    I called Dexcom about using the abdomen because i have trouble with my hands. They say they have not done enough testing on abdomen application, but if your doctor says it’s okay then you can apply to abdomen. So that’s what I did and it seems like it’s working great. So far I like it! I like the enormous savings in plastic. It seems more accurate than the G6.

    Thanks for the video Tom! Unfortunately Dexcom is very unfair to the Android users. Whenever I get a new Android update, or when I switch my phones (from Pixel 5 to 6 and then to 7 pro), the Dexcom app doesn't work and says that it's not tested with that version. It's like we are forced to choose apple products. On the other hand, Freestyle libre always worked fine with all the phones and updates that I had. I hope Dexcom fix these issues.

      @@alliemay6076 I agree that it's difficult especially because the FDA demands testing it with each versions of android. However these are all typical challenges in a work. • @whitelilycalla

      it is not the problem caused by Dexcom. Every time there is a new phone, Dexcom has to recreate its apps to work with a new phone version, update them, test them and get an approval. All these take time. It happens with new Apple products too.

The G7 are supposed to last for 10 days but after going through a three-month supply in less than 2 months they lasted on average 6 days for me before sensor failure. I loved the continuous readings to my phone and watch but I had a couple fail after one day of use! I'm back with the Libre 2 as the Libre 3 isn't available here in NZ yet but have found it to be reliable and lasts the full 14 days. It's a shame as I loved the features of the G7. Medicare covers Dexcom G7, usually a 3 month supply at a time. One waterproof “over patch” comes with each sensor. They can be sticky and tricky to get on. Customer service said they are working on supplying JUST extra over patches as many have called needing extras rather than opening a whole new meter box just to get another patch out. Other than that it works great.

    Thanks Tom, well done! The one app feature I'd really like is a voice announcement feature at a user-chosen interval of blood glucose level and direction. For example, every five minutes I hear: " 95 Flat" or "210 Falling Fast". I exercise regularly and would really like to hear my blood sugar without any manual intervention on my part. 1. It disconnects quite frequently though it is in range of 20 ft , never disconnected even if I am away 30ft in G6
    2. The values are going up and down in saw tooth pattern rather it used to be smooth before
    3. Does it store all samples and transmits when connected after few minutes as we used to wait 15 minutes every time it disconnects
    4. Overall I see G6 values are pretty closer to fingersticking than G7 any comments

    I will start my Dexcom G7 sensors in a week. Do you know if there is any advantage in getting the Dexcom receiver? Is the receiver just for folks who don't have a smart device? Thanks.

    You can't warm up the sensor prior to use, it must be inserted beforehand and it does take minimum 28 minutes to warm up before showing your reading.

    I got one two days ago. It was wildly inaccurate. My wifevheard the urgent low alarm and panicked that i would die in the middle of the night from hypoglycemia. I was in the middle of a 3 day fast and while dexcom had my glucose below 55 (us) One Touch had it mid 70s. I assumed it was correct. Ecen though it said "danger Will Robinson " i had no sweating, no uncontrollable jitters, no flushing, no mental confusion. But the alarms kept me up alot during the night despite my best efforts to mute or reduce volume.

    I use the dexcom g6 in the US and I have so many problems with it on the abdomen area. If you do a lot of bending over and exercise it stops reading or falls off. I just decided to put it on my arm and it works so much better. I wouldn't put it on the abdomen if I was you.

    Sounds like the G7 has some improvements over the G6 which I currently use. Unfortunately, I live in the U. S. and it will probably be 6 months to more than a year before the G7 is available here. I look forward to seeing more information on the G7. I guess I am weird because I don’t mind the 10 life span of the G6, I guess because I really didn’t like the Libre (earlier version than the latest one) because it didn’t wake me up when my glucose fell low during the night and my G6 does a good job of waking me up.

    • @chio987
      @chio987 Год назад

      I also would restart my sensors but then I just ran into the problem where my transmitter hit it's 90 days anyways so I would have extra sensors I couldn't use and my med supply/insurance would only send me the transmitter with 9 sensors at a time as a made up bundle and not just a transmitter. If I end up with a spare/extra transmitter from my endo then I for sure do it but don't know how much of a loss it would be in my case. I'm just super happy the G7 is almost here (in the US and loop) Bolus from my phone was already a big win for me and now this snuck up on me since I was sick of watching out for the G7 so I haven't checked in on it for awhile and then just randomly saw this vid.

    • @timpedzinski230
      @timpedzinski230 Год назад

      @@chio987 My insurance lets me pick up my supplies from the local Walgreens in 90 day supply increments do I get 9 sensors at a time and 1 transmitter. I restart the sensor 2 times so 9 sensors last 9 months and a transmitter usually lasts about 100+ days. So by extending my sensors my copay costs me $40/ month instead of $73 / month when averaged out.
      The only complication is I have to calibrate several times on day 1 of a restart. For me a restarted sensor always starts out reading high after the warmup period. After day one the sensor reads well the rest of the 9 days.

      With a CGMS, the change to the newer model does not cost the insurance company anything extra. You stop buying the old CGMS, and start buying the new CGMS. Unlike with a pump, where you pay the whole cost up front. CGMS sensors are 1-2 weeks and then have to be replaced. At roughly the same cost. Changing CGMS is like going from Humalog to Novolog to Apidra insulin. Assuming your insurance company approves all three, it would not care which you use or if you switch from one to the other every month. That is how a CGMS should work too.

    The G6 was supposed to be on abdomen! G7 is much better on the arm. Overpatch should be on so you don’t bump it(loose). 15 min and no calibration is the best feature. A lot more expensive, even with insurance! Features are much better with the G7. Averages glucose level over 3-7-14-21 days.
