Thanks for the review Ray - I'm so proud to have been able to help create the Forbidden Island 15th Anniversary Tiki Mug. Working with MunkTiki was a dream, and Michael Thanos is the nicest guy you could meet, plus he runs a fantastic Tiki Bar just dripping with atmosphere.
The very original idea was from another painting I made called "Forbidden Island". (!) Really. It too has a living tiki carrying a wahine... plus a ship wreck, and a Tiki Bar that's really a secret laboratory experimenting on an alien ...it's a big painting. Well, the Tiki & the girl idea was supposed to look like something from an old Science Fiction movie poster. The "Forbidden Island" painting I did is a 'tiki-fied' version of the 1956 science fiction block buster "Forbidden Planet". So, when I was asked to help design a mug - with that painting & the bar both being called "FORBIDDEN ISLAND"... heck, it was a thing I just had to see done somehow. Now, it was up to MunkTiki to get a sculpture of a tiki to carry a girl in such a complex dimensional mug. It wasn't easy, however the result is awesome. Sometimes it all just falls into place perfectly. "FORBIDDEN ISLAND" - It's a bar that's been around for 15 years cause it's one of the best. Here's to 15 more! BIG ALOHA! ~ Brad Parker

I feel you, brother. Seattle is a rain soaked hellscape. How many inches of rain have we gotten in the last two days. If I could afford to live in the Bay Area I would go to Forbidden Island every day. Smugglers' Cove is a pale substitute that does not have outdoor seating or an amateur Tiki DJ night (that I'm aware of). I did once witness Steven Liles filling a fake bra with high proof rum for a bachelorette party at SmugCo but I believe that was merely an accident of timing. I'm sure the same and much worse has occurred at Forbidden Island. If FI were to put Crab Rangoon back on their menu I would move to the Bay Area even though I can't afford it. Disneyland can suck it. Forbidden Island is the happiest place on Earth!

Awesome mugs Ray!! Great review and I love the history you talk about. I have the red dress one which I’m so happy and lucky to have it! It’s the only mug that I truly call “my favorite”. After watching this video, I now have to get the black dress one too!
