A true great, who was surrounded by other greats. This is how you tell someone is truly a legend, they’re surrounded by people who are all incredible, but they still manage to grow and rise even further, even if they do take some losses.
If i recall correctly he was punished for almost a year for bullying younger students at the university, maybe thats why he didnt compete on any tournament between those 2 world championship
Teddy Riner was more dominant in results obviously, but he competed in a weight class in which he was an specimen as everyone was shorter, less muscular and less athletic (Kageura, Rafael Baby etc...). Name one judoka that he trouble with? No one can compare to him really because no one was like him physically. Ono is a different level o Judo all together...Judo is defined by the lighter weights while these heavier guys are just pushing eachother around looking for an osoto makikomi 99% of the time.
@@dan5626 Aye mate, completely agree. I've done 'Kyokushin Karate' since 1985, wish i'd done Judo the same. Been a Judo fan for 10yrs, and I prefere the lower weights, much more explosive in their delivery and variety of technique, but 'Best Judoka in the world', must surely go on results

Cheers. Just checked the wiki. Judobase has it the other way around making it look like he made it to the final.
The era of stiff arming has finally came to an end.
Love your vids man, I wish you will go back to daily uploads.

I think you'll find 'TEDDY RINER', already has that title wrapped up mate. In my opinion
