- Have you ever felt “off” like you needed to detox your body? What if I told you that a juice or food detox isn’t really a detox but eating a special type of clay is truly a detox?
We explored this topic of eating clay with this week's episode of the Weekend Wellness Hour Show with author and owner of Detox Dirt, Ran Knishinshky. Ran shared with us his journey into the clay-eating world when he had a ganglion cyst that he didn’t want to have cut out or injected. He chose to eat clay instead which resolved the cyst!
We discussed what happens when the body eats a substance like clay and how that truly detoxes the body by absorbing and adsorbing toxins. Ran explained how this process helps the body to return to better health.
He shared that you can’t eat just any clay out of the ground. There are many types and it’s critical that you get a pharmaceutical-grade clay from a reputable source that has been cleaned so that it’s appropriate for consumption.
We discussed the special clay, montmorillonite, that he uses on a daily basis and how he eats, or rather, drinks it. He gave the dosage and went through how much you can take as well as if there are side effects.
Ran also shared some insight into his book, The Clay Cure, and the new release that will be coming out in 2022 with updates. He is a wealth of knowledge on this topic and shared even more in the interview!
Ran has been eating clay daily for more than 30 years. He has worked in both the naturopathic and allopathic medicine industries, first as the owner of a homeopathic dispensary and later as a consultant and marketing executive in the hospital and pharmaceutical sectors. He holds an MBA from Arizona State University and is the developer of the edible clay product, Detox Dirt. He is the author of Prickly Pear Cactus Medicine and The Prozac Alternative.
Please join us to learn how eating a special clay can detox your body and improve your health!

Thanks Janice! Ran is so knowledgeable with this!
Thank you Dr Amy for the interview! I loved talking about the health benefits of eating dirt! My new book Healing with Clay is due out February 2021. Exciting!
Ooh, I love the title! Can't wait to read it! Loved having you on the show! :-)
He’s cool. Thank you for this knowledge.
You're welcome! Ran has a ton of knowledge and experience in this area and I'm hoping to get him on for another interview!
😂 he's hilarious; he makes learning interesting. Thanks for the interview. I will be sharing it.😊
Thanks Barbara! Yes, he's awesome! I'm trying to get some time with him to do another interview!
Wow, I had a ganglion cyst removed from the top of my wrist when I was in middle school (early 70's.) The doc told me that it may come back in 30 years. Well, it sure did....30 yrs later after a car hit me in the parking lot of WalMart. My wrist hit the steering wheel and broke it. Five months later a cyst grew in the same spot!! I have a lympoma and another small cyst on my back. I ordered some clay just this morning and found your video. I am anxious to see it works on mine!!!
Thanks for sharing this Nancy! I hope it works out for you as well!
Did it work?
@@shaherbano1858 Ran shared his experience with it working.
He mentioned flouride which is extremely unheathly. Maybe he was just making a point
Hi Solomon, Yes, Ran was just making a point. Thanks for mentioning that!
Why not mix it in water and drink it.
Hi Keith. That's exactly how I consume it. Some people don't like the taste so they add other flavors to it.
@@DrAmyNovotny thanks! After I listened further in I got that. 😊
Oh good. Glad to hear that! 🙂@@keithjones4565
Have you ever heard of pascalite clay? It doesn't swell when moist, like bentonite clay does. May be more effective.
Thanks for sharing this. I'll have to look it up. Ran was discussing montmorillonite clay and the benefits of it in this video, not bentonite clay.
@@DrAmyNovotny On the side of his Detox Dirt it reads Montmorillonite clay (purified calcium bentonite) so you were talking about bentonite clay. Great video!
@@robi8279 Thanks for sharing Robi!
Has your clay been tested for Lead?
Great question. Please out to him!
Is it safe to drink a spoon of bentonite clay in water every day?
Hi Veronika. Ran suggests starting small with a teaspoon in your water. Thanks!
@@DrAmyNovotny thank you:)
@@veronikailovepuppies9489 You're welcome Veronika!
am i missing something here he didnt once mention bentonite clay ??
Hi. He uses Montmorillonite clays which I guess are the same as bentonite clay 🙂
He is not a doctor right? Just an author so take this info and process it along with advice from others such as your ND -Doctors and Chiropractors
Thank you for commenting. Yes, Ran is not a physician.
You said you have been eating it for 30 years so why weren't you eating it the time you got sick in Ensenada it would have prevented the illness
I'm not sure who you are referring to??
