I wouldn't get rid of either appliance. They both serve a function. Some leftovers are fine being reheated in microwave and others are better in the air fryer. I think that an accomplished home cook wouldn't get rid of a useful kitchen tool even if it's seldom used. I wouldn't get rid of my Xmas cookie cutters just because I only use them once a year.

Liquids like corn or things that are wet/moist do not deal well in the air fryer. They'll fall through the grates. The microwave is perfect for those.

For most air fryers, the other buttons are like time/temp presets, so they don't change how the food is cooked. For the TurboBlaze, the different options change the fan speed, which can affect the end result. I typically just air fry though

@@empoweredcooks That must be what mine does change the fan speed. I tried a couple of the other buttons and couldn't figure it out but did get bad results so just use the air fry setting. The reheat button takes twice the amount of time to get good results. Thanks for the info

I got rid of my microwave about 6 months ago. I bought a Cuisinart air fryer/toaster oven. It had a slight learning curve, and it takes longer to reheat my leftovers. However, I read some bad things about microwaves destroying the nutrients out of food. I prefer the air fryer for that reason. My food comes out tasting better. Also, there are no hot and cold spots like witha microwave.

Microwave is the best (even better than stovetop) for boiling potato or vegetable and cooking rice (yes, no rice cooker needed if you have a microwave ricepot). pasta as well but I am not experienced enough for this.
I only use my stovetop for frying meat (because I think cosori too bad to clean so I don't put meat other than sausage in ), air fryer for fries , grilled cheese bread or reheating buns and microwave for rice, potato, brokkoli, cauliflower etc. to cook

I use my microwave every day. I par cook baking potatoes for 10 minutes, then they finish in the oven in 20 minutes. Air fryer takes longer for me. Cook pot pies mostly in microwave, then they only have to get brown and bubbly after 15 minutes in the oven. All the steam in bag veggies and stuff like that. I hate having to drag out the air fryer unless I'm cooking meat or bacon. I don't have enough room to keep it out. Then having to wash it all and carry it to the wire rack where other small appliances live.
Hubs and I don't eat frozen 'kid' foods like pizza rolls, tater tots, hot pockets or stuff like that. Each has a use for me.

How about half the time (45 seconds) microwave and half time in air fryer ? (Under 10 minutes to be done)

  •  3 месяца назад

Often when I come home and put things in the microwave oven and then get a plate, glass and so, then try to get things ready, like turn on the television to relax and eat and so, but the microwave oven is too fast and often make things too hot, to put my frozen Pizza in the fryer and then get 10 to 15 minutes to do things is so much more relaxing and the result is often better with heat that feel more natural, as it was cooked normally. But when I play computer and just was a quick bite, then I go for the fastest way.
Booth are great kitchen tools, and my micro have also a heating element that can be used, but then it same time as air.

Purchase a microwave combo. "Air fryer" is a scam title. The real name is "convection oven." This was invented in 1914 and made available to the public in 1945.
You can buy (you might already own) a microwave with a button that says "convect/convection."
If you already owned this type of microwave, you got scammed into buying a duplicate appliance. The air fryer was completely unnecessary. All you had to do is hit 1 extra button on the microwave and it will air fry instead of microwaving.
The creation of the new title was obviously to rip people off. There have been many hybrid products available since 1945. Convection/conventional oven and convection/toaster oven have been available but the convection/microwave combo is probably the most common now. This often includes a "browning" function or "toasting" function. Mine has a thermal sensor which can maintain a liquid at steaming or boiling temperature.
The microwave version is fool proof and it can send you notifications via Bluetooth 😅
