Plantar Fasciitis plagues many people, especially runners, but it doesn't have to. There are some simple things you can do to prevent and get rid of plantar fasciitis forever.
4 Secrets to treating Plantar Fasciitis naturally:
    1. Deep tissue work on the affected area
-You can get a professional massage or simply use a tennis ball, baseball, or rolling pin under the foot to deeply massage and stretch the tendon.
-The deep-tissue massage will help break up the scar tissue and relax the muscle.
-Do this massage 2-3 times per day for about 2-5 minutes.
    2. Stretching
-Find a set of stairs to lean against and deeply stretch the plantar tendon.
    3. Nutrition and Supplements
-Certain nutrients can help relax tendons:
    a. Magnesium: the #1 nutrient for healing plantar fasciitis
-Recommended Dosage: 500 mg/day (before bed)
    b. Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic Acid): helps to relax the muscle and heal the plantar tendon
    c. Fish Oil: great source of anti-inflammatory omega-3 fatty acids
    d. Vitamin C: helps with the absorption of Vitamin B5
-Consume an anti-inflammatory diet, like my Healing Foods Diet: draxe.com/healing-diet/
    4. Strengthening the muscles of the feet
-One of the main causes of plantar fasciitis is wearing the wrong type of shoes, which causes the muscles in the feet to weaken.
-Walking barefoot or wearing barefoot shoes (such as Vibrams) helps strengthen the tendons, calf muscle, arches, and muscles in the feet. Ease your way into wearing barefoot shoes.

I had serious foot pain due to Plantar fasciitis, it wrecked my life for almost 3 years. I couldn't play golf, exercise , walk at my job, and play disc golf. It was so bad I couldn't do anything anymore. This and a couple other youtube videos showed me the correct method to cure my problem. IT WORKED! I felt relief after the first couple of days, after 3 weeks my foot pain went away for good! I now leed the same active life I once had. THANK YOU and God Bless. It changed my life.

Ok people I had been suffering from Plantar Fasciitis and I tried just about everything. Here is how I cured myself by luck. I joined a gym and started swimming. After my swim I ran in the pool as a way to get a little more exercise. When I got out of the pool I noticed that my foot was no longer hurting. I now swim and run I the pool 4 days a week and I have zero pain. I can even walk barefoot with no pain. Another exercise that I've noticed do the same is jumping rope. I'm in great shape now and no foot pain. I thought I would share. Good luck

Thanks for the video. If you have had plantar fasciitis you know how frustrating it can be.
I cured mine by stretching my hamstrings, changing to ECCO dress shoes, and trying new running shoes until I found a pair that minimized the pain. The entire process took about a year. If you currently have PF the good news is that it can be cured, but you have to be persistent.

TJ Maxx has a sort of "rolling pin" specifically for your feet though. you can find it in the sports section and in the facial/body care section. it kinda looks like a large plastic hour glass type of deal. it's really affordable about $6-$8 and you can put it in the freezer if you want. hope this helps 😀

THANK YOU so much for this video. It literally changed my life. I have suffered from plantar fasciitis for about 18 months. Very badly in my right foot after I suffered an injury and I developed it in my left foot likely from over compensating for my right foot. Every morning and late at night was agony. The only relief I got was in high heels which only further complicates the issue. I went to a podiatrist and had both injections as well as electrical treatments to stimulate. All I ever got from it was temporary relief and an empty wallet. I found your video and as a last ditch effort before having surgery; I tried it. It completely cured me. Mind you, it didn’t take a week. My left foot took about 2.5 weeks and the right foot about 8 weeks. But it’s completely gone and I am so happy to be active again. I’ve lost 26 pounds because I can exercise again and just recently my husband and I were able to run all over Disneyland and California Adventure for two days with absolutely no residual pain. I cannot thank you enough.

Dr. Axe, after suffering from PF for that past 4 years (caused by multiple combat tours) I started researching cures only to find that there are several treatment options that doctors and sufferers teach. After gathering information from dozens of websites and blogs, there seems to be a consensus of what is most beneficial for treating PF: deep tissue massage (I used a golf ball); nutrition with anti inflammatory properties; stretching the plantar fascia, Achilles tendon, calfs and hamstrings; strengthening the foot muscles, tendons, and ligaments by PROGRESSIVELY walking barefoot. It took only about 7 to 10 days for all my symptoms to go away and now after a month of rehab, I started running (barefoot). If I had any doubt in my mind, your video reassured me that what I learned was in fact correct information. Will your advice work for everyone like some magic pill for PF? Probably not because they have to figure out what is causing their PF in the first place or it will only recur no matter how much rehab is accomplished. for an example, if someone is overweight which is causing their PF, most likely no amount of barefoot walking will help this individual because being overweight not only places excessive pressure on the weak foot and plantar fascia, but also causes abnormal gaits which also exacerbates PF. based on other ideas and philosophies about treating PF that I found on the web, your advice is very effective for most people suffering from PF - not to say everyone will benefit from it. So, for all you nay sayers that thinks this doctor is providing a quacky cure from PF think again because I have read a lot of testimonials from people who followed a similar program such as this one Dr. Axe speaks about. "Don't knock it until you try it" and if you have little or no success then something else is causing your PF other than poor fitting shoes... By the way, I posted on facebook that I was going to treat my PF by going barefoot and everyone started freaking out... I found it interesting that after a long debate spanning several days, the majority admitted that their heel pain was less painful when walking barefoot... they are now all ears!!!!
    Good work Doc

AMAZING RESULTS! Yesterday afternoon, I literally couldn't walk. Today, I'm thinking I might go for a run! All thanks to the great advice offered here. I did the deep massage as Dr. Axe recommends with the rolling pin, and the deep stretch on the stairs, and magnesium at bedtime. I did add the "runner's calf stretch" against the wall, and I iced, and took a little ibuprofen. I did the same routine this AM, and I can't believe how much better I am. I highly recommend this routine and much thanks to Dr. Axe. I'm so lucky to have found this RUclips.

Awesome advice ! Thank you so much. Suffered for years listening to top Podiatrist's advice that only made him money building orthotics. I kept asking for tendon repairing foods or supplements to help it heal but was advised to take tylenol . I went on holiday, couldn't stand walking around in shoes so I went barefoot on the sand. Upon returning saw a good chiropractor who aligned the bones in my foot. Now if I have a flare-up from over use I know the drill. 1. Rest it/ elevate. 2. Chiro visit. 3. Massage and stretching. 4. be patient, stay off concrete surfaces and walk only in my 5 Fingers shoes !

I've had plantar faciitis for nearly a year. I have seen a massage therapist which did help a lot but it came back. I saw a podiatrist for orthotics and treatment. Again this did not help much. I always felt that the problem was coming from my back so I have recently seen an osteopath. The osteopath adjusted my hip, my plantar fasciitis is now almost gone and I am feeling the best I have felt in almost a year. I think there may be multiple causes for plantar fasciitis, my advice would be to look further up the leg or even your back or hips. Thanks for a great video.

Thank you for this info. I had it in my right foot from 2 heel spurs about 2 yrs ago, I did stretching and deep tissue massage for it and it took about 3 months and a 45 lb weight loss to relieve it. This time, I currently have it in my left foot due to 2 spurs again and a large weight gain (nursing school stress), one points into the plantar fascia and the other is hitting the Achilles tendon. I'm a nurse now and I'm on my feet all the time (I am also a licensed massage therapist which is what I was doing for work when my right acted up so I could rest more) and it's hard to get relief. I had the shot in my left heel last week and it did NOTHING. I wish I could walk barefoot at work but it would kill my back and it's kind of gross. Barefoot is the most comfortable. The deep tissue is helping and my PT showed me some lacing techniques for my shoes while at work and that has made a big difference. I will try the nutritional aspect now. I'm currently losing the weight I gained and I know that will also help. Thanks for taking the time to make this.

    This exercise works for me:
1-Stand facing a wall and place your hands on the wall at eye level.
2-Put one leg backwards, keeping the front knee bent. Ensure both feet remain flat on the floor.
3-Lean forwards, allowing the front knee to bend until a gentle stretch is felt in the rear leg behind the knee.
4-Hold for thirty seconds, then repeat with the other leg.
5-Rest for thirty seconds, then repeat 3-5 times.

My husband also suffered for nearly a year with this ailment. He said it felt like he was walking on razor blades first thing in the morning. I performed all the typical massage and manipulations that typically are suggested, but none provided any relief. I started scouring the Internet for more ideas and thoughts. I came across a video by Correct Toes that dicusses the issue being more about the tissue dieing rather than being inflamed, a faciosis rather than faciaitis. It was suggested that it was due to shoes that raise the toes upward in a flexed position as well as squishing the toes into an unnatural point as is the shape of many of today's shoes. The suggestion was two part, first to spread the toes apart and second to bend the foot back towards the heel in a plantar flexion. This allows the blood to flow into the plantar facia tendon and really the whole foot. I began doing this treatment on my husband's a flicked foot and the results were nearly immediate. We purchased the correct toes device which is placed in between each of the toes to keep them apart. We have since purchased Lems shoes as they are a minimalist shoe that look like dress shoes. I love Dr. Axe and I agree with the things he has mentioned above but if this addition can help others then I wanted to share. My husband has been pain free for almost a year now!

This has helped me thank you. I think it's more treatment than "cure" but the approach is useful. I use a golf ball for rolling, I tape my foot if pain is bad or I'm going for a run, and I bought some support socks from Amazon to wear around the house part of the day as well.

Then I watched this and I did the steps in the video and my heal became virtually pain free in 5 days and 10 days on I can play matches fully again . Let's hope I can heal my Achilles in the same way.

This really works! Have had plantar fasciitis very mildly in one foot for ages, but have had it very badly in the other foot for about a week (I have a lumbar scoliosis, so I think I don't walk evenly, which gets worse as I get older) Have been in agony, started these exercises etc 2 days ago and I can walk without pain! It hasn't completely gone yet, but is much relieved. Thank you.

Thank you. I just made a dr appointment today but, it's for the middle of September. I cant take the pain for that much longer. I'm going to do all of these exercises starting today and get the vitamins tomorrow. By the comments, I am hopeful. The pain is ridiculously bad. The cost of the vitamins is low compared to the cost of 5he lack of activity. As of yesterday, I can't even walk on the treadmill. Again, thanks. Dave Z.

Try a putting a golf ball in the freezer. One recommendation is do not avoid sensitive area s. It well will hurt bit at first, I started with 15 seconds, then in increments 15 seconds every 8 hours. Soon you be able to roll the golf ball 2 minutes 2-3 times a day.

Vibrams are what caused my plantar fasciitis as it did for all the people involved in the class action lawsuit. Read the articles from podiatrists who have seen huge increases in plantar fasciitis from barefoot shoes. I bought into the hype. I love to go barefoot at home and have done for years. The philosophy made total sense to me. I never had a problem with my feet in my life until I tried Vibrams. Now I am still trying to heal the damage 8 months later and one of the things that provides relief is... you guessed it... a structured shoe. Now after being injured by Vibrams there are days I can barely even walk. I can pinpoint the exact workout I did that damaged my feet in those shoes. I used to go barefoot all the time at home and because of barefoot shoes I can no longer do that. Neither can all the people who have sued Vibram for the damage. All the other advice is good, but the shoe recommendation could be harmful to people. Read the articles from people who did have success with Vibrams until over time the microdamage made it impossible for them to train anymore. Please don't recommend Vibrams like this. They will not work for everyone and they can cause serious lasting damage to the foot if they don't work for a person. If I had ANY clue at all I never would have tried those shoes. A huge regret for me.

I will definitely start taking the vitamins and minerals mentioned plus do the other recommendations.

Helpful advice thank you. I just thought I would mention an alternative to ingesting magnesium is to use magnesium oil. This way the body absorbs the magnesium transdermally thus more effectively as well a by-passing the intestines. This is important as the body can only absorb a certain amount of magnesium. By the way in the video there is no mention of which magnesium is best to takeie citrate, picolate, sulphate chloride etc. Magnesium oil can be used for muscle tension, arthritic pain and the like. Check it out guys!

because the average person never walks barefoot so their weak inactive foot muscles get overwhelmed whenever they do finally walk barefoot. as he said, we are designed to walk barefoot but the problem is that those muscles have become too weak for many people. its the classic case of doctors treating the symptoms (foot pain when walking barefoot) instead of the cause (muscle weakness from never walking barefoot)

    • @mtbin2
      @mtbin2 5 лет назад +8

MVP. Well said. Couldn’t agree more. In treating people with PF, one of the common themes I see is that these people (not all but most) have thin dainty feet that have been sheltered for years/decades by shoes.....shoes that have absorbed the impact and stress that would have strengthened the foot and made it more robust and therefore more injury-proof. So tired of all the podiatrists just treating PF with orthotics and “the correct shoe.” Such crap.

Do you honestly think the human foot was designed to walk with only shoes. Shoes are a relatively modern invention in terms of human historical development and the feet can and will perform w/o shoes or minimal support. It can take time because if you've been using support most of your life, they have actually grown weak. There are many societies (billions of people) that walk either barefoot or have minimal support and some perform better than those with western inventions. (many elite runners spend some time training barefoot)
Start slow by walking around the house regularly, as Dr. Axe suggests and your feet and body will be better for it.
Also, I have found that regular stretching of the calf muscles, especially the deeper muscles (Flexor digitorum longus and Flexor hallucis longus) which are attached to the feet in several locations, can help a great deal.

Plantar Fascitiis is greatly helped by deep tissue massage of the calves. The plantar fascia hooks in at the bottom of the foot on the back side of the calcaneus, but the reason it is so tight has to do with the tension in the calves, so that area should be addressed first. As for barefoot running, the jury is in: it causes foot injuries, and should not be undertaken by people with this type of injury.
