GIVE THIS A THUMBS UP IF YOU LOVE A CHEAP MOD THAT SAVES YOU TONNES OF MONEY 😎
How crazy I was just looking about how to fit the mount to my S5..
Stumbled across your video and I’m watching like.. “I know that garage... wait that’s Chromzy!”
We’re both in P-town 😆
I have a 2013 A5 2.0 TDI convertible with 177 ps multitronic gearbox. Did the reset gearbox you outlined at end of video and it worked! Many thanks much smoother auto box... will be looking into bush to see if it’s relevant to 2.0 engine as opposed to v6 3.0.. many thanks 👍😀
same parts
YumCars products are like Nick and Kelly, awesome!!! The work and effort those guys put into all the little details is unreal.
You are making me want an Audi 😂🙈 only a daily though...
They are awesome Kelly! Haha go get one! I love mine 😎
El reinicio de la caja de cambios que explicas al final del vídeo, se puede hacer tambien con la tip tronic zf hp28? O solo es posible con la multitronic?
Tht is acc so good how much of a difference that made for such a small and easy mod rlly surprised tbf
100% if I find anymore then I will post them!
Nice video mate, just ordered one next knew about this issue with the 3.0tdi 👍
Good man! Hope it helps 😎
@@SOCIALLYDRIVEN can you request cars at global motors? As I want a a5 3.0 tdi and I’m local to you
First mod I did on my b9 s4. Definitely helps but I need to do that rear diff also 😖
Do all the mods you possibly can on the Audi de chroming first and film the process instead of just explaining love your videos keep it up!
6:04 the reason for the cable ties is because the transmission skid pan is partially held in with these absolute bastards of push pins that always break, I also gave up, chucked the skidplate and ziptied the engine plate to the frame lmao. Makes it way easier to work on
Did this mod and now having loud incar noise. Did you experience same?
Class 👌 will do a buy next week
Get it done mate 😎
@@SOCIALLYDRIVEN any other cheaper/easy mods you'd recommend or have found? Enjoyed the vid mate, looking forward to the future content
Car looking nice with new wheels
I take it by meaning it’s the “good” auto box, you mean zf torque converter not the non auto s-tronic and multichronic gearboxes?
You gonna do a chrome delet lad?
De chrome is coming pal!
Is one enough for my 2.0 tfsi quattro?
Did you need to take the piece out first then or did it just fit over the top? Bit unclear on the video
That insert won't do anything to 'save you thousands' - when the mechatronics goes in those DL501 transmissions you will see!
I’ve got an Audi S3 8P (DSG) I take it it would fit to mine as well as I’ve noticed this as well and it’s rather harsh
Possibly! Check the link in the description mate
What does adding that part actually do? Glad it makes a difference!
Stiffens the gearbox so there’s less movement which without can cause jolting/jerking
@@SOCIALLYDRIVEN ahhh awesome! Great video man! Thank you for letting me know 😊
Can this be done on a separate tropic A6
nice and easy mod, well done.
So easy and hopefully it goes a long way to help others also!
Hi Luke do you know if this fits my A3 saloon 2.0 tdi as notice mines can be very hesitant at times.
What year mate?
@@SOCIALLYDRIVEN 2015 pfl
Yes Chromzy not see you in years 😀
Will this fit my a6 c7 3.0tdi?
My A5 sometimes pops a message.. Gearbox mulfnctionins continue driving.... Then it reduce speed or doesn't engage fast enough..... Serviced it but still.. What's the problem.
That’s not good
Happening to me too, did you manage to fix it, what was the issue?
mecatronic unit? remove and refurbish?
Had this issue. Replaced clutch to fix
What about Audi 3.2?
Do you need more power from that after being in court
Are you sure we need it? What it does, i don't understood because i'm not english, i'm ukrainian 😅
Shoulda gotten a manual ;)
Is it still working ok?
Yeah
Just ordered one I’m hoping it makes a big difference for me
Did it make a difference?
@@hexsdouble6seven911 it made a huge difference between shifts, I would 100% recommend. It’s a cheap part and easy to install, just be carful with the bolts.
9:15 Near miss 😯
Yeah guy got lucky
Get it mapped
It is already remapped but will be getting done again once the pipe goes onnn
What is this anyway? what is this saving me from? Can someone give me a rough explanation?
Looks like it’s a rubber gearbox mount being replaced with a solid non-shock absorbing mount. Personally I’d be replacing the original mount with a new one, a solid mount is just going to cause more issues down the line as the box will take more vibrations than it needs to. If it could have been a solid mount from the factory they’d have done just that instead of wasting time with a rubber mount
@@jaygee6447 Thank you. This sounds wise.
Basically the gearbox is held into the frame at the rear end (where it connects to the driveshaft) by a rubber bushing. The rubber bushing is positioned in a small gap so the transmission has (slight) space to move around , I guess its designed this way to reduce induced vibrations in the cabin.
As the bushings wear, the transmission can move around in this cavity an exessive amount. So when you are driving and say, let off the throttle, the change in direction of torque (engine goes from supplying torque in one direction to providing a braking force in the opposite direction), causes the gearbox to twist and this manifests itself as noticible backlash in the drivetrain, effectively the wheels and the engine have some backlash between them because of this twisting. Its especially noticible when the is a large change in torque, i.e. shifting into low gears and stopping.
This insert has little metal fingers that go into that cavity and fill it, preventing the gearbox from moving nearly as much and therefore reducing backlash. Think of it like sticking coasters under one leg of a wobly table. The downside is without the large give, there can be more induced vibrations in the cabin. However if you have an old and worn DSG, the benefits largely outweigh the small downside.
What the other dude said is very close, but the rubber mount is still there, its not replaced, just "reinforced" if you will
@@Byefriendo Wow, Thank you! Respect for a detailed explanation. Does it work for a manual transmission as well?
@@ml1760 I dont see why it wouldn't, a DSG is mechanically identical to a manual (well, 2 manuals) so id suspect you'd have the same issues with backlash and clunkyness. Im not sure if the manuals use the same failure prone mount however, so I can't give a definite answer on that one.
I can't understand, what actually the fck doing that ?
Basically the gearbox is mounted to the frame with a rubber shock absorbing mount that over time wears out. This allows the gearbox to twist and move about slightly, which manifests itself as noticable backlash in the drivetrain, especially noticable when shifting into low gears or stopping. This insert goes into the the mount and fills the gaps in it that are given for side to side play, think of it like the bump stops at the end of suspension. This means the gearbox cant torque left and right and therefore removes most of the backlash
