I'm sooo with you on not losing that little cap for the pen thing. Props to you. You're not alone when saying that is definitely a feat!👊 I'm the same way. Only the real people would understand.👏 😂😎 And I, too love❤️ those little box containers for electronics or gift cards/whatever. It's those little, often dismissed things that count. 👍

    OMG girl!
I almost woke up the whole family laughing at your Oxo pop box mishap. As you were talking about them I was thinking how I had trouble with the seal and almost dumped a whole bag of sugar and then you showed the flour mishap and I felt redeemed. This video was so funny. You are definitely getting your mojo back and I’m happy for you🌸💕

We’re big fans of command hooks, turntables, and packing cubes too. We were on a flight where everyone’s bags were searched (unexpectedly) and we saw some real nightmares! Very stressed out travelers trying to rest if their junk in at the gate. Our bags were so organized it only took a few minutes and they were just as neat afterwards, thanks to packing cubes. Loved your use of the command hook for hair elastics - genius! I use that same one for umbrellas.

I didn’t get the 30% off my elfa this year - it was 20%, but because I was a pop awards person they gave me an additional $200 for spending $2K. I used that to buy the Cricut Joy and extras for labeling. I also purchased via Rakuten to get another 2% rebate. I don’t think the Container store elfa person was too happy that I wanted to order online myself versus her placing the order, but it was my money and if I could get my savings to 22% versus 20%, I’m taking it.
Umm, I love how you have the packing cubes layered in that suitcase. I never thought of that way.

DEFINITELY been using Command hooks the longest since my college days, but also really 💜💜💜 cabinet shelves which I’ve used in every apartment since college

  • @CarlaQuattlebaum
    @CarlaQuattlebaum Год назад +1

The Command Hooks CAN be used over and over again, but I've found that the adhesive strips DO have an expiration date (of sorts). I used an old adhesive strip to put up my rack for holding keys, and it let loose from the door on one end a few days later. Adhesive strip was a few years old -- maybe being in a hot storage unit helped render them less adherent. Just gotta make sure your adhesive strips are on the newer side and not yellowed looking. That's your hint that they MIGHT not be up to their usual quality.

    Another use of Command Hooks:
I'm a senior, living alone in an apartment. To make certain I not only can find my keys before going out, but more importantly to avoid FORGETTING my keys before going out, I put a Command hook about 3 inches above the doorknob.
When I come home, I put hang my keyring there, so I CAN'T go out again without seeing the keys and taking them with me.
If I were to give someone basic advice for organizing in the kitchen, I would direct them to find trays/bins for the fridge that are the length of the depth of their refrigerator. The biggest contributor to forgotten and rotted food is being out of sight. I no longer have that problem by using these deep-reaching trays/bins. When I pull it out, I end up seeing EVERYTHING contained in it, which reminds me what I have and what shape it's in. I've had far less things go bad since I started using them. Clear, translucent, opaque; it doesn't matter as much as being able to reach all the way to the back of the fridge.

Yep, I could clearly see during the first Oxo box mishap that you hadn't pushed the lid all the way down - the opposite corner was sitting a wee bit higher than the corner closer to you - so as soon as you started shaking it I knew what was going to happen, and I was not disappointed.
I did lol when I saw you extol the virtues of turntables after saying that spice drawer organizers were better because you kept turning them like a merry-go-round and not finding what you were looking for.

Agreed on Simple Human they have replaced so many things -- keep your receipts! And I have always taken all of the Elfa components we had invested from various apts and even before we sold our last house -- we just left the main rails up because I didn't feel like patching/painting-- is very cheap to replace and we've used the different drawers and things in so many different ways/configurations 👌🏼💗

I've been using the Pop up containers since they were first out. I've only had an issue with one or two of them getting a crack in the bottom. Which was from moving and not me dropping them. I've dropped them many times too! I highly recommend investing in them. They will last so long and still look great. They also don't scratch and I've never had a seal wear out, break, or crack. The seal wearing out was my biggest concern when I first bought them
I also love command strips, even if sometimes they take off the paint. They're incredibly convenient.

I use the lazy suzy turntable method for my spices. I bought them years ago at Bed Bath & Beyond on sale. It was a game changer for me. I use two of them. One is for all baking spices & the other one is for all cooking spices. I am going to miss BBB as they are all closing. I'm sad about that because that was my go-to local store. :( I am going to look into purchasing the cabinet shelves. Whatever the OXO issue was kept me from buying them when I redid my flour and other shelf stable pantry goods area. I kept reading horrible reviews that they redid the product and it was far less superior than the original ones. I don't know either if they fixed the issue, but I ended up going with the Rubbermaid Brilliance series instead. Had a pantry pest problem at one point so finding reliable containers was a must.

I love love love organizing but the things I buy need to be beautiful also. One of my favorite jars at the Container Store is the heavy glass Anchor Hocking acacia wood jar. They are beautiful they stack well and seal well and are easy to open. I probably have 15 or so. I also love to find vintage glass jars especially with cork lids. As far as command hooks I know they are usefull but not attractive at all. I’ve found really great items from Amazon including a wood and metal wall mounted hat holder. It keeps the brim of my hat intact and the round wood piece looks great on the wall. I enjoy your videos.

I was concerned about this as well, but after some research as long as they are bpa free, quality plastic (like oxo) I don’t fret. This is simply for room temp storage of dry goods, I’m not heating up the plastic or anything. And they have often been packaged in plastic (for sometimes months😳) before I purchase them, even at the bulk bin

I absolutely love my Elfa closet systems. I noticed that they haven’t had the good sale in a while, too. I have one more closet to do in my house and have been awaiting the next sale. I also love my Oxo containers. Nothing ever seems to go stale or rancid when stored in them. I’ll have to check out the simple human shower pole. Hi there! I don't think I've visited your channel before! Whenever we need a new shower rack thingy is always an issue to try to find one that doesn't break the bank but that ALSO isn't a piece of garbage 🗑 !
I the shower rack you recommended in my phone list so I remember! I put your RUclips name in there, as well, so I don't forget how I found it!
I guess I thought you said it was at the Container Store but it popped up on Amazon.
You have other cool ideas, too, so I'll plan to stick around awhile!
    Have a good one!

First I just want to say that your girl behind you was stealing the show, she’s grown so beautifully! Next I want to thank you for including the flour footage, I did lol but then I felt bad bc I’m sure it was not fun to clean up. But thank you, lol 😂

I recently bought a bamboo drawer organizer for spices. Can’t wait to get it organized. I think it will feel super fancy!!!

I love all these tips, and a good lazy susan! I have been using them over the years, but after this video, I'm on the hunt for stainless steel ones. And it's so good seeing you bouncing back to your old upbeat self. Often sending you heart-healing vibes, Kay.

The flour incident ...lol! Similar has happened to me. Get yourself a small, cordless Dyson hand vacuum. 🤓😘
