⇨ Longer video: • Step by Step: Boolean ...
In this video we explore an easy workflow for converting geometry resulting from a boolean operation, to all-quad topology that can be used in a subdivision workflow, using minimal manual retopology.
Some people hate retopo, uv, mesh fixing etc .. I love it . I would work full time on fixing meshes n stuff . I like that part the most .
Heheh, I like it too :-)
psycho
Nice: You get rid of artifacts with this method also in case of flat surfaces intersecting curve surfaces? I hope so.
By the way it's odd that you don't see the captions, because they are enabled by default on my videos. You may have some setting to disable them.
Also you can remove ngons manually using the join button (j) between two points if you want to keep your meshes low poly
I wish I knew why subdivision workflow is the only one you can find tutorials for
Never buy addons like that because is not sense, you should be able to do that modelling techniques of yourself
Chief ! i have never used the weld modifier so i'm wondering something !
during the step you create the boundary loop to support the shape before applying subdivision, u may, while creating the bevel, recreate overlaping geometry or have some vertex going beyong already existing geometry, this will require another round of cleaning. So my question is, will the weld modifier be usable here to kinda get rid of this ? anyway, thanks again for the amazing content, even if i'm sad it's gettin shorter and shorter :'(
What do you mean that it's getting shorter? The bevel shouldn't go so far as to create overlapping geometry.
i meant that the video format is now mostly shorts and i enjoy longer content ^^'
ho alright then i gotta take care of having enough space before going for the bevel i guess, i just tried it on an armor part i was modeling it worked wonder, but i haven't tried a boolean with "softer edges" i have to give it a try and see if i can manage to obtain something clean this way !
thanks again !

First thumbs down. The final topology was horrible.
Great! I have your book but I still enjoy watching the quick videos 😊
Thank you for your support!
Man, Data Transfer modifier gets no love. 😁
Hi am a beginner, I want to cut a cube from planewhich is rectangular solid...boolean doesn't work...and ctrl + numpad (minus) makes my screen zoom out Idk why thats happening...I tried shift + ctrl+ numpad minus too...please help me out.
Excellent.
Cool, no need to buy stupid addons like MeshMachine now.
mesh machine s hardly stupid
Just pirate it lol

@@chocloretinah yes nice way to appreciate smn's work, hope your "clients" do the same to you! Best of luck
@@chocloretin I did. It's the only one cause he's a --- hole.
Oooh. I didn’t know that’s what shape did for the bevel modifier. Thanks!
I have KNIFE
Autoweld?
I miss the music in the background and the subtitles. Why is all of this missing? :)
You can turn on the subtitles, it's the CC button. Music, I just had too much trouble with my videos constantly getting flagged for the music, even though I paid for the licenses. I can't spend time every day fighting those copyright claims, while the sound is muted (not an issue on RUclips, but on other platforms). I'm trying to learn how to make music myself now, so maybe at some point I can add something myself.
Hey I’m very new to 3d modeling… where can I learn to use correct topology and understand why it’s important in 3d modeling? Any books or great breakdown videos anyone recommends?
good topology is useful for animating things such as a character. its mainly useful for creating good UV unwraps, which makes your texturing process a lot easier and gives you a better result.
@@adam-xo4xv thanks. do you know any good books or courses by any chance to learn more about this?
I bought pdf. how Can I download newer version? or should I buy one more time?
Hey, just log in to where you purchased it and download it again. The PDF there is always the most up-to-date version.
@@BlenderSecrets thank you!
instead of bevel, use I for Inset function and press O to outset.
This method is not good just saying
100% with this guy. Not dunking on the poster, but if you're willing to disrupt your cylinder's curvature to support a boolean, you've blocked out badly and have made something only hobbyists will accept, not professionals. Shrink-wrap is a quick fix and requires a destructive export, rather than keeping subdiv 0 fir the file.
the alternate way for such things is to use Non-destructive ways using Hops and forget about boolean cleanup.
Sure, then it's not a subdivision workflow.
yes, i agree but i fedup with tutorials of Boolean and then do cleanup for subd workflow @@BlenderSecrets but you are doing your work and i agree with your content theme.
@@rajendrameena150I see boolean and cleanup as the unprofessional way. There are always correct ways to do everything.
@@BestMods168 in Art, professionalism is unprofessional.
@@BestMods168 There are many cases where boolean+cleanup is a lot faster. If the end result has the same quality than your "professional" way is actually dumb and being faster is smart.
Amaaaaaaziiiiiing!!!!!!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
These tricks are marvelous
This is pretty neat❤😮
So basically.... basic poly modelling
yes, genius, basic poly modeling-specifically, a quick and easy way to achieve good topology after applying a boolean, with several time-saving tricks to expedite doing so. i mean, what do you *want* from a one-minute video?
@@evilotis01Some people, huh?
