    Good vid man. Nice work on getting the sponsorships. You're going to love the Super Swampers (if that's what you're putting on from Interco), I had a set of Super Swamper NDs when I was running 31s on my Wrangler. They were noisy on the highway, but there was no stopping them off road.

      While I was editing I saw that, so I ran out to the garage, put it back on stands, took the wheels back off and dropped the axle down... It was close but all good, when I first saw it I had one of those certain body part puckering moments LOL! Thanks for checking it out.

    For anyone doing a lift on a KJ here's a list of what I did to mine. For the rear OME medium coils and 2 lower Isolators with adjustable Rancho shocks. For the front I added OME medium coils on adjustable Rancho shocks, JBA Strut Spacer Plate, 2 conduit clevis with JBA upper control arms.

    Great vid, question ,i did the rough country 3 inch on my liberty and bought brand new quick change front struts from Detroit axle and noticed with the spacer that mounts at bottom of the strut and Detroit axles beefy new struts the front sits up roughly 1/2 inch higher than the back, have you heard this happening before??? ,I'm thinkin once the springs settle it will drop down that 1/2 inch. also the lower control arm caster bolts were frozen solid on 1 side so i had to cut the bolt to remove them, then took some carbide end mills and bored the bolt wall enough to were i could bang it out, what a job that was.

    • @RockyXTV
      @RockyXTV  6 лет назад +1

      Completely normal. You should have seen mine when I lowered it down for the first time with the lift. The front end was almost 2 inches higher then the rear! One quick lap around the block and it came down an inch, and the rest of the way after a few days of driving. Thanks for watching!

  • @mrdaytrack6068

    Hi ...
    Quick question; if I may!
    I want to raise the suspension on my kj 3.7. I am only going to raise it two inches. This in reality drops the leg two inches away from the bump stop(s)! Should I be worried about this, as on the very odd occasion when I carry something very, very heavy, I have felt the bump stops touch (and do their obvoius work). If I raise the suspension; again, this two inches (and say I carry something very very heavy) ... will the suspension coil springs still collapse enough; and have still have enough movement, allowing the bump stops to touch; or (and this is my worry) ... will the coils of the coil springs collapse too far and crush into each other, and possibly breaking a spring ... !? Or is there enough '''reserve''' in the coil springs!?
    Thankyou.
    William (Hampshire UK (Jeep Lover!)) I enjoyed your post. Thank you.

    Just bought a 2005 Liberty and the backend looks like it has had a lift kit or just longer shocks. Wife does not like the look. Are the springs used for a lift kit like the one you did in the video the same length as OEM? Would someone try lifting by just using longer shocks? Would that even work? Have not crawled under to see what might have been done but just speculating. If I find the spacers under the springs then I have to replace the shocks after removing the spacer?

Most of the items have my own comments/descriptions so they will say used on Project Renegade. All I had to do in the form of modification was remove the steel sleeves that come in the shocks and install the ones from the factory Liberty shocks. Thanks for watching!

    i got 2005 diesel and have a loud noise while driving. Sounds like tire noise like so loud I would like ear plugs. Bilsteins,new wheel bearing, new upper control arm cause had cut old one off, new tie rods. Still there could lower arm be bent or something I am just missing? Had Hunter alignment done by guy who owned Cherokee figure he would know right? Loud with Hankook rtm tires

    • @RockyXTV
      @RockyXTV  6 лет назад

      I would think a Jeep guy that runs a shop would be able to tell you what's going on, but then again the suspension on a Liberty is different from a Cherokee. If the noise is coming from front and rear look up "tire cupping" of "chopped tires" this may help you out. If the noise is just from the rear you could look into your rear differential, they normally won't get that noisy, but you could be low or out of diff oil or have worn planetary's "spider gears" or a bad ring & pinion. Up front you could be looking at bad CV joints/axles, but again they normally don't get that noisy. I hope I was able to give you at least a starting point in finding your issue.

    Regarding the rear upper control arm. I've installed a 2.5" Skyjacker on my 04 Liberty. The rear -end clunks like an old wagon. Coming from rear upper control arm. I'm guessing the the new lift changed the angle enough that the factory rear upper control arm is no longer compatible? The truck blows out those bushings about every 2 months..

    • @RockyXTV

    I've got a question. I've seen a lot of your videos, but your camera went out while you were doing the front, so you only had the top view camera rolling. I ran into a problem installing the front spacers on the struts, when I put it back together, the bottom fork the strut goes into hits my cv axle. Did you have that problem? How did you get around it?

    • @RockyXTV

      I did not have this issue, not quite sure why you would... I do however strongly advise against using this type of lift in the front of a Liberty. This lift completely destroyed my front suspension in less that 10k miles! You can find out more if you check out my 10K mile update video.

    • @RockyXTV

      The most common lift for the Liberty KJ (2002-2007) is 2". Some companies have 2.5 and 3" that don't really require much modification, but they don't last long. These kits put a lot of stress on the factory front suspension causing it to fail as mine has. I can't even drive my KJ anymore as the front suspension has totally collapsed from the lift kit I installed. There are some quality lift kits out there, they are just really expensive. There are also some kits that go up to 6", these kits can cost just as much as the KJ's are worth themselves! Check some of these out, Jeepin' by Al is one of the best names you can get when it comes to Jeep Liberty KJ lift kits. jeepinbyal.com/liberty-2002-2007-kj/jba-suspension-systems-kj.html

    Do you have a part number for the FOX rear shocks? Thanks

    • @RockyXTV
      @RockyXTV  6 лет назад

      They changed/upgraded these shocks a little, and they are also for a non lifted Jeep Wrangler. I had to modify them for the Liberty, not hard to do at all. All you have to do is push out the mounting tabs and tubes on the ends of the new shock and push in the ones from your Liberty and they bolt right in. Rocky X TV will they work with 3-4” lift?

    • @RockyXTV
      @RockyXTV  6 лет назад

      They should be fine for a 3", I can't say for sure on a 4 though. There are a lot of other parts that need to be taken into account when lifting a Liberty over 3". Things like longer brake lines, shorter front axle shafts, new upper control arms, rear Y-Link extension and others. 3" is the max you can lift a Liberty without having to mess with all this extra stuff, unless your lift kit comes with all of it.

      Lifting a Liberty up high is an expensive task. Most of the lifts for the KJ are between 1.5-3 inches. You can get some pretty crazy lifts like an 8 inch kit from Jeepin' by Al, but you are in the 4-8K range for those. Thanks for watching!

      The ones used in this video would not, as they are 2" longer then stock, but you may be able to find some that are the correct length. What's the part numbers for the lift kit.

    • @RockyXTV
      @RockyXTV  5 лет назад

      I wouldn't recommend this kit now that I've had it for a while. After looking I can't find the exact kit, but I can tell you that it is from a seller on Ebay called blitz.auto. It's the same kit as this - www.ebay.com/itm/2002-2007-Liberty-KJ-Steel-Full-Lift-Kit-Front-2-5-Rear-1-5-inch/173441315483?fits=Year%3A2005%7CModel%3ALiberty%7CMake%3AJeep&hash=item2861e8729b:g:k1YAAOSwo5FbX6vF:rk:7:pf:0 but the kit I used was 2.5 for the front and rear. Again I do not recommend this kit or any spacer style like it.

    • @RockyXTV
      @RockyXTV  5 лет назад

      The rear part of the kit is still okay, the front has sagged back to nearly stock height and destroyed the rest of the front suspension. The ball joints are shot, the struts are gone, control arm bushings are sloppy. It's is just all over bad in the front with this kit, and that's with only about 10K on it with ALL new suspension parts.
