WOW--WEE! What an AWESOME cover of such an AWESOME Leroy Anderson composition! This recording was obviously produced YEARS ago (it's black-and-white); but it is an orchestral masterpiece, in itself! I love every orchestral miniature that Leroy Anderson ever composed. But this rendition is a STELLAR discovery! Liberace was not only a great "showman", but an outstanding virtuoso pianist!
Liberace was not only one of our greatest piano showmen, he was also just a terrific guy! If you could watch Liberace and not get a lift from his smile and enjoyable music you were too far gone. He didn't flaunt his preference, he just made everybody happy. We adored Liberace and miss him to this day.
A true giant in the world of talent . Unimaginably Great ! Some play classic , some play boogie woogie , some play pop and he could play it all . Bravo !
Life is short, don't criticise, just be greatful you can enjoy the wonderful music of one of the world's greatest showmen.Gay /straight,black or white, his music lifts my spirits ,thanks L.
Way back in the 'innocent' 50's, we used to watch his show and thoroughly enjoy it. Always remembered 'brother George' and 'Mom!' What a pianist and what a showman.
Genius extraordinaire Leroy Anderson's Blue Tango is arguably the greatest instrumental of all time. And to hear a virtuoso of the calibre of Wladziu "Lee" Liberace put a unique spin on it is the proverbial icing on the cake. Magnificent.
Some relatives of mine lived next door to his family on National Avenue in West Milwaukee. Walter became a Godfather to one of my relatives babies. My Mother and my Aunt used to go downtown Milwaukee to hear him play at the Red Room in the Plankinton Arcade. Did Schlitz make Milwaukee famous? No, I think it was Liberace! May he never be forgotten.
Love this classic number by Liberace. Also like the way the camera moves all around him. You don't see this done today with pianists. Thanks for a great video.
This always reminds me of my ice dancing. I passed my Silver dance test with this tango. And....there is not like Liberace and never will be. It used is both rollar and ice skating too and dance music.
Great arrangement with Liberace. I have heard this played a million times. i have played it myself. This is the best. Anyone know if this arrangement is available?? The critics be damned!!!!
Lively and amusing version of charming Leroy Anderson's composition. Liberace was, before nothing else, an unconcerned boy that played (with) the piano beautifully.
Mr. Piano as he's been heard termed, and I very well believe it. I don't think there will ever be another Liberace, not in my time. I went to see this man play his piano back in 1974. I took my best friend (mom), and we sat in the 4th roll center, There was a reason I took her, but i'll tell you right now there is nothing like being up front with Liberace and his grand piano via RUclips. Did Liberace ever attempt an Elvis Presley song..I'd be surprized if he didn't. Thx4 postin'
no matter if gay.he is in my mind the best pianist of all times.he seems to make a piano talk.if i want to listen to piano music i listen to liberace. les
@nickladey I just responded to another video up, that reading comments posted on a lot of the Liberace videos, it's amazing to me the amount of people that have no idea who this first-rate musician and entertainer was! It really is a crime that the media and medical examiners did what they did, and cast a shadow over the career of one of the most successful solo musicians the world has ever known.
@Organsk8er yes you are right not a lot of people know who he was he was the best piano player ive ever seen i can play but not in his leage jerry lee lewis was good but liberace was awsome thanks nick
@nickladey I agree, but most of all he was twice the man that my 93 year old Italian so called (father) is. I love Lee's heart and his acts of kindness. If I had my choice I would have picked THE ONE AND ONLY LIBERACE to call my DAD.
How did this Italian-american make a career playing pop music when there were a million russian &eastern european jews who were great communicative artists who did not.Couldn't they be original with show biz ideas.Good for him.Leroy Anderson.Big hits.Amazing how radio works!
He wasn't Italian-American. He was Polish-American. But this is a mistake easy to make, as people from the south side of Poland have this sexy Italian look to them. Back in 1977, I had it soooooooooo BAD for this Polish-American who looked like an Italian. As for Blue Tango, my favorite way of hearing it is in the style that Leroy Anderson played it, but I really like Liberace's version as well and don't believe he murdered the song..,
@@AJ1952Chats i dont even blame you haha But the way I understand it he was born in Wisconsin, but had a Polish mother and an Italian father (hence his name, Wladziu Valentino Liberace). Or am I wrong?
Liberace plays Blue Tango as if it were titled Red Hot Tango. Blue Tango should be played in a tender manner with almost a rueful and ghostly vibe. To me It is a tango of longing mixed with the memory of the joyful times with a partner long gone -hence the "blue" in the title.
@@randan34 You may dislike his interpretation. You may think he was tasteless. You may think he was a showoff, but calling him "semi talented" totally invalidates your view. He was insanely talented. And that is fact, not an opinion. Your assertions are opinions, not facts. Learn the difference.
I agree. Lee played this as if he'd been hopped-up on Red Bull Ultra. It really needed to be played closer to its classic, traditional tempo to bring out the tenderness and the romantic nature of the melody.
It would have been better if he had slowed it down just a bit. This version of it was too rushed, in my opinion. Tango music would be almost impossible to dance to at this particular tempo!
WOW--WEE!

He makes every song sound like it's being played even better than it was written to sound! What a gift he had!

greatest over all piano performer ever
Yes!
Total class. Bravo!
Look at him go! Fantastic!
One of the greatest show men of our time
Love Liberace's great piano-playing, his cheery attitude and showmanship. Thanks for posting this. :D
To see the joy in him when he plays makes me feel joyous too.
Way back in the 'innocent' 50's, we used to watch his show and thoroughly enjoy it. Always remembered 'brother George' and 'Mom!' What a pianist and what a showman.
Brings back memories as a toddler in the early 1950's. My mother was a fan, and I watched a long with her.
Loved this!
Excepțional !

FANTASTIC! What a joy. And he makes it look such fun, too.
I love this song. And that man is truly an amazing artist.
I keep watching it over and over. Thank you so much for uploading it. Best version EVER!!!!
This guy is awesome. I didn't even know what Liberace did, like, if he was a singer or actor or what, until today.
He is incredible.
I can tell you're young.
Liberace, a great musician.
With your wonderful channel , I’m able to watch his progress, what a marvelous experience. Thank you so much.
Stunning!!
He is a magic man
DELIGHTFUL! WHERE HAVE ALL THE SPLENDID MUSICIANS GO ....?

What a magnificent performance Liberace!
Liberace was one of the BEST pianists, Vladimir Horowitz notwithstanding..AND a fantastic entertainer to boot.
As an all-round pianist, he was better than Horowitz(or anyone else).
Agree 💯
Such a talented, fun loving, sweetheart of an entertainer.
Since I am enamored of this tune, no one can ruin it for me, as long as they are talented which Liberace was.
Love this classic number by Liberace. Also like the way the camera moves all around him. You don't see this done today with pianists. Thanks for a great video.
He was on a turntable. You can tell by the background. He used turntables on other shows, too.
This always reminds me of my ice dancing. I passed my Silver dance test with this tango. And....there is not like Liberace and never will be. It used is both rollar and ice skating too and dance music.
I miss him so much, even though I've never met him.
Where have all this type of music gone? I believe into Tokyo Myers. 2019.
I'm dreaming with this version!
I still don't know if I believe what I am seeing and hearing or not, can a man really play a piano like that??? What a genius my God!!!
Amazing!!!
He makes it all look so easy....
Roy clark
Great arrangement with Liberace. I have heard this played a million times. i have played it myself. This is the best. Anyone know if this arrangement is available?? The critics be damned!!!!
una magnifica interpretacion
A true showman.
❤ Beautiful 🤩.
what a stunning man!
Excelente pianista no seu tempo. aplausos.
LOVE this.
Lively and amusing version of charming Leroy Anderson's composition. Liberace was, before nothing else, an unconcerned boy that played (with) the piano beautifully.
Damn this guy was good.
Una muy bella y diferente forma de interpretar este tema. Me gusta.
Wonderful.
Merci, merci, superb

The man who made Alice from the Honeymooners long for television.
He plays every note
Iike a life is Jumping!
George owned a men's clothing store in Sacramento, California, and would appear on television commercials by saying, “Hello, this is brother George”!
Q clase d genio del piano de verdad insuperable como pianista
Bravo!!!
Devine!
Regardless of what you think of the bloke, theres no doubting he is an awesome piano player. I wish I was half as good as he was!
THIS is what REAL MUSIC should sound like!!
I like this
amazing entertainer
It may be schmaltzy, but on a remarkably high level. Liberace was not only a great showman but also a great pianist.
@markmarshall39 YOU ARE A GOOD PERSON AND VERY SMART!! CONGRATULATIONS FROM CHILE, SOUTH AMERICA.
no matter if gay.he is in my mind the best pianist of all times.he seems to make a piano talk.if i want to listen to piano music i listen to liberace.

VERY LIBERACE !
No one like Lee!!
Great !
Lee's brother George was the violinist at the far left of the screen.
@nickladey do you have a dictionary?
I wonder if Liberace ever shared a stage with Chico Marx. It would be something to see.
The Michelangelo of piano!

@laportecan thanks for the reply you are right the one and only yes he was a one off there will never be another
nick cox hull england
After seeing him in the film, Sincerely Yours in about 1955, I stopped playing the piano and just kept playing the harmonica.
I think George was one of the violinists, if I'm correct.
@sociopathpsych and yours?
@Organsk8er yes you are right not a lot of people know who he was he was the best piano player ive ever seen i can play but not in his leage jerry lee lewis was good but liberace was awsome
thanks nick
I left a pretty innocuous comment here a few days ago and it's now gone which prompts me to ask how come???
@nickladey I agree, but most of all he was twice the man that my 93 year old Italian
so called (father) is. I love Lee's heart and his acts of kindness. If I had my choice I would have picked THE ONE AND ONLY LIBERACE to call my DAD.
VERSATILE FINGERS... LIBERACE
🎉
@Klaaaan1 I hope your dad actually said "funny boys"...Such a cute way of putting it.
Argentina tango
@vajranurse why do you

Totally agree John. Liberace was a semi talented tasteless showoff

..very well stated.I love this tune ,but prefer the mellow version.....
I agree. Lee played this as if he'd been hopped-up on Red Bull Ultra. It really needed to be played closer to its classic, traditional tempo to bring out the tenderness and the romantic nature of the melody.
Theres room for both versions. I loved the original, orchestral version, too. I love seeing Liberace performing this as well.
My God ,is he human???
me no yikey.

he looks like a gay gene kelly.
NTTAWWT.
AWFUL ! ! IS HE A MUSICIAN, OR A CLOWN ? UNBEARABLE ! !
you are unbearable , unable to appreciate music and talent that no longer is displayed today .
