    My bromeliads in central fl are not doing well. I've had them in the ground here and there. One was some sun, one was shade. :p some in dirt, some not

    • @aGirlwithaGarden
      @aGirlwithaGarden  3 года назад +1

      So sorry to hear that 😕. I find that not all broms have the same sun and shade preference. So before planting them in the ground I would just place them in the area you want them to grow still in the pot and watch how they do for a couple of weeks. If they start to look like they aren’t happy then try moving them around to a different spot.

    Could you do an update on the maya plumeria?

    BTW; are U familiar with ‘senecio stapeliformis’? Tall, spindly cactoid, looks gorgeous as it reaches upward, but I’m wondering how to keep it from laying over in some way other than a straw like sleeve to keep it straight! Possible suggestions???

    • @aGirlwithaGarden
      @aGirlwithaGarden  3 года назад

      Yes, I am🌿.. I actually have one. Well that’s the thing, they naturally grow up right to semi-reclined as it gets taller. They can reach to 10” long and they’ll become floppy and won’t stand up right when they get to this maturity. The only way to get them to grow a different way would be to prune it back to a shorter height. Good thing is you can make more plants when you prune but it’ll take away from the height your looking for. You could try staking it if you don’t mind that look.

      @@aGirlwithaGarden thought it was a vriesea but glad to know which one. It's gorgeous. (So hard to spell) Been dying to get one since 1975. Finally just got another variety.

    And it’s called ‘Hannibal lector’ because.....?

    • @aGirlwithaGarden
      @aGirlwithaGarden  3 года назад

      So one of its cross came from Neoregelia ‘Hannibal Lector and that plant got its name from my understanding because of the thick pointy spines found along the leaves. The spines are like tiny teeth grown on the leaves that can draw some blood 🩸 if you’re not careful. Hence the catchy name 😉

    I will not put nails in my tree! This would be entrances for pathogens that could kill a tree.
