this is one of the greatest and most emotional shows ever created! Enjoy the ride! two notes: 1. there is an OVA that is placed early on in the show chronologically, so it's recommended to watch it after EP4 before continuing to EP5. It's not too bad if you miss it but there is a jump that's a bit less jarring if you watch it first. 2. there are two Violet Evergarden movies that you can watch. The first one is nice with just a few additional stories, the second is highly controversial, half the people love it, the other half absolutely hate it. I personally think it betrayed a lot of the character development we get in the show so I wouldn't recommend it (but I can already tell there will be a lot of people begging you in the comments to watch it anyways). I think it's best to see how you enjoy the story by the end of the series and if you want it to continue or if you're cool with where it leaves off.
violet evergarden has been and most likely will always be my no.1 anime. I've watched roughly over 200+ "maybe a lot higher lost count after a while" anime from garbage to god tier in the past 14-15 years since young teen, and this anime had me happy but made me ball my eyes out crying like a little bch and i'm a grown a** man DAMIT 😢. from the well written characters, emotions, scenery, art, soundtrack,and pacing to me at least its a masterpiece. its basically like movie quality but in a 14 ep season. it'll be very hard for anyone to change my opinion on this anime XD.

Violet Evergarden is perhaps the most beautifully human anime I've ever seen, and it is seen through the eyes of a cold and unemotional soldier. The true beauty of the show will reveal itself in the unraveling of her soul. Glad you chose to witness it!

This anime is so good but man it tears at your heartstrings. If you want another anime like this try Wolfs Rain! Its older, but I think youd love it with its unique characters and music

Usually it’s not easy to make me cry watching stuff, and after I’ve seen it once it usually won’t make me cry again but this show, despite watching it so many times I’ve lost count when I get to a 2 specific episodes I don’t just cry I sob, the ugly sobs with snot and ends with you getting a headache and you gotta drink like a gallon of water cause you just cried the majority of water in your damn body. I was gonna show my grandma this show because we love anime like this but I don’t think she’d be able too make it through, she’d watch it all but I think it would traumatize her or something, she cries at depression medication commercials, not just like one or two tears but a full moment of crying.

You opened Pandora's box. This anime is a must-see in Kyoto Animation. Because in 2019, there was that arson incident during the production of the theatrical version of this anime. Many production staff were killed and injured, and it was said that it was difficult to complete the film, so it was accomplished despite the difficult situation. Watching all these Violet Evergarden series is a requiem for those who have passed away halfway. You should watch it to the end.
I would like to recommend to add script. This is very famous anime. And well known in JPN. I expect many person waiting your reaction. Hopefully JPN script, too.

I went on a journey watching all of KyoAni stuff. Only one left are Full Metal Panic and Lucky Star.
