I love that you're going for a more timeless style in your home. I feel like a lot of people our age tend to go super trendy or glam (like the z gallerie mirrored trend for example) so I appreciate that you're going for something that's still modern but classic. I love it!
@emily I disagree. Sure, her kitchen is on the trendier side, but her home decor as a whole has a timeless feel. The style of her sofas and the paneling are definitely not trendy, but they do incorporate a modern take on more traditional elements. Nothing wrong with that.
I LOVE that darker wall color! In my opinion, the room looks a little bit too crowded. And it's a shame to block that beautiful french door. I would rotate some of that furniture pieces around the room to free the door and I think it would look great it on of the sofas is facing the TV. It's just an observation. :) Keep up the good work!
Love your house. It is so cozy. It’s not too contrived as if you’re designing it for Architectural Digest. It is stylish yet normal, if you know what I mean.
You should have one couch facing the TV, the ottoman in front of the couch, and then chairs on either side! it would open the room up more in my opinion!

Also, I find sharing a sofa to be really comfy actually, but if they wanted their own space, one of them could sit in a chair which they could also put an ottoman in front of. Overall, though, it's obviously their choice! I've just never seen someone with two sofas in one room!
I agree! It would make it so much easier facing the tv, and not having to twist to see the screen. I also think the 2 sofas are just wayyyyy too much for the size of this room
Hi Victoria, it's looking lovely! Huge congratulations to you and Alex for the beautiful home you've been able to create at such a young age. Just a few suggestions that you might consider : walnut shelving from dado up in the alcoves on both sides of fireplace for books and decor, maybe put one of the sofas facing the fireplace in front of dresser (that way both would have view through the beautiful French doors), and then a low chaise in front of French windows so they're not blocked in any way. I know you'll be readjusting things over the next while as you live in the space, so you'll find what suits you both and makes you comfortable. Best of luck with the rest of the house xx

Always do what you love and what fits your lifestyle when decorating!! I love how the couches face each other so the room can accommodate a crowd of people socializing and chatting away for the night! And you can look out your beautiful window while you work from the couch. You seem to have maximized seating in the more narrow room! You know best how you want to utilize the room!
I also definitely agree - get the bigger plant! :) the scale of the room is a bit off at the moment. The couches and poof are huge, but other things are tiny and it just throws off the overall scale/balance and kind of makes it feel "overcrowded" in some places and then, by contrast, too empty in others. A huge plant would help even that out I think - Even at the end of the room near the door as that comes across as empty on screen. Could be totally different in person though! this is just how it comes across via a screen

Some really lovely features in this room. I love the dark red on the fireplace wall and that chair in the corner is stunning. Too much furniture for me to get around easily but I think the settees are lush.
I think once the curtains are up in front of the french doors (we don't really use them, we use the ones parallel in the orangery that you can see through the windows) it'll come together even more - we just love it so far! xx

So I think once the lovely draped curtains are up behind the sofa our vision will come together even more :) super cosy and ready to be decorated for the season too xx
Just a thought, I think would look beautiful! Maybe you could consider painting the shelf above the fire in white? I think the contrast would look amazing with the colors and especially in contrast with the burgundy wall :-)

I like the blend of two sofas together but the linen furniture in the middle looks too cluttered. My only suggestion is that a nice Marble table in the centre would amp up the space. At the end of the day you need a place where you can move around easily. You can put the linen furniture somewhere els, may be in reading room or library if you have any.
Love your home and decor. It's great to see how you mix and match styles and eras. It somewhat reminds me of how you put your outfits together - rather chic. The color Peignoir is beautiful. I may use it in a bedroom. I'm not brave enough to try it in a great room - just yet. Keep the room renovations coming!
It's such a beautiful colour! When we had our colour consultation we sat on the floor in that room and it was so interesting to see the light hitting different walls and how certain base colours brought out different shades in the room/red statement wall xx

I seriously think that I've never seen anyone, who is not a veteran interior designer, who has been able to reflect their personality in their home decor as well as you two- and I'm a bit of a interiors enthusiast. Your fashion and graphic design backgrounds are really tempering your choices well. And I think you've always had a strong ability to reflect your taste over the various moves I've watched you two go through over the years. I know you're not finished, but it's already very much Victoria and Alex' house. I love that although a lot of the colours and lines are fashionable, they're there because we know you love them and they do look good. I don't think you've introduced anything into your space that is just there because it's a trend, as you so often see done ( which ends up looking like an eyesore the moment it's put into a home). The sideboard storage setup kind of reminds me of the sideboard my grandpa kept his record collection in😁. I was worried about the sofas and the spacing, but looking at it from the entrance to the room the size of the sofas actually makes it look very cozy. I think a runner style carpet would look great as well, though perhaps you guys should wait a bit on making a major investment into the type of rug you purchase and rather get something that'll work for your first winter there, until your travels take you somewhere like Morocco again? My mother loves carpets and rugs and she has the most beautiful Afghan kilim under her dining table in all the colours that match your theme, and it's actually quite subtle too. So it's definitely possible to find something like that. I'm looking forward to the rest and I hope you have fun decorating!💐💕

Really like the vibe of the room. Love those sofa's and the ottoman. I think you need to keep them facing each other and each of you can lie on it watching the tv. Get a big tray to put on your ottoman to protect it or a long one that can sit in the middle and leave room for your foot to rest too... i did that on my ottoman. I have a long rectangle tray that olds books and flowers and room for coffees and there's still room for your feet. If you can move the couch down away from the french door that might be good to open up that area. Great job guys you both have done really well and you will have many memories to cherish there. xo Mar

A mother-in-law's tongue plant would be perfect on that tray table! They grow tall but not very wide so it would be a great shape for that corner, and if you can find one with the yellow/chartreuse rim on the leaves it would look stunning against that dark wall! The lounge is looking absolutely amazing. xx

Love the colours, you must be so excited bringing everything together! Only because you asked - as you have painted the paneling on the end feature wall, I would also paint the skirting board/baseboard the same colour, then your eye goes to the fireplace and wall as a whole - rather than the light baseboard standing out as a feature. The house is looking great and becoming YOUR home.....

Little tip for fluffing up the sofa cushions. Drop them lightly on the floor from each side and the air will get pushed into it, hitting them can break down the fibres and deteriorate the filling quicker! :)

Not gonna lie, I was a little disappointed not to see a full red room. But...BUT, once you furnished the whole space, I am IN LOVE! Everything ties in so beautifully with the grey almost plaster pink tones and the ashy wood. I adore the traditional panelling with the modern twists like the corner chair. It makes it feel like a proper grown up space without being too stiff and too old. The statement wall is such a nice backdrop to the freshness of the rest of the room and I take my original thoughts back completely! The colour palette is such a refreshing take on The Hague Blue everyone has been going for in recent years, myself included and now I feel the need to ditch my deep blue sofa and redo my whole living room. Oh I can almost hear the money leaving my account as we speak....
I loooove the accent wall color! I'm painting my accent wall in the office/craft studio a dark terracotta red, orangey color, against everyone's advice, but I think it'll come together with the lighter wood accents, and give the space a nice warm feel! Yall should get one of those TVs that transforms into a painting when you're not using it! xD Live our luxury dreams out for us, so we can live vicariously through you!

Get a big tray to put on your ottoman to protect it or a long one that can sit in the middle and leave room for your foot to rest too... i did that on my ottoman. I have a long rectangle tray that olds books and flowers and room for coffees and there's still room for your feet. If you can move the couch down away from the french door that might be good to open up that area. A mother-in-law's tongue plant would be perfect on that tray table! They grow tall but not very wide so it would be a great shape for that corner, and if you can find one with the yellow/chartreuse rim on the leaves it would look stunning against that dark wall! The lounge is looking absolutely amazing. xx

Only because you asked - as you have painted the paneling on the end feature wall, I would also paint the skirting board/baseboard the same colour, then your eye goes to the fireplace and wall as a whole - rather than the light baseboard standing out as a feature. Little tip for fluffing up the sofa cushions. Drop them lightly on the floor from each side and the air will get pushed into it, hitting them can break down the fibres and deteriorate the filling quicker! :)

Not gonna lie, I was a little disappointed not to see a full red room. But...BUT, once you furnished the whole space, I am IN LOVE! Everything ties in so beautifully with the grey almost plaster pink tones and the ashy wood. I adore the traditional panelling with the modern twists like the corner chair. It makes it feel like a proper grown up space without being too stiff and too old. The statement wall is such a nice backdrop to the freshness of the rest of the room and I take my original thoughts back completely! The colour palette is such a refreshing take on The Hague Blue everyone has been going for in recent years, myself included and now I feel the need to ditch my deep blue sofa and redo my whole living room. Oh I can almost hear the money leaving my account as we speak....
I loooove the accent wall color! I'm painting my accent wall in the office/craft studio a dark terracotta red, orangey color, against everyone's advice, but I think it'll come together with the lighter wood accents, and give the space a nice warm feel! Yall should get one of those TVs that transforms into a painting when you're not using it! xD Live our luxury dreams out for us, so we can live vicariously through you!
