I mean like if you weren’t already in tears before…that last bit is what gets them flowing🥺for sure!
I’m not exaggerating when I say that even tho I’ve heard this song like idk…probably close to 100 freaking times(seriously I’m not lying y’all) when it gets to that part I *still* get goosebumps every single time my dude, and sometimes even a bit teary eyed as well! It’s that powerful, hearing his voice cracking and the nail in the coffin is his absolutely devastating “them pills got you right……them pills got you right!?”
Ugh😖………it like physically hurts my heart man! Every damn time!

@@sengibang As someone who has been following NF since his very first album came out, its so awesome to finally see him reach the personal/spiritual growth he expressed in Hope. Not to spoil any of the Journey for Teddy, but NF's musical career obviously took off and far outgrew is personal growth, and even though i havent remotely experienced the same life/hurt that NF (and TeddyGreyonStuff for that matter) had, i was far more excited for the deeper meaning behind the lyrics of Hope than i ever was for the musical success and hype of any of NF's albums/singles.

    • @nathandts3401
      @nathandts3401 Год назад +4

      @@sengibang I don't know about that. I've said for a long time, half-jokingly and half-sincerely that I'd probably end it at 40 if I don't have a partner/kids to be there for.
I get the feeling that Hope wouldn't have happened if NF didn't have someone to be responsible for. I don't imagine it solves everything, but I expect his son is a huge factor in helping him move on from some of his past. He's got something more important to think about.

Alcoholic dad, a little boy with his bags packed every other weekend, sitting in the window waiting to see his car pull up…he rarely ever did, but I’d still sit there every time thinking maybe this time is different. It’s amazing how this song can take a grown ass man right back to that kitchen window so vividly and excruciatingly. Unfortunately he passed before I could ever get closure, so I feel you on the difficulty of trying to deal with and process it without that opportunity. Great react as always. I respect the hell out of a man than can show that real emotion so confidently and honestly. Lookin forward to the rest of the journey.

Most people won’t even talk about their feelings, can’t even admit them to themselves I just can’t even fathom the amount of inner strength it takes.
And he’s even moved into forgiving her now in Hope.

The line “I hate the way I remember you” hit me hard because that was how I felt. Six years of watching him battle addiction made it difficult to remember the good times. ❤ It’s been five years now since he left this world and I am glad to say that I can finally look back and laugh at the good times we had. This song is the exact representation of me and my fathers relationship… him and my mother divorced when I was 2, and he had an alcohol addiction, only seen him a handful of times between the ages of 2-10 years old, then he moved to Florida and I never seen him again, in 2020 he died. I’ve spent my entire life questioning why I was never good enough, why he was never there…. Why I never got to have a dad. It’s a very difficult song to listen to, down to the small details of him wanting at the window for her to show up, and then calling saying she’s not, crying myself to sleep, all of it….. so spot on for my experience.

I did not listen to any of his other music until Hope came out. My daughter was in the room when it was playing and she was in tears by the end of it. She is 30 and suffers with depression and anxiety. I have gone back and listened to quite a bit of his older stuff and it all effects me and makes me wish I knew how to help my daughter more. So many people are going through this and it is heartbreaking.

That was ,hands down, the best reaction to this song I’ve ever watched. I grew up without my dad being at home because of his alcoholism so my mom divorced him. He rarely came around and when he did come to get me or my sister, he was drunk or would start drinking as we’d drive away. My kids kind of relate because their mom was hooked on meth a few years back and it literally almost killed her so this song hits home about what could have happened. I know people say addiction is a disease but it’s a choice. If you can choose to start, choose to stop. I know it’s hard, but people need you, especially your kids if you have kids.

When a human opens his heart in a sincere, humble and profund way, it's painfull but at the same time a consolation. Tears can be the result of a sad memory, a real anguish that is hurting us or a sign of empathy for a bad moment in someone else's life, but that tears prove that we care for others. Proves that we are vulnerable, but in the end, that make us strong, modest and loving.
Thanks Eddy for this. We care for you too and be happy with your family. NF songs make us think in the 'real' things on life that are really important.

But now I feel I have truly lost him😔💔 It has been 3 years ago since I last saw him. He doesn't wanna talk to me. But before I left him (after I found out he became addicted again) I have send him a letter in wich I poured my heart out by telling him that he deserves the best. And it was actually a goodbye letter from my part. Because we were too unstable to make it work unfornutually. The feelings were there for sure. But the traumas were too big.. :( So I had to leave to also work on myself too. Our bound was toxic aswell due our copingmechanisms. We couldn't admit that we liked eachother so instead of that it was always very difficult. I still love him tho but I think he has moved on. He is still in his toxic enviorement and got a lot of attention from girls and even had a relationship already.. Nowadays I see sometimes a picture of him. He has become só skinny, its really scary😔 But the most sad thing is that I haven't seen the real guy anymore in years since the time that I left him..💔 I can not see that guy anymore when I look into his eyes🥺 I feel like I am to blame or something. But at the same time I had no other choice than to leave him..💔😔 I still wanna go back to him. But he has shut the door and doesn't seem interested in me.. :(

Just to note, in this song, he says he hasn't forgiven his mom yet, but in "Hope" when he talks about his son and how he won't have to wait at the window wondering if dad will show up, he says it's not a shot at his mom and that he has forgiven her. It's such a powerful statement.

I haven't lost a parent in the way he is talking with her passing, but I lost my dad by his choosing... the culmination of which was him showing up on Christmas Eve with a shotgun to take my mom out because she was moving on with her life after their separation.
He didn't succeed, but the trauma from that night has lasted for the rest of my life. I've never seen him again either.

you are not alone.... right there with you brother. I was an only child. My parents separated when I was less than a year old. I lived with my mom but my dad was only a 15 minute drive away. Several weekends he said he was coming to get me and I would be sitting on the porch with my bags packed waiting for hours and he was a no show. When I got older I learned he was a partying guy.... always drinking... always gambling... always chasing women. So much so he easily forgot about his son that he said he was coming to get. He worked construction.... made good money... and I learned years later my mom had to take him to court numerous times because he wouldn't pay his child support. Unfortunately i too started to fall into an alcohol addiction in my young adult years.... following in his footsteps I guess. He got arrested for his 3rd DUI and ended up in jail. His 2nd wife told him if he didn't quit drinking he would be out on his ass. On top of that the doctors were telling him he was on the road to dying because of his liver and all of his years of drinking. And he still didn't stop. So I gave up on him... stopped trying to have a relationship with him. Then I got a call from his sister that he was in the hospital... nonresponsive.... in a coma because they had to do surgery on him and he just never woke up. He was technically still married but his wife had kicked him out so it came down to me to direct the doctors to pull the plug on him. I relied heavily on the recommendation of my family, his two sisters and brother and all my cousins all came to the unanimous agreement but it was still my decision. I watched him take his last breath and then I threw myself over him and cried "don't go" But his death was enough to break me to realize i needed a change and this was all before I started a family of my own. Not a day goes by I wish he was hear to see his grandbabies.

On his album MOMENTS, which was produced out of his own pocket at 18, there is a song, called BEAUTIUL, I think that is the song he played for his mom before she overdosed, it talks about her being beautiful, but broken, and how he wishes she could have seen herself thru his eyes. So young to have such heartache at the time. NF music moves me, even on the moments album, when the music left a lot to be desired, the lyrics were still there.

I have to say I really love your heart. Being on the NF journey is not an easy journey. It’s really about him and his life. But it’s well worth it to understand him and see where he came from. He puts so many Raw emotions in his songs. And it makes his audience feel everything. I’m really glad to see you do this and to see where he came from and see who he really is. Thank you for doing this

Its crazy to think of how bad many of us had or have it, and how hard life is to ALOT of us all. And yet if you log onto social media you almost only see happy faces, we hide so many things as human beings! Thats what is so amazing with people like NF who can put hes feelings down on paper and make such an art as NF does, HE HEALS SO MANY JUST BY BEING HONEST

Also, I hope you were able to salvage the sweatshirt after this 😉

I also want to point out since it was his song Hope that was the first song you heard.... in this song he says "I'm not gonna say i forgive you because it hasnt happened yet" but in Hope he says he wasn't taking shots at his mom and that he forgives her. So it was nice to see it come full circle from this song that his journey on Hope begins with forgiving his mom. It's a huge weight lifted if we can find that place of forgiveness.

I discovered NF a couple years ago when I started my own personal healing journey from traumas I experienced growing up. It’s hard for me to listen to some of his songs since they take me back into emotions and memories that I don’t like going to. How ever, I have learned that sometimes it’s the very thing that I need to do to heal. Visit the memories and feel that pain. I tell myself that it’s okay to feel hurt by this. Burying it did nothing but hurt me more.
Hearing Hope brought me such joy. Nate has put in the fucking work to deal with himself and his struggles and it seems like that work has paid off for him. I know it has for me.
Much love to you Teddy❤ I hadn’t heard of you until I was searching for NF reactions and stumbled upon your video. It seems ridiculous I’m sure but you can tell that you have a good soul and pure energy. Best of luck and well wishes in your own journey of healing and growth!

That was my reaction to the the first time I seen it. I’m a single dad to a boy and a girl at the time of first hearing, she was on the streets shooting up. I felt for my kids and balled my eyes out. She passed by OD almost two years ago it’s been a rough road. If it wasn’t for Jesus.

i don't know your situation to the fullest but my dad left me alone when i was a baby. some would say if he wasn't there how can you miss him. in my day at school we had father son days also in boy scouts. its amazing how hurtful children are toward each other at such a young age my mom was amazing always fulfilling the role. the day after my 21st bday i got a call from my father. long story short i wish i would've never met him. sometimes what you think you want might be more painful then the alternatives. hopefully though it was only in my case. cheers brother
    stay strong.

I had a feeling you were going to resonate with this and just watched it to go through the pain with you and cry with you. I know it’s strange because you recorded this prior to us watching it but wanted to support regardless. 💔 Will continue to lift you up in prayer.

NF has performed this song live a few times and he has a hard time getting through it each time. He had a really hard time recording it too, he supposedly had to have everyone leave the recording studio for the last part where he is kinda just talking to the mic.

I empathize with people who are hurting because I've suffered a lot of pain in my life including just losing my daughter to the fentanyl epidemic. I weep openly and in private. My heart breaks for others so it's most definitely ok to show your emotions! Don't bottle them up or they will consume you!!!
