hook up your standard ratchet behind your starter board, loose end towards the direction your placing boards... pull out from behind starter when finished
Have you tried it yourself on ipe? I have one of those things but when you’re trying to maintain a straight line on a 80 foot span it’s virtually impossible because each board is not the same width and when the crown or bow is more than 1/4” you need to fine tune how much you have to draw the board parallel to your start board. That’s why :)
I used to use pipe clamps but since most of the decks I’ve done are flush/ level with the coping of the pool I started using straps, takes a lot more time but I think I’m still pretty efficient with my time.
I suppose I could use a helper but I haven’t found one that cost me money instead of both of us making money but if you’re my age you know where our industry has gone right, right...
There’s several types, I’ve been using Deckwise product, you can get them at your local lumber yard where you might purchase your deck lumber or amazon carries it now
I actually have never done a whole deck face screwing and plugging, I’m just not a big fan of plugs, obviously I have to do it around the perimeter of the deck, I’ve repaired a few decks where the plugs have failed tho, and I can’t see myself defacing that beautiful ipe wood deck with plugs!
Love your ratchet set up Bro!!! Wondering were can I get that setup?
home depot
It’s just ratchet straps what?

Nice work.
Why using the straps instead of the deckwise board wrench? Much faster and easier to use as it locks in while you scre in the boards.

After every 3 boards I string a line through the whole length of the deck to keep myself honest and true.

I’m leaning towards face screwing and plugging

Leonard Bumacod you got a valid point on ruining the nice face, even if plugging the holes you can still see them
Very Time consuming
Do it right the first time...this type of hardwood will last 40+ years easy.
