he cheated on her.
Carrie Heffernan that didn’t happen
He got yogurt dumped on him yes. But they ended on good terms. He went to her as soon as he kissed Marty. Better than most people who cheat.
At least he was honest about it to Lauren and wasn't trying to hide it.
Too bad they wrote that Alex cheated on Lauren. The other woman was boring. Alex and Lauren should have been endgame.
